Chapter 23 Refusing Treatment
Ning Shan was furious. “Mom, sister and I are both your daughters. Why are you so biased towards me?”
Gu Minghuai snapped his fingers and two bodyguards dressed in black immediately came in. “Master, What’s the matter?”
“Ask Mrs. Jiang to leave,” Gu Minghuai ordered in an unfriendly tone. “Yes.” The two bodyguards looked at Mrs. Ning. “Mrs. Jiang, please!”
Which noble family hadn’t heard of the way the fourth master Gu dealt with people? It was cruel, ruthless, and decisive. Mrs. Ning was scared and frightened of Gu Minghuai. She didn’t even dare to complain and left on her own.
“Wait a minute,” Ning Shan hurriedly called out. “You’ve made my dad very sick, and you still haven’t given us an answer…”
Ning Zhiyuan was woken up at this time and coughed lightly.
Ning Shan wanted to chase after her, but she didn’t have the time to care about anything else. She went up to help him up in surprise. “Dad, you’re finally awake.”
Ning Zhiyuan was helped up to sit by the bedside, he looked around the ward. A handsome man in a gray suit with an extraordinary disposition was sitting in a wheelchair, staring at him. He immediately remembered what Mrs. Ning had said before, and his face instantly lost all color. He desperately struggled to pull out the needle in his hand.
Ning Shan was scared out of her wits and quickly rushed over to stop him. “Dad, What are you doing? Let go!”
Ning Zhiyuan’s face was filled with pain. “Shanshan, I can’t watch you do the wrong things because of me. I want to stop the treatment!”
“Dad, I didn’t do anything. Don’t listen to rumors by others!” Ning Shan was so anxious that she stomped her feet, and there was a tearful tone in her voice. If her father also misunderstood that she was that kind of person, she would really feel heartbroken and despair.
Ning Zhiyuan took a deep breath and looked at his daughter and the man in a suit in front of him, his tone was firm. “Shanshan, you should leave this man. Although we came from the countryside, I’ve taught you since you were young to be kind, steadfast, and hard-working. You must never use underhanded means to obtain things that don’t belong to you.”
“Dad can’t watch you persist in your stubbornness. Otherwise, your whole life will be ruined, Shanshan!”
Ning Shan was anxious and helpless. She looked at Gu Minghuai with a pleading gaze. Gu Minghuai’s gaze was calm. He went forward to hold Ning Shan’s hand and interlocked his fingers with hers.
The man’s hot palms passed his warmth to Ning Shan, giving her a strange feeling of peace of mind. She knew that Gu Minghuai was helping her, so she gripped his hand slightly as a response.
“Hello, Uncle Ning. I’m the president of the Gu Corporation,” Gu Minghuai said slowly, “I don’t know what those people with ulterior motives said to you just now, but I can tell you with certainty that Ning Shan is already my fiancée. We’re very in love.”
Ning Shan’s beautiful eyebrows twitched, and she secretly took a deep breath to remind herself not to act rashly for the sake of her father’s peace of mind. However, she still couldn’t help but blush.
Ning Zhiyuan frowned and repeated softly, “The president of the Gu Corporation? In Love? But I heard from Ziran that Yun ‘er and you should have been a couple, but because of Shanshan’s interference, the two of you split
up.”
The reason why he believed Mrs. Ning’s words was because both the mother and daughter were dressed beautifully and elegantly. It was obvious that after their remarriage, their social status had improved significantly. And how could the president of the Gu Corporation abandon the well-off Ning Yun and fall in love with Ning Shan?
Ning Zhiyuan shook his head. “President Gu, you’d better tell me the truth.”
He did not believe what the man in front of him had said. Even if the two of them were now engaged, if Ning Shan had snatched the marriage from his sister, he would not agree to the relationship at all.
