My Third Gentleman - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: What Is Your Relationship With My Uncle (II)
Jing Wushuang blinked, then shook her head and apologized, “I’m sorry.”
It was then when Aunt Wu strode into her ward with a flower vase. “Miss Jing, I’ve finally found something to keep the flowers in. What do you thi—” She did not finish her sentence as she saw Mu Yuhao and exclaimed in surprise, “Younger Master, why are you here?”
“Aunt Wu?” Mu Yuhao blurted out in return. He was even more surprised than Aunt Wu.
Mu Yuhao’s grandmother had passed away due to birth complications. Aunt Wu’s son was only a few months older than his uncle, and she had breastfed and took care of Mu Jinchen ever since. His uncle regarded Aunt Wu as his godmother and never gave her laborious work; even Mu Yuhao had to give respect to her as an elder. That same woman, Aunt Wu, was here caring for Wushuang.
His gaze shifted back and forth between Aunt Wu and Wushuang, scrutinizing yet uncertain. Finally, with eyes closed, he asked, “Wushuang, what’s your relationship with my uncle?”
“Your uncle? Chairman Mu?”
Mu Yuhao did not reply but stared straight at her instead.
Wushuang was quite surprised and did not know the reason behind his question. “Same as you, that of a superior and a subordinate.”
Mu Yuhao’s eyes turned cold and frigidly countered, “Then why is Aunt Wu here?”
Wushuang’s head ached terribly. She had said that she did not need to be taken care of, but Mu Jinchen had insisted on sending Aunt Wu over. She liked Aunt Wu and did not want to send her away. How could she explain it?
“Younger Master, please don’t be so fierce. You’ll scare Miss Jing, and she’s still ill. It was Young Master who asked me to take care of Miss Jing. Young Master would be sad if you scare Miss Jing.” Aunt Wu looked at the frail and delicate Wushuang who was interrogated so sternly by Mu Yuhao. She could not help but speak for her.
Did Jing Wushuang not know who Aunt Wu was to Mu Jinchen? How could she not know? Aunt Wu actually said that Uncle would be sad. Uncle would be sad…
“Wushuang, you truly have double-standards. As your superior, Uncle can care for you, but I can’t? Is it because—”
“Mu Yuhao!” Wushuang snapped, her beautiful eyes turned to show anger. She did not know why Aunt Wu said the things she said, but she did not think Mu Yuhao had the right to question her.
“Please note your position and keep your attitude in check. I don’t think you have the right to question me anything apart from work-related matters.”
Mu Yuhao looked like a deflated balloon when he heard this. It was true; what right did he have to question Wushuang?
He had always fancied her, but she would always reject without even budging the slightest. Apart from being her superior, where else could he stand?
“I feel honored to finally hear you address me as something other than ‘President Mu’,” muttered Mu Yuhao, his tone soft though it sounded hurt as well.
“Remember what you said. The relationship you have with both he and I are merely that of your superiors at the office, otherwise…” He trailed off before he continued, “I know you’ve no need for my concern. Sorry to have bothered you; I hope it won’t cause you any further inconvenience. Get well soon… I’ll get back to work.” He then left.
Wushuang watched as he left before she let out a sigh.
“Miss Jing, what’s wrong with Younger Master? Did I say something wrong?” Aunt Wu asked worriedly. Based on the younger master’s attitude, it seemed he liked Miss Jing as well.
“Aunt Wu, please don’t say anything like that anymore. Mister Wu is my superior and I’m merely his subordinate; that’s our relationship.” Wushuang had no intention of blaming Aunt Wu; Aunt Wu was just trying to defend her. She was delighted that Aunt Wu treated her so well, even though they had just met.
