Su Xiangzhe nodded, drove down the steep slope by the side of the road, and reached the edge of a construction site bordered by a green net. Lu Hao threw a fire to burn the net cleanly, allowing the car to continue driving into the site.
The road on the construction site was made of many temporary, gravel pieces. To get through, they still had to run over some mounds of earth and piles of rocks. Fortunately, their vehicle had a high chassis, which made it not so difficult to pass through such terrain, but everyone in the car was still shaken up quite a bit.
After meandering on the construction site for over twenty minutes, they finally found a road that they could drive onto and successfully shook off the zombie horde following them.
At that moment, there were several green military vehicles parked in the middle of the road ahead.
Su Jin had Mao Qiqi sense the area, and it turned out that a large number of humans had gathered ahead, probably as many as a thousand. With the military vehicles present, Su Jin guessed that this was a temporary refuge.
After yesterday’s rainfall, another batch of ordinary people who got wet were transformed into zombies. Now, with the number of survivors decreasing, various places sent rescue teams to search for surviving people. The places where these survivors were temporarily gathered were now safe refuges.
Didn’t these people worry about nearby zombies attacking the refuge they set up here?
A pair of unshod feet stretched out of the half-open window of a military vehicle, clearly, someone was lying inside resting. The patrol officer Xiao Chen, seeing three identical armored vehicles approaching from afar, reluctantly reported to the feet, “Chief Xing, three armored vehicles are coming this way and are expected to arrive in 3 minutes!”
Xiao Chen’s voice was very loud, startling the person inside the vehicle, prompting them to hurry up and get out of the vehicle.
A man with a scruffy beard sat up, rubbing the back of his incredibly disheveled head, squinting his eyes forward, and asked, “Where? Where? Are those survivors shifting over here?”
After rubbing his eyes, he finally saw the three vehicles the patrol officer mentioned.
My God, armored vehicles, huh? These don’t look like the typical struggling survivors.
He put on a pair of muddy leather shoes from under his seat, opened the door, and jumped out of the vehicle. Wow, these three vehicles looked much more imposing than their own, appearing a whole lot safer.
Seeing the vehicle and people ahead seemingly blocking their way, Su Jin had Su Xiangzhe temporarily stop, unsure of their intentions.
Xing Taining cheerfully knocked on the passenger side window, seeing a handsome, aloof man, he suddenly did not know what to say next.
“Hello, is there something you need?”
Lu Hao had a natural fondness for the military profession, feeling that he was already being very polite.
“Uh, are you also here for the refuge?” Xing Taining felt as if he might be disliked.
“Chief, we were just passing through,” Su Xiangzhe, already grinning, walked down. He was a retired soldier, and seeing military men inevitably brought up a sense of nostalgia.
“Xiao Jin, got a cigarette?”
Mao Zhihang leaned over from the back and asked.
“Uncle, are you thinking…?”
Seeing Mao Zhihang nod his head, Su Jin also understood his intention, and without hesitation, she took out two cartons of good cigarettes from the “space”.
“So you’re from H city, huh? What a coincidence, I served there for two years!” Xing Taining was filled with astonishment. These people had driven from H city to here?! That’s not simple at all, not simple.
