Chapter 39: You’re the One Causing Trouble
Until now, Elrond had only used ordinary firearms other than the Golden Revolver.
He managed to escape from New Life Organization with the assistance of the mechanical arms and his 99% critical hit attribute.
He also had extraordinary physical strength. Right now, he was already at level 26. It would be somewhat unjustifiable if he were to continue using ordinary weapons.
Basic Knowledge of Weapons was a book about the process of upgrading ordinary weapons to advanced weapons.
He picked up the other book, Basic Knowledge of Weapon Materials.
He already had an understanding of the basic materials of a mechanical arm.
It was mutually corroborating. Even without the system, Elrond would still be able to pick up this subject quickly.
The book was as thick as three to four dictionaries.
He carefully flipped through each page, and after reading through the whole book, he shut his eyes.
“Ding! Congratulations to the Host for acquiring Basic Knowledge of Weapon Materials.”
“Sigh, it’s so convenient to have a system.”
Although he learned the theory with the help of the system, he had not completed mastered the knowledge. A lot of hands-on practice was still required.
Weapons were made of wood and iron, while bullets with various alloys.
As for those large-scale weapons, the manufacturing process of the materials was even more complicated.
The quality of the materials was important as well. Even if a mechanic had the knowledge to build advanced weapons, the service life would still be affected if one used low-grade materials.
There were also safety issues to consider.
Taking a large-caliber pistol as an example. If the bullets had the power of a sniper rifle, but the material of the gun was only an ordinary pistol, it would likely cause a big problem. If one could not fire the shot, it would explode.
Therefore, the materials used to make weapons were of utmost importance.
To put it bluntly, this was a complicated metallurgy technique.
There was another book on the shelf, “Guide to Basic Refining”.
These three books were a perfect combination.
Elrond took the book and read through it carefully.
Refining was basically to increase the power of the weapon and the purity of the materials.
Refined materials and unrefined materials were completely different.
Even in the era of cold weapons, treasured swords were made with refined iron, while ordinary swords were made with unrefined iron. When the two weapons clashed, there would only be one result. The ordinary sword would break into several pieces.
This book was a perfect match with the book about weapon materials. The combination of the two was equivalent to an upgrade.
If the information from these three books, “Basic Weapons”, “Weapon Materials” and “Basic Refining” were combined, Elrond would be able to forge an advanced weapon for himself.
“Manufacturing and Research on Robots”.
Elrond’s eyes lit up when he saw this book. He had already mastered the technology of the mechanical arm when he was in the experimental base.
If one could apply the technology of the mechanical arm to a robot, it would definitely be an unimaginable result.
Although there was nothing on refining robots, the books on basic refining and weapon materials were sufficient. Ordinary firearms would not break the armor easily.
“I need so many expensive materials are required. I’m broke.”
Taking a break from reading, Elrond made plans to go out.
When he walked out of the door, he saw Mary repairing an old car.
This item was a collectible, something that rich people collected. If one drove it on the roads, it would garner a lot of attention.
However, the quality and appearance had to be guaranteed.
Mary was wearing a pair of micro-mini shorts. The top of her clothes was also tight-fitting, but there were patches on it.
“This Zart is really stingy. He’s not short of money, but why does he let his granddaughter wear such shabby clothes?”
“What are you looking at? Get to work.”
Holding a wrench, Mary wiped her face.
Elrond walked straight towards her.
Mary suddenly became nervous. “Could this guy be a pervert?”
Before she could comprehend the situation, Elrond rubbed a part of her face and said, “Your face is dirty.”
Then he fanned himself with his hands and said, “It’s such a hot day.”
“The documents for the repairs are inside the drawer. Go get it yourself.”
Mary turned around, tiptoed, and continued to check on the machine.
Elrond opened the drawer and looked at the documents. The machine that required repairs was a British cruiser motorcycle, the Rocket. It was at least 100 years old.
Just from reading the instruction manual, Elrond felt that the motorcycle was stunning.
The body was red, and the exhaust was shiny and reflective.
The tires were as wide as a car tire.
The landing gear was steady.
It would be very cool to put on a leather jacket and ride this motorcycle in the streets.
Walking to the motorcycle with the instruction manual, Elrond could tell that it was well maintained and seldom used.
But due to the wear-and-tear, a part of it which was leaking.
A motorcycle oil leak was the most tedious part to repair because the welding technique was not available.
The leak was because of the abrasion from the oil pipe. But it was impossible to change the oil pipe due to the lack of spare parts.
But this was not a problem for Elrond at all.
In just five minutes, he used the mechanical arm’s welding effect and repaired the motorcycle.
“I’m done with the repair. I’m going out for a walk.”
Mary’s eyes widened. She thought of asking Elrond to stay. But eventually, she didn’t say anything because she felt that his salary was just too low.
It was only 50 dollars. They covered Elrond’s lodging and meals, but it was still too little.
What could 50 dollars do? It was only enough to buy some daily necessities but impossible to save a single cent.
In Elrond’s previous life, he visited Wisdernia previously when he played the game.
He knew where the darkness of this place was.
Elrond went straight to a ragged mountain.
The so-called Ragged Mountain was basically a landfill. The garbage piled up into mountains, and there were even households on the top of these mountains.
The discarded items and domestic garbage were equivalent to a considerable amount of wealth.
One should not underestimate the disposal rights for handling garbage. It was the garbage from an entire city.
Whoever could obtain this authority was an important figure.
At the same time, those who did this kind of business were also extremely wealthy.
There was a scenario in Voyage where the quest was to find the materials needed by mechanics in these piles of garbage.
To start the quest, one needed to interact with the mafia as an ordinary person. There were not many who could complete this quest.
However, Elrond was different. He had a certain level of strength now.
He came to the outside of a perimeter wall. The boss’s courtyard was just inside the perimeter wall of this garbage mountain.
Not wasting any time, Elrond knocked on the big iron gate.
“Who is it? Are you f*cking tired of living? What’s the hurry?”
The people inside thought that it was the delivery man who came to deliver the materials. A man opened the door as he mouthed profanities.
It was an old man. His eyes widened when he saw Elrond, and he shouted, “Everyone, come over now!”
In an instant, dozens of ferocious-looking men rushed out from the room.
“What’s going on?”
“Is someone here to cause trouble? Who dares to do that?”
Dozens of people gathered at the door.
All of them had tattoos, piercings, and colorful dyed hair.
A few bronze-skinned women also came out with their weapons.
When they reached the door and saw Elrond, an obese guy picked up a shotgun. He pointed it at Elrond’s forehead and said, “You’re the one causing trouble, right?”
