Chapter 34: Chapter 34 Today’s Mission Is to Help a Villager
Gu Zhengxi was forced to regurgitate in the hospital, given a drip bag, and his consciousness slowly came back to him.
After hearing how he had embarrassed himself earlier from his assistant, he refused to allow any of the program crew to see him. He absolutely refused to let any of the guests see him, especially Qin Nuan.
Since the director couldn’t see Gu Zhengxi, he could only ask the doctor about his condition.
The doctor said that thankfully, Gu Zhengxi had been sent in early, and the mushroom he ate wasn’t a very poisonous one either. Since he had already vomited everything out, he was no longer in danger. Once he was done with the drip and stayed overnight for observation, he could be discharged the next morning.
Once they heard that Gu Zhengxi would be alright and refused to let anyone see him, the program staff had no choice but to bring the other guests back to continue with filming.
It was evening by the time they returned to the village.
At night, Qin Nuan did a double steamboat. One had mushroom broth, while the other was a spicy soup. After she put in all the ingredients she had, the fragrance of the food filled the air.
She and Shen Chang’an were the only ones who needed to maintain their figure, so they just ate some vegetables cooked in the mushroom soup. But the other guests ate to their heart’s content.
They had an essential filming session the next morning, so after dinner, the director instructed all the guests to sleep early to get ready for a new challenge the next day, then called it a day.
Qin Nuan removed her makeup and took a bath downstairs. When she went back upstairs, she saw that Li Jing had already prepared her bed for sleeping. Shen Chang’an was sitting on the other side of the room, and her assistant was blow-drying her hair.
When she spotted Qin Nuan coming in, Li Jing grabbed hold of her and checked her over carefully. Her gaze finally landed on the blisters on Qin Nuan’s palms. Her palms had suffered some abrasions again, so the blisters had burst, became a little swollen, and the capillaries around them became apparent to the eye.
“Sister Nuan, how did you do this to yourself?”
As an assistant, she couldn’t follow Qin Nuan around on the set during the filming process, so she had only discovered these blisters now. She was so worried.
Qin Nuan looked nonchalantly at her own hands. These were nothing compared to the injuries she suffered while she was at the orphanage. She laughed and said, “It’s alright, it’s just a small injury.”
But Li Jing wasn’t letting it go just like that. She got some disinfectant, cleaned, and dressed Qin Nuan’s wounds before finally leaving.
—
The next day, the guests were awoken by repeated shouting before the sun even rose.
Qin Nuan swiftly got changed and ran downstairs without even putting on her makeup.
Gu Zhengxi had already returned to the set and was sitting at the stone table.
He was facing an older man who looked like he was in his 50s. He was dressed like a villager and lay on the floor as he clutched his legs and wailed miserably. He cried and said, “How could I have lost it? I tied it properly in the courtyard last night, so how could it have gone missing first thing in the morning? My family is counting on it to make enough money to spend on New Year’s!”
These cries of his made all the guests come running out from their rooms. When they saw that it was a small-time actor hired by the program staff, they knew this man was part of their mission for the day.
The program staff had already set up all the cameras before the first guest came running out of the room. The director picked up his loudhailer. “Today, a regrettable thing has happened. A villager from Yunzhong Village has lost a critical animal he kept in the house. We’ve been staying here for some time now, so we ought to lend a helping hand when the villagers need help. Today’s mission is to help a villager. Help him find the animal he has lost. The one who finds it will receive a present from the villager.”
“First of all, we will give each guest a small pouch. Everyone can follow the hints inside the pouch to choose one tool.”
Once the director finished saying this, another staff brought a table over. There were two bundles of grass, two ropes, and two clubs.
After that, the staff gave each guest a small pouch.
