Chapter 27: Lord Of Eternal Nightmare
“I have broken through.” Bai Ye had an indistinct expression in his eyes.
That dream…
Bai Ye’s expression changed.
It all happened very fast.
A feeling of dizziness swept through his brain.
At the last moment, Bai Ye looked at his cell phone. The time was 14:24.
He seemed to be in a trance before he reached the familiar void.
“The second tomb.”
There was a crack in the big tomb.
Then, a loud crackling sound was heard. “I have finally come out!”
Fog obscured the sky and the sun.
Bai Ye, who was in a daze, seemed to see a hazy starry sky. The sun was white, the planet was gray, and the starry sky was deep black.
It was like a black-and-white photo.
A moment later, the illusion disappeared.
Bai Ye opened his eyes.
The time on his cell phone was 14:24.
It was unknown when the Super Dimension Mirror had appeared, but it was confronting a gray bald crow in front of it.
“Alopecia areata?” Bai Ye looked at the crow.
There were two white spots on top of the crow’s head.
It was bald, so it didn’t have any feathers.
It seemed like there should have been horns there, but nothing had grown from those spots.
“Damn brat.” The crow lifted its wings to cover its head. “Nothing good can come out of your mouth. I curse you to have nightmares every day!”
[Name: Lord of Eternal Nightmare]
[Level: Iron One-Star]
[Skill: Nightmare World, Dream Feedback]
[Endowment: 10,000+ (???)]
It was yet another tamed beast with a minimum endowment of 10,000 points.
Could all the existences sealed in the starry sky have a high endowment value?
Bai Ye thought to himself.
He then looked up at the crow.
“What is the Dream Feedback ability related to?”
“What Dream Feedback ability?” The bald crow pretended to be deaf and dumb.
It looked as if it did not know what Bai Ye was talking about.
“I am asking you about your skill. We have already signed a soul contract. There is no way you could lie to me,” Bai Ye said calmly.
Based on the brief encounter that he’d had with the crow, the crow was much more intelligent than Xiaowei.
Perhaps this was due to the fact that Xiaowei was a mechanical beast.
It could also be because the crow was the second monster to come out of the tomb in the dream.
Bai Ye thought to himself.
“Forget it, human boys nowadays are really treacherous.” The bald crow sighed and looked at Xiaowei with slanted eyes. “I can tell you, but from now on, I will be the boss of the family, and it must be the second in line.”
“What?!” Bai Ye looked at Xiaowei.
Xiaowei understood what it meant. The monster that had arrived after it wanted to take its place!
It was so mad that it was fuming.
A burst of light came from Xiaowei’s body.
Then, a crack appeared where the bald crow had been.
The crack was as thin as a strand of hair.
The air swirled!
Air was immediately drawn into the crack!
Bai Ye staggered, unable to control himself, and took a few steps forward.
Bang!
The copper incense burner that contained the incense dropped and rolled to the ground, and the incense ash was scattered all over the floor.
The three pots of calming grass also shifted slightly. However, the flowerpots were fixed in place by screws, and the leaves moved slightly before going still.
“Someone is killing a bird!” The bald crow let out a scream.
It turned into a cloud of gray mist and disappeared on the spot.
However, part of it was swallowed by the space rift.
The space rift only lasted a few seconds before disappearing, and calmness was restored.
The bald crow seemed to turn a shade paler. It might have seemed to have a physical body at first, but it now seemed faintly discernible.
“Damn! Are you serious about killing me?” The bald crow cursed.
In fact, it was a little frightened. Thankfully, it was talented and it was not an entity, so it had survived the attack.
Any other tamed beast would not have been able to survive after being cut once by the space rift, especially when it was only an iron one-star beast.
“Xiaowei.” Bai Ye frowned and berated it.
Bai Ye was also slightly angry now.
If the pots of calming grass had been smashed against the ground, he would have had to pay the school a hefty sum of money.
Xiaowei was fuming mad, and the color of the mirror was constantly changing.
It turned pale red next.
It clung to Bai Ye’s hair and hid behind his head.
“Fine, you are the boss of the family. You are the boss. You can’t use your abilities indiscriminately in the future, though. That was the Space Cutting ability just now, am I right? You didn’t use it during training before. This was a one-time success.” Bai Ye comforted Xiaowei.
The space became as thin as a piece of paper and left a slit open.
The slit was very small and thin, and the duration was very short.
However, this was considered a space rift.
If the enemies had physical bodies and were hit by the space rift, very few of them would survive.
Based on this alone, this could easily be a high-level skill.
Besides, this was definitely a high-level skill that could continue to develop and grow.
Fighting with a mirror was pointless.
The bald crow sized up the mirror in secret.
It had a complicated expression on its face.
This was a huge loss. Fortunately, it had dodged quickly and dashed to the side.
Did the mirror have spatial skills?
Spatial skills seemed to work against it. Thankfully, it was a dream tamed beast. These skills did not have too much of an effect on the bald crow.
The bald crow thought this to itself.
“I don’t know if we will have new partners in the future… However, there is a possibility. Therefore, all of you will be ranked based on whoever appeared first,” Bai Ye told the bald crow.
The bald crow let out a cold snort, silently agreeing to it.
Discretion was the better part of valor. It had to work under this human for the time being. It would let this go until it was stronger.
Anyway, humans did not have a long lifespan. Even if they broke through and prolonged their lifespan, they would never be immortal. It would regain its freedom sooner or later.
“The Nightmare World is my domain. When others are drawn into dreams by me, they will be drawn into the Nightmare World. Everything in the Nightmare World is under my control, and Dream Feedback will reflect the damage that others have suffered in the dream on their physical bodies in reality,” said the bald crow.
This ability sounded like a horror movie that he had watched before, A Nightmare on Elm Street, a film series with Frederick Krueger[1] as the main character.
Between the Nightmare World and the Super Dimension Space, both Xiaowei and the crow had their own individual space.
What kind of space was this?
Could it be considered a domain?
Did monsters that reached a certain level have their own natural domain?
Bai Ye thought to himself.
All these were his speculations.
“Is there any limit to killing in a dream and having the death reflected in reality? Is it possible to have unlimited feedback and kill someone directly?”
“It naturally depends on the differences in level between me and the enemy. If the opponent is many levels higher than me, cutting their head off in the dream will only result in scraping their skin at most. If I am stronger, they will really die if they are killed in the dream.”
“Are there other effects? For example, if I practice in a dream state, will the results of the practice be reflected on my actual body? What about meditation?” Bai Ye was interested.
The bald crow was silent.
Why would he think of letting others practice in the dreams?
“I don’t know, no one has ever dared to practice in my dreams.” The bald crow rolled its eyes.
When others entered its Nightmare World, they all madly ran for their lives or died amid endless fear and nightmares. No one had the time or was in the mood to practice.
“I will enter your Nightmare World to give it a try after I go back tonight,” Bai Ye said.
He was still lamenting the fact that he did not have enough time for meditation. It would be great if he could meditate in dreams and have the result reflected in reality.
He would make huge improvements.
