Chapter 14: One Against Three

So she grabbed a handful of powder and leaned against the cabinet, preparing herself and waiting for them to walk over.
When the three werecrocodiles were about ten meters away, they vaguely saw Reese lying on the ground, looking like she needed their help urgently.
Her frail body looked so pitiful. How many times could they play with it?
The three of them rubbed their palms and ran forward impatiently, wanting to be the first lucky person to taste the beauty.
They were even murmuring excitedly, “Ha ha, little beauty, I’m coming!”
At an angle that they couldn’t see, Reese’s eyelashes fluttered and she smiled as if she were having a sweet dream.
But in reality, she was so nervous that her palms were already sweating, though she was the only one who knew. She wondered if the fragrant sleeping powder would still work when mixed with sweat?
Meanwhile, the three of them saw that she looked tortured in her sleep, so they wanted to help her up, out of the goodness of their hearts. Of course, it wouldn’t be too much to take a little liberty with her along the way, right?
Just when all of them had surrounded Reese and were about to reach out to her, she suddenly lifted her hand with the medicine.
The powder scattered and covered the eyes of the crocodile men, which had the effect of putting them to sleep. This attack caught all of them off guard.
On the other hand, Reese was already prepared, with her breath held and her eyes closed. She waited a few seconds while they were still in discomfort, but she did not choose to escape.
Instead, she chose to attack.
This is precisely what it meant to take someone out while they were down.
Reese tried desperately to inflict pain on various parts of the werecrocodiles. At this moment, she was glad that previously in her dissection classes, there had been a werecrocodile cadaver, called a “body donor” in industry terms, which allowed her to understand the physical traits and characteristics of a werecrocodile.
This “body donor” was simply someone who was willing to donate their body after death to medical students for their study and research.
Reese had learned in class that some of the joints and acupuncture points of werecrocodiles were very vulnerable.
However, as humans were a relatively weaker species, Reese still did not have enough strength against these werecrocodiles, so she could not defeat them directly by merely targeting these weak spots. But she could cause them to faint instead.
Suddenly, the sounds of three bodies colliding into each other could be heard amidst their shouts and cries, as the three werecrocodiles collapsed to the ground one after another.
Reese dusted her hands and shook off any remaining powder that was still stuck to her hands. Feeling pleased with herself, she watched as the baddies groaned in pain on the ground.
The powder worked indeed. In less than a minute, their voices grew weak and then they fell asleep.
Reese had to exert much of her strength to drag and place their bodies between the shelves. She wanted to make it look like they had accidentally inhaled some powder upon trespassing into this area on their own, which was why they were sound asleep in this spot.
Next, she erased all remaining traces in the place and went out to report on her task.
After all, she wasn’t sure how long the effects of the powder would last for a werecrocodile. If they suddenly woke up while she was still exploring further inside, they would probably be even more determined to tear her apart and devour her.
It was definitely wiser to leave. Reese was well aware that she couldn’t confront them head-on.
Just when she went out and called for the werebeast nurse to come in and check on her work, a loud breathing sound traveled into her ears.
She turned to look and saw that the man rushing over, looking like a frantic mess, was King.
This was the first time that she had seen this man like this. Usually, he either carried himself like a gentleman or he looked cold and serious. Even when it was just the two of them alone, he was only frivolous and lecherous.
The werebeast nurse had also never seen this doctor who was always composed reveal any expression other than indifference before. Upon seeing the usually mature and reliable King acting so rashly, she immediately thought that something serious had happened in the hospital. She asked anxiously, “King, what happened?”
King was still breathing heavily, unable to say anything. He merely continued staring at Reese. When he saw her standing at the door unscathed, he felt so relieved that he hadn’t lost her.
Hearing the nurse’s question, King finally calmed down and shook his head to indicate that he was fine.
Only then did the werebeast nurse restrain her fists, which had been close to transforming.
“Bring her in.” King soon regained his usual composure with ease. After instructing the nurse to bring Reese into the pharmacy, he turned around and went in first.
Seeing that King had rushed over in such a hurry just for this human woman, the werebeast nurse immediately turned to glare at Reese fiercely.
“Behave yourself. If you make any mistake, I’ll end you!”
After saying that, she brought Reese in. But just as she was about to join in and listen to what was going on, King closed the door and shut her out.
She rubbed her nose awkwardly as she stood outside.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the door…
King had already wrapped Reese in his arms. Just a while ago, he had realized that the three werecrocodiles were all nowhere to be seen.
Needless to say, they had constantly been eying Reese recently. But King wasn’t sure how long they were gone, or how Reese was doing!
Hence, he sprinted frantically all the way, terrified that if he delayed even one second, something bad would happen and he would regret it for the rest of his life.
Fortunately, he arrived just in time..
