- Chapter 3 - Ore No “Zen Jido Shien” De Nakama Tachi Ga Sekai Saikyo ~ Soko Ni Iru Dake Mujikaku Musou ~ Chapter 3
After a while, I left the house of the old lady and went back to the guild.
As soon as I entered the guild, I could hear lively voices coming from the tavern.
A lot of adventurers are looking for work at the quest board, while some of them are talking to the receptionist about whether to accept or turn in their quest.
Without any hesitation, I went straight to the receptionist’s desk.
“Excuse me.”
“Welcome to the adventurer’s guild. Is this your first time in the guild?”
“Huh? Ah, well… I used to be an adventurer, but I retired for some reason, and right now, I don’t have any money on me, that’s why I came here looking for a job.”
“Hmmm… so you are a former adventurer, huh? And now you want to come back as one… I see… Do you have your adventurer’s badge with you?”
“I’m sorry, but I didn’t think that I would need it; that’s why I don’t have it in me right now.”
“If that’s the case, then please fill out this form so that I can get your information to our headquarters.”
“Can I really prove my identity with this?”
“Yes, since that’s magic ink, as long as you write your name, in this form, we can identify it and determine whether you’re really the person you claim to be or not.”
Is such a thing really possible? Well, if it is, then I just need to write my real name and some information about myself.
After writing down the necessary information that they needed, I handed over the form to the receptionist, and when she received it, she went inside the room in the back.
It looks like it’s taking a while, so I’m just standing in front of the receptionist desk doing nothing.
“Hey, what did you just say?!”
I then heard a commotion inside the tavern.
“I’ve said that instead of you touching my ass, you should hunt even just one goblin! You pervert old man!”
The one who she called a perverted old man is an adventurer with a beard, has a red face, and is clearly drunk.
And the one who was accusing him was a blonde elf woman with long ears.
Even for an elf, she was extremely attractive. And it doesn’t help that she’s wearing very light equipment, which is quite revealing and shows a lot of her features.
Or is it more accurate to say that she’s almost naked?
I’m not sure how to describe it properly, but for some reason her outfit only covers her most important part; even her buttocks aren’t that hidden that much, and you can clearly see them.
That’s why it’s not hard to imagine why the bearded adventurer was so aroused by her.
Well, in fact, when you look at her, it’s really a feast for the eyes.
But, judging from their equipment, it looks like the bearded man is a veteran adventurer.
And the elf is a beginner, as most elves who come to a tavern-type guild are just beginners who are just starting out as adventurers.
Perhaps she’s still naïve about how the world works, as it looks like she just came out of her home forest.
Well, to be honest, arguments and fights between adventurers are so common that it feels like it’s an adventurer’s second nature to fight and argue with someone inside the guild.
“Would you two please stop it?”
I tried to intervene in their fight by walking in between them.
Fighting and physical confrontation in the guild are forbidden, as it would really become a big deal if someone got hurt.
Since I’m a former adventurer, I’m their senior in this profession, so I have to fulfill my obligations to stop them.
“What are you doing? Don’t interfere in this.”
As expected, it was the elf woman who was the first to confront me. She speaks in a common trade language instead of Elvish, but she has a peculiar accent, and her pronunciation isn’t that good either.
On the other side, the bearded adventurer is grinning and shrugging.
“It’s just what this fella said. I’m just giving you a little baptism of the guild. So you should be grateful for that.”
“Who would be grateful to you? You perverted idiot!”
“Both of you, please calm down. Elf-san, if you attack an adventurer with a higher rank than you, then you are playing right into their hands.”
Maybe she didn’t like my advice, as the elf woman turned her emerald green eyes towards me and glared at me sharply.
“Also you, bearded adventurer, what you did wasn’t a baptism, it was just pure sexual harassment, no matter how you put it.”
“What did you just say?”
The voice of the bearded adventurer was a mixture of superiority, given his rank, and a considerable amount of bloodlust.
When the elf woman heard that, she held her breath and retreated for a bit.
It looks like she finally realized that the bearded adventurer was superior to her in terms of skill.
“You! I haven’t seen your face around here, and judging from what you are wearing, hemp clothes that don’t include any armor, it looks like you are just starting out as an adventurer.”
When the bearded adventurer said that he splashed a cup of water on my face.
If it’s that much, then that won’t be considered an assault. The guild rule has a lot of gray areas, but it’s clearly a provocation.
Also, my “other skill” didn’t automatically activated.
“Anyone in this guild who talks rudely to me needs to be taught a lesson. Hey you! Get out!”
“…I think it would be better for you if you stopped right now.”
Fights between adventurers inside the guilds are prohibited.
However, if it’s outside, then it would become a matter between two people, which is why the guild won’t interfere.
Of course, breaking the law isn’t okay either, which is why if the guards saw people fighting, they would get caught and be thrown in prison.
“I… it was my fault. As I’ve said too much, that’s why…”
The elf woman then admits her mistake. Did she realize that what she did was wrong, or is she worried about me?
“Don’t worry, it has nothing to do with you anymore. This is between me and that guy.”
When I said that, the elf woman started going around asking for help.
But the other adventurers ignored her, and they pretended that they didn’t see anything.
The guild members are also feigning ignorance, so she couldn’t find any help.
“Hey! Follow me.”
“Haa… well, it looks like it can’t be helped.”
Following the bearded adventurer, I left the guild.
