Chapter 3
Prologue III
“I’m sorry for the trouble that I’ve caused you. I know it’s the kind of thing that you’d prefer to avoid, but you still offered to help me.”
“No, no, you didn’t trouble me at all… ‘m sorry for being noisy.”
“You don’t have to apologize. To be honest, I was starting to think I was in trouble… I thought that whatever I said to her would just make her more angry. But it doesn’t mean that I would just be quiet in that situation, because that would be the worst thing that I would do.”
For many years, I had the impression that teachers didn’t want to admit that they were helped by their students.
Kishikawa-sensei shattered that impression with a single word.
“Thanks to you, I was saved in that situation. Thank you… will you allow me to express my gratitude in anyway?”
The teacher, who is the focus of a lot of students’ admiration and is known as a goddess, is right now looking at me with a gentle smile on her face while blushing.
However, I mustn’t misinterpret what she is doing.
As there’s no way that this thankful feeling of hers will be the beginning of anything.
Since those things only happen in novels and animes, that’s why I thought there was nothing wrong with accepting her kindness. However, I still felt that I had to decline her offer.
I was so bound by common sense that it would be natural to decline her.
“I appreciate your kindness, but I really didn’t do anything great.”
I thought that would be a safe word to start with. As I guessed, sensei felt indebted to me even for what I had done. That’s why I thought that directly declining her offer was the right move in this situation.
“I see. Then I’ll think of a way to thank you to the extent that you will accept it without hesitation. Don’t worry because I’m doing this for myself.”
It was an unexpectedly innocent reply.
Even though she was called a female knight sensei, the way she said “I see” to me was so honestly said that I thought it was cute, even though I knew that I shouldn’t have thought that.
I had never thought that I had a weakness for a beautiful woman, but when I actually encountered such a situation, I realized that I have a weakness for an older woman, especially a woman who is kind to me.
“Are you a freshman? If so, did you join any clubs yet?”
“I’m not going to join any clubs in high school because I want to concentrate on my studies.”
“I see. Well, if it’s studying, I wonder if I can help you with that.”
When Kishikawa-sensei said that happily, I thought that it was just her having a way with words, as she’s the kind of teacher that has the skill to teach different kinds of subjects and it’s very natural for her to teach a student how to study.
But when I heard that, I started having different delusions.
A teacher giving me a private lesson, not to mention the kind of teacher that is a beautiful woman with proportions that even a model would envy. After a while, I went back to reality and realized that these delusions would never happen and that I should not get my hopes up because if I did even a slightly perverted thing to her, I would be immediately reprimanded by her.
“You seem very busy, Sensei, so it’s fine even if you don’t do that. Furthermore, I don’t think it’s a good idea to just give a private lesson to a specific student because it will cause jealousy in other students and they will accuse you of favoritism.”
“Yeah… I suppose that’s true. Then what should I do to thank you? Would you eat it if I made you some chocolates?”
Kishikawa-sensei was gradually getting impatient as she was slowly getting close to me.
She’s a little shorter than me, but maybe it’s because of her aura or something similar to that, that I feel that she’s a lot bigger than me and I felt a sense of danger that she might push me down.
“Ye… yeah if you make some chocolates, then I would eat them, but please stop staring at me with those eyes… Waa!”
Sensei then approaches me again and puts her hands on my shoulders. When she did that, I immediately choked up as she was so close to me that I could count the number of her eyelashes.
“If you’ll eat it, then that’s fine, but in the way you said it, it feels like I’m trying to force you to eat the chocolates that I would make. So it feels like I’m not thanking you at all.”
“Do… don’t mind that, it… it’s fine… also, Sensei… this distance between you and I is really dangerous…”
While I was panicking, something hit my body. It’s soft and very big, and it feels like a marshmallow.
“You do know that I know that you’re not paying attention to what I’m saying because you are always looking at your surroundings, right? I thought you were a serious person who didn’t show your emotions too much, so it’s really strange that you are being flustered right now.”
“I… I’m not panicking or anything, it’s just that it’s common sense for a student and a teacher to not be so close together, especially in a hallway after school. And if a parent sees you, you will be fired immediately. “
“It’s not unusual for a teacher to get close to her students. Also, I’m not going to get a red card for interacting with my students, right? And if I do get a yellow card, then I can still stay on the field until I get another one. That’s in the rules, you know.”*
Our bodies touching each other is definitely a red card. And if a disciplinary committee chairman saw us in this situation, he would definitely run around while blowing his whistle… though in reality, those kinds of disciplinary committee members only exist in anime.
Since we just met, I was reluctant to push her away, and until Kishikawa-sensei moved away from me, I had no choice but to stay in this situation and continue to look at her really closely.
Note:
1. That’s the exact translation. This is the edited one. “I’m not going to get fired for interacting with my students right? Also if I get reprimanded for my actions then I would still be able to teach. That’s in the rules, you know.” but since the next line references this line so I didn’t change it.
