Phoenix Cry Firmament - Chapter 41
Chapter 41: Broken Ties (3)
Ye Wuchen’s good-looking brows furrowed and he turned to look at Mu Ruyue with doubt. The expression on his handsome face was dorkish, while his pure eyes were unadulterated and clean that made it impossible for anyone to doubt him.
“Wife, who is this old uncle? Why did he call me ‘Young Master’? What’s a young master? Are they edible? And this old uncle is such an idiot for asking me why I came. Of course I came to find my wife. Did he think I came to see him? But I’ve heard people say that this old uncle is a bad man and specializes in cannibalism.”
Once he was done, Mu Qing’s face turned green and it couldn’t be any greener.
“Wayward girl, don’t forget that you’re already engaged to the Ghost King, yet you still dare to mess around with another man outside! Let me teach you what it means to be a virtuous woman!”
Mu Qing raised his hand and swung fiercely at Mu Ruyue, but at that moment, Ye Wuchen seemed to inadvertently look at him with disdain. All of a sudden – PLOP – Mu Qing roughly slumped to his knees in front of Mu Ruyue.
“Wife, why is this old uncle kneeling to you?” Ye Wuchen blinked innocently as if ignorant to what had just happened.
However, when he turned around and met her quizzical eyes, his heart thumped. He seemed to have overdone it. This woman couldn’t have sniffed out anything, right?
“Wife?” Ye Wuchen blinked and looked at Mu Ruyue with a pair of innocent and alluring eyes.
It was only after confirming the incomprehension in his eyes that Mu Ruyue withdrew her doubt. Perhaps that was just an illusion.
If Ye Wuchen was really playing dumb, then this man’s black-belliedness was by no means low.
With this in mind, she looked at Mu Qing, who was kneeling on the ground, and said, “Father, please get up. You really shame your daughter. Oh, right, you should talk to Sister Ting’er about the virtues of a woman. She gave herself to Ye Tianfeng before marriage. Was that virtuous? Not to mention that this behavior was condoned by you.”
Although she was speaking with a smile, the chill in her eyes couldn’t be dispelled by any means.
A cold drop of sweat slid down Mu Qing’s forehead. He clenched his fists tightly and crawled up from the ground with shame fiercely gnawing at his heart.
“Mu Ruyue!” Mu Qing roared furiously, “Kneel down this instant!”
As if she hadn’t heard Mu Qing’s roar, the corners of Mu Ruyue’s mouth hooked into a faint arc and plain contempt was visible in her eyes.
“Good, very good.” Mu Qing laughed irately. “Since you’re so disgraceful, I’m expelling you from the Mu Family and removing your name from the clan records!”
He thought Mu Ruyue would fall to her knees and beg for forgiveness at this threat, but there was nothing. All she did was smirk at him, a smirk that unnerved Mu Qing’s heart.
“All right, that’s a good decision. I wouldn’t want to stay in a place like this anyway.”
Turning a blind eye to Mu Qing’s incensed face, Mu Ruyue smiled and turned around, dragging Ye Wuchen away without even waiting for permission.
“Bang!”
With a smack of Mu Qing’s palm, the table instantly cracked in half. He didn’t seem to feel the pain in his hand, for he just stared deadly at Mu Ruyue’s departing figure. With gritted teeth, he roared, “Mu Ruyue, you’ll regret this!”
Regret? Mu Ruyue laughed. She hadn’t known what regret was since the day she was born.
“Father.” Mu Yixue just looked spell-bound at Ye Wuchen’s retreating back and said domineeringly, “I got my eyes on that man. I want to marry him.”
