Chapter 33 All-rounded Physical Fitness Examination
“Follow me to the physical examination room.”
Instructor Wu put the saber on the table and strode out with his hands behind his back.
He Bing and Lu Heng immediately followed behind.
To conduct an all-rounded physical examination, one had to use all kinds of special machines and devices, and the final results had to be evaluated by a professional instructor.
Therefore, a full-scale physical examination was not something that could be done just because one wanted to. One had to obtain the permission of the instructor, and the instructor had to bring them to the dojo’s physical examination room personally and oversee the test.
The three of them quickly made their way to the entrance of the physical examination room.
After entering the physical examination room, Lu Heng looked around.
He had only been to this place once, which was when he first came to the dojo, so he only had a vague memory of what this room looked like on the inside.
Just like the last time he was here, the physical examination room was noisy. Not only were there low shouts from the students who were exerting their strength, but he could also hear noises from the machines that were running.
Overall though, it was still quieter than the training hall.
Lu Heng followed Instructor Wu to the counter.
Instructor Wu said to the female staff member sitting inside, “Two students. Complete physical fitness examination.”
“Okay, please show me your identification documents,” she replied.
Hearing this, Lu Heng and He Bing quickly took out their ID cards and student ID cards and placed them on the counter.
Da da da…
The female staff member quickly began the registration process. Soon, the printer spat out two forms
“Take these and line up for the examination.”
The staff member placed the forms on the counter, and the two quickly took the forms.
Seeing this, Instructor Wu asked, “Do you both know the procedure?”
They both replied, “Yes.”
“Okay, then go ahead and complete the examination. Come to my office after you’re done.”
Instructor Wu waved at the two of them, after which the two of them immediately turned around and left.
Lu Heng flipped through the assessment form in his hand as he walked.
The assessment items on it were the same as the ones he had taken last time, and the same as the physical examination back in school as well.
There were three categories in total, which were reaction test, physical fitness test, and adaptability test.
The reaction test tested one’s dynamic vision, instantaneous memory recall, hand-eye coordination, and so on.
The physical fitness test tested one’s strength, speed, endurance, flexibility, balance, and so on. These were tested using conventional methods such as long-distance running, short-distance sprint, fist strength test, and other such tests.
The final adaptability test covered two aspects, which were environmental adaptability, and psychological quality.
In fact, the former was essentially also a form of testing a person’s psychological quality.
This was because the test simulated different environments and situations to examine if the person had acrophobia, claustrophobia or other environment-induced phobias.
Of course, although there were multiple tests within each of these three test categories, the final results would only display a single score for each category; the reaction test score, physical fitness test score, and the adaptability test score.
Just like the tests in the civil class, the test questions might be divided into reading comprehension and writing tasks; each item had its own score, but the final assessment results only took into account the total score.
The specific scoring of each test item was provided for the convenience of students and teachers, so that they could carry out targeted training to make up for their shortcomings.
Lu Heng quickly browsed through the form.
The last time he underwent this physical examination, the results of the three categories of tests were two E’s and one F. He did not know what his scores would be like this time.
If he wanted to take the university examination, he had to score at least straight B’s in all three categories. If he did not, there was basically no chance of passing.
This was disregarding the fact that the university examination did not solely assess students based on the results of these three categories. There was also an actual combat examination, which had a very high points weightage.
The actual combat examination also had three categories, which were similarly divided into the six grades of ABCDEF.
In other words, the university examination had a total of six categories. Only those who scored straight B’s or higher in all six would have the hope of entering the University of Martial Arts. If they scored straight A’s in all six, and passed the subsequent hunting test, then they would be evaluated as full-fledged martial artists.
“Lu Heng, I’m going to take the long-distance running test first. What about you?” He Bing asked.
Lu Heng thought for a moment before replying, “I’ll take the long-distance running test first too. I’ll take the other tests after warming up.”
“Then let’s head over to the treadmill.” He Bing said as he walked.
Land inside a base city was scarce. Other than the few high schools and two universities, there were no complete track and field facilities anywhere else. Therefore, the dojo could only use the treadmills for the long-distance running and short-distance sprint tests.
The two of them walked over to the treadmills.
There were a total of ten multi-purpose treadmills lined up here for testing, so ten people could attempt the tests simultaneously.
At this moment, there were four unoccupied treadmills. Lu Heng and He Bing handed their forms to the staff and got onto two treadmills that were lined up side by side.
“Lu Heng, how about a competition? Long-distance running is my specialty.” He Bing asked with a smile. “Okay. Let’s do it.”
Lu Heng’s competitive spirit was aroused, so he decisively agreed.
As soon as he finished speaking, the staff next to them said, “Get ready. Let’s begin.”
The treadmill started up, and the display screen lit up. The large fan in front of them also began to turn slowly, simulating wind resistance.
The two of them immediately lowered their heads and focused on the test at hand.
Twenty minutes later, the two of them got off the treadmill, sweating profusely.
“Lu Heng, you’re good. I can’t believe I couldn’t outrun you.” He Bing said enviously.
Lu Heng smiled and replied, “Maybe you’ll do better next time.”
“Don’t be so modest and just take the damn compliment” He Bing patted his shoulder. “Let’s compete in sprinting together as well. Let’s see who’s better this time.”
“Okay.” Lu Heng had no objection.
Then, the two of them took a short break and then got on the treadmill again.
The sprinting test did not take long and was over in around ten seconds.
“Lu Heng, I didn’t expect you to be so much better than me at sprinting. It seems I can’t compete with you when it comes to running at all,” He Bing said with some disappointment.
He originally thought that since he had started training before Lu Heng, his physical examination results would surpass the latter’s in every aspect. In the end, the results of the first two tests poured a bucket of cold water on his expectations.
“Senior Brother He, since I’m often rushed for time, I run everywhere all the time, so I get quite a bit of running training that way.” Lu Heng comforted him.
He Bing nodded slightly, then said, “Let’s go and do the other tests.”
With that, he pushed Lu Heng in the direction of the fist strength machine.
While the two of them were walking toward the fist strength machine, two well-dressed men entered the physical examination room.
The staff member at the counter noticed them and quickly stood up to greet them, “Director, you’re here.”
Director Yu Xiangrong nodded at the staff member and then continued to walk in with Xu Cheng in tow.
