My Summons Can Learn Skills - Chapter 47
Chapter 47: Experiment Record
Swish!
As Dr. Andric pressed the remote control, the image on the wall changed to reveal a creature that looked overall like a pure human with pale skin and blood-red eyes.
“We used a combination of vampire blood genetic fragments and the Progenitor Virus to create Z-Virus 1. When it was injected into a normal human, it did not cause widespread tissue necrosis or proliferation, like the T-Virus did, and it maintained an overall human appearance.
“We took his blood and found that he had the same blood components as vampires but did not have a vampire’s weakness and thus did not fear sunlight and silver.
“However, these genetic fragments did not meet our expectations at all. They were no match for a pure vampire, much less for one that was modified by the T-Virus.
“We believe that the genetic potential of vampire blood is insufficient, so we abandoned this failed experiment.”
The doctor pressed the remote again and the image changed to a video.
The video showed a skinny woman shackled in a cave and weeping with her head down.
When a bleeding human Awakener was brought before her, she suddenly went berserk. The veins beneath her skin abruptly popped out like black earthworms, and her eyes turned black.
With a sudden lunge, she broke the thumb-thick chains on her wrists and ankles.
The human Awakener was at least above Level 15. Although he was slightly injured, his strength wasn’t affected too much.
However, he had no power to fight back against the woman and was torn apart in a few seconds…
“This is the most representative example of the next few experiments. We obtained the corpse of a powerful demon from hell, extracted a genetic fragment of his blood, and combined it with the Progenitor Virus, thus creating Z-Virus 7.
“After being injected with this virus, an ordinary human could evolve in just one month to the point where they could physically breed the demon’s blood and increase their strength tenfold while still maintaining a human-like appearance.
“However, this blood was too overbearing for humans, as the fragile blood vessels couldn’t withstand it, so this woman died after half a month.”
Bam!
As soon as he said that, the woman’s body exploded in the video and black demon blood splattered all over the screen.
Chen Gou had basically understood the characteristics of the Z-Virus.
To put it simply, it worked by replacing the original relevant blood genes of humans with blood gene fragments combined with the virus.
Thus, it caused the new blood created in the human body to become a more powerful kind of blood, such as vampire blood or demon blood, and then possess the power of that blood.
Since it was created within the body itself, it basically would not be rejected or cause an overreaction and it was considered safe at the initial stage compared to the T-Virus.
However, this relatively mild virus was prone to the last outcome… Due to incomplete mutation, the fragile body could not match the powerful blood.
What was the difference between this Z-Virus and the bloodline potion made by the Covenant using the blood or corpses of magical creatures?
The former focused on blood. Mutation and evolution were basically limited to blood, while abilities were only related to blood.
Bloodline potions, on the other hand, were related to the bloodline. Once they were used, no one could predict what kind of changes would occur.
Different people would have a drastically different outcome even when using the same bloodline potion.
For example, there was the Deathwalker Vampire’s bloodline potion, which could be made in bulk and was relatively inexpensive. Some people would grow bat wings after drinking it, other people would grow sharp claws and teeth, and very few people would experience all these things.
“Doctor, you’ve said too much today,” the security chief suddenly said to warn Andric.
“It’s okay. None of this information is top secret. Besides, Mr. An is our partner. He needs to know all these things,” Andric replied without minding him.
That was true. So what if he knew the results of these experiments?
What really mattered was the Progenitor Virus and the blood’s mutated genetic structure.
The former was the key and the latter was the door to blood evolution.
Dr. Andric added, “After more than a dozen experiments, we still believe that only the powerful blood created from human mutation can allow humans to withstand it with guaranteed potential.”
After saying that, he looked at Chen Gou with great anticipation. The Blue Wave Clan’s blood was the highest level of a human bloodline that the Blood Umbrella Organization could obtain.
It has been 20 minutes. I have to get back as soon as possible. Chen Gou peeked at the system’s time log.
The Morph Skill only lasted half an hour, so he had to leave the lab within 10 minutes and rush back to the Bloodsucker Team’s garrison with Violent Bear before swapping with An Zhanyu.
Otherwise, he would let the cat out of the bag!
“I understand what you mean. Do you want to go to the lab to draw blood?” Chen Gou asked as he lifted the sleeve on his left arm.
“It’s fine. I’ll just ask someone over.”
The doctor picked up the phone on his desk and said, “Bring the phlebotomy equipment over here.” He then hung up.
In less than half a minute, a beautiful blonde woman in a researcher coat walked in with a tray of syringes.
“Mr. An, blood will need to be drawn multiple times, and you may need to cooperate with us on other experiments.”
Andric was very satisfied to see Chen Gou be so cooperative.
It would naturally be perfect for researchers if the experimental targets cooperated by themselves, as it would make the process go much smoother.
Thanks to her skilled work, three test tubes of blood were quickly drawn from Chen Gou.
No difference existed between this bright red blood and an ordinary person’s blood, but the doctor didn’t doubt it either.
This was because the holy blood of the An Lan Clan needed to evolve to a very high level before it would gradually turn purple. At low levels, it was the same red color as normal people’s blood.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll go back now.”
Chen Gou suddenly looked at the fixed image of blood splatter on the wall screen, licked his lips, and said with a smile, “Also, if there’s such a wonderful live experiment again, I wish to study it up close.”
Andric recalled the description of An Zhanyu’s perverted personality and his expression stiffened. However, he still politely shook hands with Chen Gou. “As you wish.”
“Thank you.”
Chen Gou left with the security chief.
This trip was considered successful. It had gone without a hitch, and he had gotten important information related to the Z-Virus.
The Umbrella Corporation’s research capabilities had greatly exceeded his expectations.
At least, the Z-Virus studied at the Blood Umbrella Organization’s base was moving forward. They had established a perfect genetic structure, and putting the bloodline genes of any magical creature into this structure would make it an evolved blood virus.
Although none of these viruses were up to par yet, this was a remarkable achievement.
If I insert an angel’s blood gene into this structure, it will only be a true ‘Heaven Virus’ when it is successful, right?
A profound gleam flashed in Chen Gou’s eyes as he exited the gates of the lab building and walked back with Violent Bear.
