Reborn Queen’s Uprising - Chapter 46
Chapter 46: Trap
The two had just left in a storm of anger when Cheng Mu walked over domineeringly with his assistant, Ruan Jin, from the hotel lobby. “Xiaoxiao ah, what happened? Did a director come to get me to film a movie?”
Tang Xiaoxiao shrugged somewhat helplessly. “Yes, but… they were just two people who were overconfident. Just with this movie, there’s a high chance you can get the title of the Best Actor. Your career is rising day by day, so they naturally wanted to borrow your fame to stir attention to their movie, but I rejected them.”
Cheng Mu sat down opposite of her. “What kind of movie is it, tell me?”
“Do you know the duo partners famous for filming idol dramas in Taiwan, Director Liu Kang and Wang Zihe?” Tang Xiaoxiao sipped a mouthful of coffee elegantly as a faint ring of coffee foam appeared around her lips. Her small red tongue poked out to lick it all up, before she continued, “The movie is called ‘Stormy Winter City’. A director that films youth and idol dramas actually wanted to film a war-resistance movie. He’s Taiwanese and he’s touching such a sensitive topic… If you agreed to film it, wouldn’t you be ruining your own name?”
Having noticed the small details of Tang Xiaoxiao drinking her coffee, Cheng Mu froze unconsciously. All he seemed to see was Tang Xiaoxiao’s tongue that was poking out, as it faintly licked around her pinkish-red lips, giving her already-enticing lips a layer of moist radiance. Her little tongue seemed like a kitten’s tongue had licked at his heart. It was soft, yet made one feel ticklish…
“Ah Mu! Ah Mu! Cheng Mu!” Seeing Cheng Mu dazed out, Ruan Jin couldn’t help but call him.
“Er… Hm?” Cheng Mu finally regained his senses as he smiled awkwardly. “Xiaoxiao, if I didn’t know your age, I would have thought that you’re one of the top managers in the industry since you were actually able to see through this matter so thoroughly. Even if it’s me, I would at most think that Liu Kang, whose specialization is youth and idol-type movies, would be completely clueless and inexperienced as to how they would film the big and important scenes.”
Tang Xiaoxiao laughed heartily. “Well, who asked me to be your manager? Things like these can be thought through if you think about it properly. Oh, right, I have another meeting at about one-thirty in the afternoon. I think Shengshi Entertainment asked to negotiate with me. So? Do you, my boss, want to sit in and listen?”
Cheng Mu lost his smile. “Never mind. I won’t meet the people from Shengshi Entertainment. They probably sought you out because of Yang Shan’s matters. This is your private matter and has no relation to me, so I can’t interfere too much. However, I have some advice for you. Shengshi Entertainment’s background and influence… even the Chinese branches of several international entertainment moguls don’t dare to offend them. You have to take extreme care and precaution and don’t offend them too much. If not, you can only go overseas and the life there would be more bitter and painful than you can imagine. That’s why, don’t leave the Chinese industry unless there is no other choice.”
Tang Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow as she looked slightly interested. “Oh? Cheng Mu, it seems like you know quite a bit. What else do you know?”
Cheng Mu looked around him before he lowered his voice, “I’ve only heard of it, but I heard that Shengshi Entertainment has some background in both the mafia and the business world. I heard that the original Shengshi Entertainment didn’t have such a strong power, but a mafia young master forcefully took over this company with violence and kept the Shengshi Entertainment’s public relations department and some other areas. Also, they used beauty, money, power and many other means to bribe a large number of officials. They even have a protective umbrella in the capital…
“Do you know about the girl group that was at the top of the industry and was known all over Asia, Lady? They were the queen-like superstar-level group that started China entertainment’s idol age and even they ended up losing their lives in the hands of Shengshi Entertainment. What a pity that the legendary group just simply died in their hands like that. It’s such a shame.”
When she heard the girl group name, Lady, Tang Xiaoxiao’s expression was a little emotional as her eyes darkened slowly. Pulling Shengshi Entertainment down was a really huge responsibility in China.
“I wasn’t fortunate enough to meet the seniors from Lady, and that’s one of the greatest regrets in my life…” Cheng Mu said with slight emotions, “Back then, when I was still a normal person, they were already the top idols and were the people I looked up to the most. Who knew they would die so pitifully…”
“Yeah…” Tang Xiaoxiao’s eyes seemed to have turned red and misty as well. “The idol group that ruled the industry back then just died in that fire and all they left for everyone was a whole lot of pity… However, why isn’t anyone pulling Shengshi Entertainment down? Why isn’t anyone revenging for them?”
“Talk is always easy, isn’t it? Shengshi Entertainment is the industry’s largest mogul and already has relations with the mafia and the business industry… Even if someone had such a thought, they would only be a small bug trying to shock a tree.”
With that said, both of them fell silent in unison.
Shengshi Entertainment was like a heavy mountain, pressing on their hearts heavily. It was so heavy that it almost suppressed all of their breathing.
The place she had arranged to meet with Shengshi Entertainment was in a private room at this hotel’s restaurant. On the dot at 1.25pm, Tang Xiaoxiao appeared at the room’s door. As a qualified manager, being punctual was a good habit and courtesy that should always be respected, not to mention that she was meeting people from Shengshi Entertainment today.
When she stood before the room’s door, Tang Xiaoxiao suddenly opened her small leather bag and took out a small piece of paper and a pen. She wrote a number down and passed it to the waitress. She smiled elegantly, “Miss, there’s a number on this paper. If you hear any commotion or other weird noise after I enter the room, please call this number and tell the other that Tang Xiaoxiao asked him to come immediately.”
“This…” the waitress froze for a second.
Tang Xiaoxiao took out a thousand dollar bill from her bag then and pushed it into the waitress’ hands. “This is your payment. It’s fine if nothing happens, but if something did… when that person comes, I’ll give you another ten thousand dollars.”
Hearing this, the waitress instantly looked up and nodded desperately, “Yes, I will remember to do it!”
After setting up a lifeline for herself, Tang Xiaoxiao took a deep breath and nodded at the waitress.
“Miss Tang, please enter.” The waitress led Tang Xiaoxiao to the door with a smile and knocked at the door, before she went in and bowed at everyone inside. “Mr and Miss, Miss Tang has arrived.”
Hearing this, Zhao Zhigang, who had been intimate with Yang Shan in the room, instantly pushed Yang Shan away. He eyed the people around him and straightened his suit, before he laughed out loud and said, “Miss Tang, please come in. Knowing you by your repute is not as good as seeing you in person.”
Tang Xiaoxiao nodded at the waitress beside her, which was also signaling her to listen for commotion from the outside before she stepped into the private room with a clack of her high heels. She glanced at the people seated around the room.
There was Yang Shan, who could be ignored. The other was a middle-aged man dressed in a suit and had a huge rolling belly. He should be a small head from Shengshi Entertainment and as for the rest… it was obvious they simply served as decoration.
