Chapter 776: Chapter 770: Getting Ready to Visit the Younger Daughter
Nangong Shulan was busiest in the morning and at noon, but after those two periods, she could catch her breath.
After listening, Qin Lei agreed with her reasoning. After all, their youngest daughter was the treasure of their family, and they had not seen her in a long time, which made them uneasy.
The best thing about their family was that all three children were equally loved by their parents, especially Qin Xue, who was pampered the most. This made their children’s relationships with each other much stronger and more united and loving than those of other families in the village. This was what the couple was most satisfied and pleased with.
Many people in the village envied the Qins’ family atmosphere, but they didn’t know that this family always communicated well and calmly, never arguing or fighting. In comparison, children who grew up in families where violence and verbal abuse were the norm could not match the Qin children. So, no matter how much other families envied them, they would never be able to reach their level unless they made improvements in how they treated each other.
“Alright, I’ll listen to you. But if you’re too busy, you can do less or even take the day off tomorrow,” Qin Lei still cared for his wife’s well-being.
“No, we have regular customers now, and it’s not good to close the store. Don’t worry about me. If you’re concerned, just go see the kids and then come back early to help me,” Nangong Shulan said gently to her husband.
“Okay.” After listening to her, Qin Lei agreed and resolved to come back early to help her the next day.
After the couple finished washing the dishes and cleaning the store, they prepared the car to go home.
“Let’s buy something for your parents, they’ve been working hard helping us look after the house recently,” Nangong Shulan suggested, as they had earned some money and could now afford to buy some items for her in-laws.
“Alright, what should we buy?” Qin Lei had no objections and was grateful for his wife’s consideration towards his parents. He would only treat her better in return.
“I noticed that your mother hasn’t been in good spirits lately, perhaps because she hasn’t been sleeping well. Let’s buy her some lily bulbs, red dates, and snow fungus to make her a nourishing soup. As for your father, let’s get him some liquor,” Nangong Shulan thought that the home-brewed liquor should be ready to drink by now and that they could also serve it to him. Drinking small amounts of wine regularly was beneficial for health, as long as it was done in moderation.
“Alright, whatever you decide is fine,” Qin Lei smiled at his wife.
“Okay, let’s go to the market then.” Nangong Shulan wanted to buy some meat to make dried meat for their youngest daughter to take with her, providing her with some nutrition.
She had watched Qin Xue make dried meat before, so she was familiar with the process. Despite not being as good as her eldest daughter, she would still make it for their youngest child to eat.
“Okay, buy whatever you want, and don’t worry about saving money,” Qin Lei wanted to reassure his wife that she needn’t be frugal.
“Don’t worry, I’ll definitely buy what we need,” Nangong Shulan responded, knowing that the final decision to buy or not rested with her.
Qin Lei knew that she was just appeasing him, so he decided to look for suitable items to buy for her. His heart ached at the thought of his beautiful wife having gone through so many hardships with him, to the point that it left her face with traces of worldly cares.
They went to the market and began shopping enthusiastically. Since opening their small food store, they rarely had time to go home and buy anything, so they needed to catch up on their purchases, especially when it came to making food for their youngest child.
The shopkeepers were overjoyed when the couple bought a lot of things quickly and with no fuss. They were the kind of customers that every seller loved.
As a small food store owner, Nangong Shulan frequently bought ingredients and knew the prices well. There was no need for haggling, so they were able to shop quickly.
