Being so pretty, Gao Enying naturally had many pursuers, but she remained single, raising her son and daughter with difficulty and joy.
“Ai Meimei became someone’s mistress,” An Ze said with disdain. “I’m telling Sister to stay away from her, so she doesn’t get dirty.”
An Ze’s words made Gao Enying blanch, but she didn’t comment. She just looked at An Ran and said calmly, “Come eat after you hang up the clothes. I’ll make your favorite sweet and sour fish.”
“Okay.” An Ran pushed down her unsettled feelings and forced a smile.

Every night after Gao Enying got off work, she would put up a stand in the nearby night market to make some extra cash. She was confused why the loan sharks didn’t come anymore, but she would never think that An Ran had secretly paid them already.
The loan sharks only said that someone helped her pay and Gao Enying didn’t press further.
Sunday, An Ran had to go back to school and helped Gao Enying bring the goods to the night market along the way. The night market was across from a leisure square. One of the tall buildings had an LED screen playing the news.
An Ran helped Gao Enying organize the goods and happened to see the LED screen. But when Ye Chengwei with sunglasses appeared coldly on the screen, she subconsciously had a fright.
The camera gave Ye Chengwei a closeup shot. He wore a black collared shirt, but it couldn’t hide his natural handsomeness.
Then the shortcut to a funeral hall. A woman’s portrait appeared in the view. She looked to be in her fifties. Even though it was a funeral portrait, she didn’t seem gentle at all. Instead, she had a sharp aura.
The voiceover said, “Song Yunlin, wife of Gu Cheng, died on X year, X month, X day, X time…”
Beside An Ran, someone said, “So what if you’re rich? When the Grim Reaper comes, you still have to give up your life.”
“That Gu Family is the second wealthiest family of A City, second only to the Ye Family. I heard the two families are pretty close.”
“The second has way less capital than the first. The Gu Family rests under the shadow of the Ye Family.”
“Let’s just do our business. We have nothing to do with those wealthy families.”
“You’re right.”
Listening on, An Ran snapped back to reality and realized she’d spaced out for too long. She hadn’t hung up the clothes in her hands yet. Afraid that Gao Enying would realize something, she hurriedly hung the clothes up, but she discovered that Gao Enying was staring blankly at the LED screen. Her eyes were deep and far away.
“Mom,” she called softly.
“Oh.” Gao Enying seemed to wake up with a shock and smiled hastily at An Ran. “Ranran, go to school. It’s getting late.”
“Mn.” An Ran smiled. She picked up her backpack and hugged Gao Enying. “Don’t stay out selling for too long.”
“I know. Stay safe.” Gao Enying’s expression recovered. She smiled gently at her daughter and started getting busy.
An Ran walked toward the bus station. There was still an hour before the evening study hall. There was still time.
As soon as she got to the station, a BMW drove over suddenly. Her heart jumped.
Wasn’t this Ye Chengwei’s car? Why was it here?
The car stopped before her. Zhang, the driver, was dressed impeccably. He got out of the car. After smiling at An Ran, he went around and opened the door of the front seat. “Miss An,” he said softly. “Please get in.”
The people waiting for the bus all looked at An Ran. This driver followed so many rules. They’d only seen this scene on TV, so it successfully aroused everyone’s curiosity.
