Chapter 53: Chapter 53 Abigail Remembers Clark Stone
Three days later, the house procedures were completed, and Abigail did not notify Aunt Claudia for the time being.
Aunt Claudia was getting older and had sustained such serious injuries. Recovery would not come quickly, so Abigail wanted her to rest assured while recovering in the hospital.
As for the appeal, Abigail asked Lawyer Jones to arrange it for mid-May.
This would allow Aunt Claudia to focus on her recovery while also giving Abigail time to recuperate.
After getting through the postpartum period, many things wouldn’t need to be handled so cautiously.
With these plans in place, Abigail spent her days peacefully taking care of little Teddy and practicing Tai Chi in her spare time. Life was quite serene.
What satisfied Abigail the most was the Piers’ chef. The food was rich but not greasy, light but not bland, very suitable for a new mother.
The only discord was Clark Stone.
After ignoring calls from an unknown number several times, the caller finally introduced himself.
Clark Stone, a senior to Abigail and Ruby Green.
Abigail searched through her memories to find that this senior had left a very deep impression on the original Abigail Green.
The Greens and Stones have long been family friends. Abigail had known Clark Stone since early on. Because of a few unintended acts of kindness from him, she had developed feelings for him.
However, due to her low self-esteem and timid nature, she had never expressed her feelings.
From her faint recollections, Abigail discovered that the original Abigail showed up at Brandon Piers’ hotel that day because she had drunk alcohol to confess to Clark Stone.
Who would have thought, an accident would occur, and Abigail Green never got the chance to say those four words.
“I like you.”
A young girl’s feelings are always so touching. Reflecting on Abigail Green’s bittersweet past, Abigail couldn’t help but feel a tinge of melancholy.
Unlike Abigail Green, her own teenage years were spent in a lab. While others were experiencing first loves, she was dissecting rabbits. While others were dating, she was dissecting cadavers. When others got married and had children, she started performing thoracic surgeries.
Naturally, all for saving lives.
So this type of youthful naivety was something Abigail had never experienced. Her infatuation with her senior, Jeffrey Foster, was because she admired his medical skills and wanted to discuss medical matters more deeply. She believed they could become soulmates.
Completely different from Abigail Green’s girlish crush.
Yet, the outcomes were unexpectedly similar.
She hadn’t had the chance to confess to her senior before unexpectedly dying in the operating room, just as Abigail Green had died before confessing her feelings.
“What a pity…” Abigail murmured lightly after reflecting.
She didn’t know whether she felt regret for herself or for Abigail Green.
Thinking about it, Abigail picked up her phone and replied to Clark Stone, “Oh, it’s you, senior. I’ll be on time tomorrow.”
She didn’t know how much Clark Stone liked Abigail Green, but since he had been persistent in seeking her out, he must have had some feelings for her.
Abigail knew she couldn’t reciprocate these feelings, nor could she continue loving this person on Abigail Green’s behalf. The only thing she could do was bring a proper closure.
“I hope you won’t blame me,” Abigail gently said to herself.
“Ab…Abigail, you…”
“Huh?” Abigail finished mumbling and then heard a startled cry, thinking the original Abigail had returned. She caught herself, realizing it was Kelly’s voice and looked up, puzzled. “Kelly, why are you so startled?”
Kelly didn’t answer Abigail but instead turned to close the door before coming back and pointing to Abigail’s chest. “You… did you just give birth?”
Unlike Brandon Piers, Kelly had experience. She immediately noticed the milk leakage from Abigail.
Abigail looked down and took a deep breath. She had originally planned to find a chance to tell Kelly, but now it seemed unnecessary.
