Just as the boy’s palm swung toward the teenager, a slender hand squeezed his tiny arm firmly.
It hurt so much he almost dropped a tear.
“Who are you? Let go of this Prince, or I will make Imperial Father kill you!” The boy glared furiously at the plainly-clad woman in front of him as he threatened her brutishly.
This threat worked with anyone, and the figure in front of him would be no exception. Soon, she would be on her knees begging him for mercy.
Who made his father the Emperor of Ziyue Country? Everyone was right to fear him!
Mu Ruyue raised her eyebrows. The boy before her was only about five years old, but he was the son of Emperor Ziyue, who was nearly seventy years old. It seemed that the royalty were indeed studs.
“Who am I?” Mu Ruyue laughed quietly. “I’m the waste you were talking about, the Ghost King’s fiancée. But even if I’m a waste, I’m enough to deal with a brat like you.”
Bam!
Mu Ruyue tossed him to the ground hard and swept a glance across the stunned princes and princesses. Her voice turned cold and steely.
“Remember, he’s Mu Ruyue’s husband! I don’t care how old you are, much less who your father is. I will give anyone who dares to harm him a taste of my abilities.”
The girl’s voice was obviously weak, but it sent chills into the heart.
Ye Wuchen stared at Mu Ruyue with hidden thoughts running through his mind.
“Let’s go.”
Mu Ruyue turned around and grabbed the teenager’s hand then pulled him away from the place, not caring about the group of dumbfounded royals behind them in the slightest.
She had always been an uncompromising devil and could be equally unrelenting whether the other person was a child or a senior. This was a world where the weak were prey to the strong.
“Sister.” Ye Wuchen kept his sparkling eyes on Mu Ruyue. A clear smile emerged on his face and his eyes were clean, bright, and unadulterated. “You’re so kind to me.”
Mu Ruyue paid no heed to him and just pulled him straight forward.
Finally, when they arrived at an empty corner, Mu Ruyue stopped, turned to look at the teenager behind her, and asked, “Are you the Ghost King?”
Under her watchful gaze, Ye Wuchen nodded. “Mhmm.”
“Looks like there are some discrepancies from the rumors,” Mu Ruyue said with an eyebrow raised in amusement. “I heard the Ghost King looks like a ghost, so it took me a while to register that you’re the Ghost King.”
Ye Wuchen shuddered for a moment then lowered his head while saying bitterly, “I’m really, really ugly. I scared all the maids out of their wits. But it’s not my face that’s ugly. It’s this…..”
Pointing at his body, Ye Wuchen continued helplessly, “Sister, I’m awfully ugly here. Don’t you look at me, okay? You’ll be scared witless too.”
“Don’t worry, I’m not so fragile. There seems to be something wrong with your body. Can you let me see? As a couple that’s going to live together in the future, it’s always important to have all the information upfront.”
“But…”
Ye Wuchen still wanted to talk her out of it, but Mu Ruyue no longer had any patience. She directly and roughly ripped off his clothes and couldn’t help but gasp at the sight of what was hidden underneath.
His body was packed with scars that resembled cloth-like earthworms with traces of blood. Because of these scars, his originally fair skin looked hideously ghoulish.
However, Mu Ruyue could tell at a glance that Ye Wuchen had been poisoned. She could detoxify this poison but didn’t have that ability yet.
At that moment, Ye Wuchen’s eyes were shut tight in fear, not daring to look at Mu Ruyue at all, perhaps scared of seeing the same spiteful disgust in her eyes present in others.
“Open your eyes!”
A commanding voice rang in his ears.
Ye Wuchen carefully studied Mu Ruyue through the narrow slits of his eyes. He couldn’t spot a hint of disgust in her eyes; instead, they were as clear as a spring.
“Sister, I… am I not ugly?”
“It’s just a bit of poison; it’s no big deal.” Mu Ruyue smiled faintly, “You need to look straight at your body’s problems. Don’t worry about how other people look at you. Their mouths grow on them, and they say what they like. If you constantly worry about others’ opinions, wouldn’t that be simply working yourself to death?”
