Chapter 382: Chapter 375: What to Use to Support Girlfriend
Fortunately, the parents of their child weren’t there. Otherwise, they’d have a huge problem. What’s wrong with their child getting an education? Who had they obstructed? Whose path had they blocked?
Zhang Yong’an’s parents left and this matter would not simply end here. An apology is necessary, but it would depend on whether they would accept it.
“Miss Tang Yuxin, my parents….”
Zhang Yongan wanted to plead for his parents, for himself, but he just couldn’t swallow his pride. There was no occasion where he, a Phoenix Man, could bow before others. In their eyes, they always remained noble, proud and superior. How could they possibly bow to anyone, even in an apology?
Tang Yuxin turned around, her face still somewhat swollen, but less so than before. However, it was still an appalling sight.
“You should be grateful that my family is not here, otherwise, you would not have gotten off so easily.”
What Tang Yuxin said was true. If her overprotective father had been there, he would have disliked this absurdity even more than he disliked her actual boyfriend.
Tang Zhinian stood there pale-faced, knowing that this time it wouldn’t be easy to get off the hook. It was not just difficult, it was downright impossible.
Zhang’s parents intentionally injuring someone, and Tang Yuxin firmly demanding justice, resulted in them being imprisoned for a month. Anyone could figure out that a student with an excellent reputation, good looks and great future, didn’t deserve such treatment. After all, they tarnished her reputation and physically assaulted her, the one-month imprisonment was a mere slap on the wrist.
As for Zhang Yongan, who had stolen another student’s ID and instigated his parents to cause a ruckus at school, he received a serious strike against his record. If it wasn’t for the difficulty of getting admitted into Qing University, he might have already been expelled.
“Is that him?” a student pointed at Zhang Yongnian, who was getting his meal.
“You’re saying, it’s him.”
“It’s him?” Many sighed at the repetition of this statement.
“With his looks and stature wanting to get someone like Tang Yuxin? She’s a top student in the medical department, the college entrance exam champion of Jiang Province, and a special scholarship holder. He lacks looks, height, money, and family background, yet he dares to dream of being her boyfriend?”
“Doesn’t he look at himself in the mirror? Living off vegetables and tofu, could he really afford a girlfriend?”
“Do you think she lives off these? She’s got her own ways. Remember the shock she gave everyone at our military training during the first year?”
Every single word was a stab in Zhang Yongan’s heart, tearing his self-respect apart, making him wish to ditch his meal, climb out of the window, and bury his face in his arms. However, he did nothing, instead finding an empty corner to eat his vegetables and tofu in peace. From then on, he rose to notoriety, known for his farts.
A few months passed, and it was now the middle of a harsh winter.
It had started snowing since the beginning of winter, and the snowfall intensified, covering the earth for half a month. Despite countless attempts at snow-clearing, the piled-up snow was still considerable.
Tang Yuxin went to a store and bought a box of cola and a huge water heater.
She huffed warm air into her cupped hands, pushed her mini cart carrying all the goods back home. The accumulated snow on the streets had been cleared pretty much, making her journey somewhat manageable. She managed to bring everything back without spilling or tripping. She just had to be more careful to not fall.
Upon getting back, she started the water heater. The large pot she placed on top of it, was large enough to hold several buckets of water.
She poured the cola into the pot, added some sliced ginger and a few types of potent traditional Chinese medicines.
Not long after, there were sounds outside the door-Them, Lin Yile and the others arrived.
“We brought the stuff you asked for.”
They were each holding a first aid kit in their hands, equipped with all sorts of medical items.
“Why did you want me to get these?” Ting Yuan stomped her feet from time to time as she went over to the big heater and practically clung to it. It was so cold, intolerably so, she could almost cry.
“Didn’t we agree to show some care for the policemen outside?” Tang Yuxin added a few more herbs into the pot. They were all out there shoveling snow, and what if they catch fever or get hurt by unseen pieces of glass or metal? We’re medical students after all, and we can manage these basic injuries. At least, we should be capable of that much.
“Yes,” Song Qingtong nodded, “If nobody is injured, that would be great. We are just carrying some extra stuff, at most, we will just bring it back. However, if someone does get injured, then these will prove invaluable.”
“If there’s a real need, you might not find the supplies you desperately need, have them at the ready, or even find a place to cry. So, it’s better to take precautions.”
“I guess bringing all these was the right thing to do,” Ting Yuan put down her backpack, stowed it next to the heater as the freezing weather made her feel like a popsicle. She emptied everything from her backpack – fever reducers, anti-inflammatory meds, all types of injections and whatnot, she was well-prepared.
“Why did you bring so many things?” Lin Yile ran over and counted them. There indeed were too many, didn’t she bring everything she could get her hands on?
“I just grabbed everything at hand,” Ting Yuan pressed her face against the heater. Of course, she had to be careful not to burn herself, or she wouldn’t be able to restore her skin even with plenty of care. If she ruined her looks, nobody would want her.
This was Tang Yuxin’s idea since the recent snowfall was quite heavy. The fact that they could travel safely was all thanks to the policemen and soldiers who worked tirelessly, shovelling snow through the night, giving them the convenience of commuting despite the chilling weather and icy conditions.
Therefore, they decided to prepare ginger soup to send over at night, as a gesture of love. Everybody expressed their love for their country in their own way. Although they were not strong enough to help shovel the snow, they could still do these small things. Even if it meant not sleeping for a night, they believed they did their part and performed a good deed.
