Now, his image was destroyed and many people were questioning his character. After all, he was beaten up on his first day of appointment and an academy was destroyed on the second day. Many people linked these acts of crime to him. This placed him in a difficult position.
“Think of a way to salvage the situation,” Gu Yan said as he gritted his teeth.
If he wanted to clean up this mess, he would need to fork out his own money. Most importantly, if he didn’t handle it properly, it would leave a bad impression on the citizens of S City and he would have a difficult time carrying on in his position.
“Investigate! You must find out who did it,” Gu Yan bellowed.
“I’ve conducted a thorough investigation and everyone said it was an earthquake that only affected the school,” Old Xi replied.
“Bam!” Gu Yan placed his teacup on the table forcefully. The tea spilled out of the cup. His gaze was sinister and dangerous. “The earthquake only happened at the academy?”
Old Xi didn’t believe it either. But this was what he found.
“I also received another piece of news that the principal got drunk with a few professors so they smashed the pieces of equipment with metal rods. The principal has resigned and the professors have all left the city. I need you to personally visit the school to uncover the truth.”
Gu Yan leaned against the sofa. His head was hurting.
“Find some ways to investigate it further,” Gu Yan finally said after some time. He wasn’t superstitious. He wanted to know why all these “good incidents” were happening to him.
“Yes,” Old Xi answered.
Gu Yan raised his hand and Old Xi stopped for a second.
“Also, find out where Gu Chuyan has been for the past few days. Confirm the identity of the man you investigated a few days ago and see if she went to work at his place,” Gu Yan said.
“Yes,” Old Xi replied. He left.
Gu Yan climbed into his wheelchair and pushed himself out. He wondered to himself aloud, “Is there going to be a new ruler of S City?”
He climbed to this position smoothly without much effort but his reign was chaotic. All the mess came to him.
“Mr. Gu, people are asking to see you.” Old Xi came back in and saw him at the door.
“Who is it?” Gu Yan asked.
Old Xi whispered, “I think they’re reporters. Do you want to see them?”
Gu Yan signaled to Old Xi to push him out. When they reached the main gate, there was no sign of the reporters. However, a cake dropped from a tree and smashed into Gu Yan.
Suddenly, a wild cat dashed over from the other side of the road and bumped into Gu Yan. Gu Yan flew out of his wheelchair and smashed into the door.
“Mr. Gu!” Old Xi was dumbfounded!
A cracking sound was heard from Gu Yan’s injured leg. Old Xi rushed him to the hospital in the middle of the night.
The Xiao family chambers in the middle of the mountain.
Gu Chuyan ate her breakfast, took her medicine, and slept soundly the entire day. When she woke up, it was already evening. She lay in her bed and looked at the evening sun. It felt unreal.
She sat up and stared at the scene outside the window.
“Ouch.” She accidentally hit her wound when she moved. She lifted her hand and touched her forehead.
“Squeak.” The door opened and Xiao Mohan walked in.
“You’re back?” Gu Chuyan looked at him awkwardly.
She didn’t know who helped her change when she was asleep. Aside from Xiao Mohan and her, the only person left in the villa was Han Changqing.
Gu Chuyan felt like burying herself when she thought about this. Hence, she would never ask Xiao Mohan about it.
“Yes. Does your wound still hurt? Let me take a look.” Xiao Mohan came forward and sat down. He touched her forehead and examined her properly. He gently felt the areas around her wound with his fingertips.
“It’s just a small injury. I’m fine,” she replied.
“Let’s go to the hospital for a check-up,” Xiao Mohan suggested. He was still worried.
