Chapter 34: Unlocking the Secret Scripture of the Ancients
“To be able to leave behind such a spell model, what realm did the existence who wrote the Secret Scripture of the Ancients reach?”
His fingers gently rubbed the cover of the secret scripture hanging on his waist. For some reason, after the initial period of discomfort, he began to like the unique touch of the cover.
Oh right, since he had already broken through to level one, he should be able to unlock some new content.
Anvis’ fingers paused for a moment before he sat down cross-legged on the ground. He removed the “Secret Scripture of the Ancients” from his waist and held it in his hand. He extended his spiritual power to connect with it.
A familiar change occurred again, but Anvis did not pay attention to his surroundings. He could feel that a portion of the book was open to him!
After the strange title page, about half of the book’s content was still firmly “stuck together”. According to its thickness, it seemed to be the main part of the poem before it was unsealed,
After flipping through these parts that could not be read for the time being, Anvis saw another strange symbol that was different from the title page but also occupied the entire page.
Unlike the title page, this page did not make him lose himself in it. But when he stared at the symbol for long, he would feel dizzy.
He checked his spiritual sea and found no changes. He shook his head and turned the page.
There were two pages that could be read. The content was still the previous abstract landscape painting.
But when Anvis stared at them now, the lines of these landscape paintings began to slowly wriggle like living creatures, and then automatically transmitted knowledge into his sea of consciousness.
The words that recorded these contents were different from the main text. They were distorted and contained a terrifying power, emitting an incomparably ancient aura.
Anvis did not know what civilization this language came from. He had never come into contact with them in any lifetime.
But the moment he saw them, he instinctively understood their meaning.
It was two spells:
Touch of Distortion and Flesh Control
The effect of [Touch of Distortion] was to summon a pitch-black tentacle constructed by magic power and wrap it tightly around the enemy. Enemies who touched the tentacle would have strange whispers in their minds.
This reduces the enemy’s rationality and causes severe mental disturbances. Enemies with lower willpower will be left unable to cast spells.
As the duration of contact between the enemy and the tentacles increased, the whispers in their minds would become stronger. Even if they were separated from the tentacles, the whispering would not disappear immediately. Instead, it would gradually weaken as it did when it appeared.
[Flesh Control] could be used to control the recipient’s flesh and blood. However, the recipient had to be touched by the recipient, and it had to be of a lower level than the recipient or did not resist.
The caster could choose a small modification or a destructive modification.
Furthermore, this spell could be used on him.
Anvis instantly understood the nature of these two spells. He could rely on his instincts to cast these two spells, but there were no models in his sea of consciousness, nor were there any spell-casting gestures or incantations.
“There are no models, and there are no spells or gestures. Rather than calling it a spell, it’s more like a bloodline talent-type spell ability.”
Anvis suddenly had a strange thought.
‘No, there might be spells and gestures, but that might not be possible with human body structure…’
He dispelled the thoughts in his mind and cast Distortion. A black tentacle as thick as a wrist emerged from the ground and wriggled in the air.
Looking closely at the tentacle, Anvis tried to manipulate it to roll up a rock. The tentacle easily did that.
After that, he tried to use his tentacles to pick up heavier items. It was only when he finally tried the cage containing the butcher beast that his tentacles showed signs of weakening.
He touched the tentacle again, and a faint voice sounded in his head. It was very similar to the whisper he heard when he first read the secret scripture of the Ancients, but it did not have any adverse effect on Anvis.
“Its strength is roughly equivalent to a peak level one warrior. I just don’t know what effect this whisper will have on other creatures.”
As he thought about it, Anvis’ gaze couldn’t help but turn towards those beasts once more.
“Just you—”
“Hmph!”
He grabbed another beast. Yes, it was still the one with the white stripes—Anvis had something against it.
The beast was once again placed on the ground by magic hand and then bound firmly by the binding circle. It looked around listlessly and shook its round tail.
Then, an indistinguishable black tentacle suddenly emerged from its side and wrapped around its thigh.
“Hmph—hmph—!”
The beast was startled and immediately wanted to struggle free. However, due to the binding formation, it could only passively endure the entanglement of the tentacles.
As time passed, the condition of this butcher clearly became irritated, and his entire body even more so continuously struggled.
“So, the effect is similar to Mania? Or Confusion?”
After canceling the Touch of Distortion, Anvis pointed his staff at the beast’s forehead from afar and cast a Sleeping Spell.
A wave of magic flashed past, and the beast instantly collapsed onto the ground in a daze. He started snoring, and saliva even flowed out from the corner of his mouth.
Seeing that the beast had fallen into a deep sleep, Anvis reached out and pressed on the white stripes on its back, activating flesh manipulation.
The skin on the back of the butcher started to wiggle at a visible rate. The straight white stripes started to fold and bend, and connected together…
In the end, it became a heart shape.
Anvis chose a smaller modification. He could feel that the effect of flesh manipulation was not simply modifying the surface skin, but completely altering the arrangement of deep flesh and blood.
During this process, this beast did not have any reaction. This meant that this modification was very likely painless, or perhaps the pain was not much.
The effect of the low-level Sleeping Spell was not strong. If the pain was too intense, the beast that had been hit by the Sleeping Spell might have been awakened.
Moreover, the most important thing was that although the flesh and blood tissues had been moved far, they seemed to have grown there from the beginning, and there were no adverse reactions!
Anvis was very sure that the magic effect had ended after he ended the manipulation of flesh and blood.
This proved one point: the reason why these flesh and blood remained active was not because of magic power, but because they could perform a normal nutritional cycle like other ordinary flesh and blood tissues!
It had to be known that although many mage could also achieve this level of preciseness, they were at least spellcasters above level six and had a deep understanding of biological transformation.
Just like this spell, it could make a Rank 1 Mage who didn’t know anything about biological modification instinctively make such a level of modification. Even past Anvis in his previous life had never heard of it.
In order to confirm the subsequent changes, Anvis ordered people to raise this beast in a separate place and prepared to observe it for a period of time.
