- Chapter 23 - Please Don’t Come To The Villainess’ Stationery Store! Chapter 23
“Dominique! I’m going to go for it!”
I stretched my palm out like Dominique did.
There wasn’t a mana sphere as big as Dominique’s, but there was still a small ball of magic floating on my hand.
Good. Little kids, just you wait! I’ll play with you with all my heart and soul!
‘I can’t believe I can make something really unique without getting it delivered!’
I was happy at the thought of honing my talent.
“Come on now, let’s do what we can right now.”
“What we can do right now?”
“Yeah! Let’s make some beer candy!”
Dominique sighed as if the ground was going to collapse.
“Expand your hand.”
I quickly stretched out my hand.
“And imagine making a round sphere.”
“Round sph…”
I stretched out my hand and then closed my eyes.
Beer candy, what it looks like…
“Listen well. I’m only going to say it once.”
Dominique started to briefly explain the gist of first-degree alchemy.
One, get the basic ingredients for making beer candy. In this case, the materials should not be circular.
For example, you can’t make beer candy by bringing barley into alcohol before it ferments.
Two, the design or outline of beer candy are specifically thought out in your head.
As an alchemist, there was no need to use complicated magic like a wizard.
Three, feel the white light in your hand and send the mana to the materials.
‘Good, I can do it!’
A few hours later.
I stared ahead.
300cc of freshly poured beer, sugar, and starch syrup in an oak keg. Since there wasn’t enough ingredients, a beginner wizard cannot make candy with this.
However, an alchemist was a person who can create new things by adding mana to insufficient materials.
I worked hard to make beer candy according to Dominique’s teachings.
“You’ve run out of mana.”
My mana was exhausted.
“It will take some time for you to recover your mana. About a day.”
Ten fresh yellow candies with soft white bubble-like candy on top of them were arranged one by one in front of me.
Looking at the candy that was made in the same way as I was thinking, made me full without eating.
However, after making ten, my mana disappeared and my body became weak.
Is this what it feels like when my mana is exhausted?
“I’m tired…”
I was so exhausted that I could only murmur.
“I wonder how it tastes.
Dominique picked up a candy naturally. Dominique replied with a smile after chewing.
“The texture is crunchy-.”
Bur I got flustered for a moment when I was listening to Dominique’s review.
Because his voice became strongly high. Like he inhaled helium gas.
“…you, what’s wrong with your voice?”
We looked at each other with wide eyes.
“Cough, cough!”
Dominique hit his Adams apple a few times, coughed a few times, and spoke with the look of ‘oh no.’
“Before, I was bored when you were practicing, so I tapped the candy and tried any kind of magic… ah, my voice really isn’t cool.”
I burst into laughter at Dominique’s whining.
“I can’t believe I’m caught in a joke that kids and a few hundred adults would love.”
His long eyes drooped downward.
I patted him and whispered.
“Undo it quickly, Dominique.”
I stopped unpacking the candy right away.
“Wait, what did you say earlier?”
“Before? That I’m great?”
…this brat.
“You said it’s a joke that kids would like, right?”
Yeah…so kids like this, right? It’s a playful, cute, and childish in a way, but it’s fun.
I looked at Dominique in the eye and whispered seriously.
“You know, why don’t you put some simple magic on the candy?”
“Simple magic?”
“Yeah, life magic that alters the voice for about a minute. Something simple that you can do.”
Three seconds.
It was the time it took for our eyes to meet jump up and down and give each other high fives.
“What do we do, we must be geniuses!”
“I agree with that.”
I gallantly carried on with two of the precious beer candies in my hand.
“Then I’ll go ask Lessa.”
“I’m sure she’ll like it.”
I shook up bravely.
Dominique smiled and stroke my head as if he were my brother.
“Be careful when you go out. Call my name in your head whenever you’re in a hurry. We can connect in times of crisis.”
That was a cool thing to say… but with that high voice, it’s kind of strange.
But excited by the new idea, I nodded energetically.
“Yeah!”
I left out stationary store keeper behind and slipped out.
We need to get a confirmation from Lessa and write a contract!
***
At that time, Isaac was near Meldenique’s stationary store and the Academy.
He stood under a huge wall at the academy with Henry, a little wizard he brought with him.
Nominally, it was to catch the thief suspect, but to be exact it was because he was curious about Meldenique. The problem though…
“Finally, I’m taking on my first outside job!”
There was a young hump running around.
Henry’s plump cheeks swelled out and went back in.
Isaac asked Henry, scrubbing his tiny head, “Are you nervous?”
“No! Mr. Rasmus said to just find out who the thief is!”
‘I was going to go alone.’
But Rasmus was dead set against it.
He thought that Meldenique was the suspected thief, but he was afraid that Isaac would do something to Meldenique.
Nominally, if the owner of the tower, which belonged to the palace, kills the high-ranking aristocrats himself, the tower might be damaged.
‘I don’t have any thoughts of killing her, it’s unfair.’
Isaac slowly closed his eyes, smiled, and thought.
“It’s exciting to be outside the tower.”
“Yes, it’s fresh!”
“Well, playing with Henry isn’t bad.”
He stood far away and stared at the yellow building. Seeing that the signboards were well placed, he thought that she really was doing business.
According to Rasmus, Meldenique went to the front of the Academy because she wanted to get along with young children.
‘It’s a little…fascinating.’
Isaac patted the little boy’s brown curly hair and replied affectionately, “Then just say a few words.”
Just the way she treated a child will give a sense of what she’s like.
Henry’s plump lips, which didn’t know Isaac’s heart, spoke.
“Yes, it’s easy for me to bewitch an old human being.”
At the age of five, he was famous for being a genius and a bookworm, but his language development was a little slow.
There weren’t many people who can hurt Henry’s nose. He was one of the most capable child wizard in the tower.
“Please trust me. That human will definitely not be able to beat me.”
Henry’s tiny hand pointed forward.
“I’ll be back.”
“Have some fun.”
“No! Mr. Rasmus asked me to investigate with anger.”
Isaac tilted his head to the side and laughed.
“Yeah, but don’t bully her.”
Henry nodded and walked solemnly.
Isaac leaned back on the wall and looked at Henry.
He moves on the basis of curiosity. And Meldenique’s existence itself raised curiosity.
The most important thing was the bizzarely woven flow of mana in her.
What is the limit of your power? Why are you here of all places? Lastly…
‘What happened with Duke Hesman.’
When he remembered Duke Hesman’s blank expression, he laughed out loud.
In fact, he didn’t intend to concentrate on exploring or investigating Meldenique.
‘It’s too obvious…’
Isaac hummed and thought while looking at Meldenique who was walking slowly.
‘…she’s too obviously harmless. The outside and inside look the same.’
He hid himself in the shade as he watched Henry run fast with his short legs.
