- Chapter 14 - Regret it Yourself ~Be Happy with the Saint you Chose~ Chapter 14
“Lady Daisy has returned.”
The story soon reached me, someone in a different class from Lady Daisy.
As the rumor was already spreading around the school, I already knew that Lady Daisy had woken up a week ago. Despite how much I wanted to visit her, I was worried that she still hadn’t returned to full health. Thus, I found her sudden return to the academy exciting.
After the class ended, I rushed to the student council room.
Although, I was probably getting ahead of myself.
Considering she had just recovered, she probably wouldn’t be showing up in the student council room yet. Nevertheless, thinking about the possibility that I might encounter Lady Daisy there, my heart thumped with anticipation.
However, I stopped halfway there, discovering that a crowd had formed in the courtyard. In order to move from the classroom to the café and the main gate, there existed a corridor that’d lead to the courtyard. As there was a fountain and some benches there, people would usually pass their breaks there.
But for a crowd to form, how rare…
“What happened?”
I spotted a classmate and proceeded to ask her, but all I got was a sigh.
“It’s that passive-aggressive noble lady… She’s making a fuss to Lady Daisy.”
How unbelievable! Even though Lady Daisy only just recovered from an illness!
Seething with rage, I followed my friend’s line of sight and found both Lady Lula and Lady Daisy amidst the crowd.
“—Lady Daisy, I truly want to apologize to you! The actual reason why you were absent was because you were devastated, right!? It must be because His Highness Freddie chose me over you… I’m sorry, I’m sorry that a mere viscount’s daughter made you sick…”
“Lady Lula, as I said before, I didn’t think anything of it.”
When I saw Lady Daisy for the first time in two months, she looked as gorgeous as before. I found it hard to believe she was in a coma.
“You’re lying! You’re probably angry that I became a saint and His Highness Freddie’s lover! I, the mere daughter of a viscount!”
Contrary to Lady Lula’s triumphant words, Lady Daisy was unfazed.
“But why should I be angry because His Highness Freddie loves Lady Lula? Not to mention, I heard that Lady Lula came to visit the marquis’ house and offered her prayer as a saint. I’m truly grateful.”
For the first time, Lady Lula’s expression distorted upon hearing Lady Daisy’s words. Surely, everyone in the academy knew that her fervent praying did nothing to cure Lady Daisy.
“I-it has only been a short time since I gained my saintly power! Therefore, it may have taken some time for it to take effect! Y, you’re probably awake thanks to my power!”
However, Lady Lula instantly regained her composure. I marveled at her pompousness.
…As expected of the passive-aggressive noble lady.
“Yes, it is probably thanks to Lady Lula. Therefore, thank you very much. However, I also didn’t fail to notice that when you prayed to His Highness Freddie, you were on your knees and holding his hand. As such, your prayers must’ve reached him right away. From the report, you prayed to me while standing. Do you think that could have somehow delayed the effect of the prayer?”
Lady Daisy’s words created an uproar among the crowd of students.
“…Did her methods differ from person to person?”
“…I see, then when it was Lady Daisy’s turn, she probably did it half-heartedly.”
“I can’t believe she prayed for the daughter of a marquis while standing…”
At the reactions of those around her, Lady Lula blanched.
“Y-you’re mistaken! I did my best! You can ask His Highness Freddie about it! He even said so to Her Majesty the Queen! He will absolutely protect me!”
Towards Lady Lula, who desperately ascertained herself, the gazes of her surroundings remained cold.
“In my opinion, it’s only natural for His Highness Freddie to protect his fiancée, Lady Lula. Also, I hold nothing against you.”
Lady Daisy firmly spoke to Lady Lula.
Due to her dignified demeaner, even those who had been noisy were in awe.
“Lady Daisy! You were astounding!”
As I chased after Lady Daisy to the student council room, I excitedly told her my thoughts.
“Lady Becky, don’t you have anything else to say first?”
Lord Ryan, who stood beside Lady Daisy, was astonished by my high excitement.
“Oh, that’s right! I’m very sorry, Lady Daisy! Congratulations on your recovery! I’m relieved to see you are doing well. Are you feeling alright now?”
“Thank you, Lady Becky. I’m in a great shape. I heard from my maid that Lord Ryan and Lady Becky often came to visit me. Thank you very much!”
I couldn’t help but guffaw at her beautiful smile which hadn’t changed in the slightest.
“When I woke up, the bouquet of freesias caught my eyes! Thank you very much!”
Lady Daisy blushed as she said that to Lord Ryan.
That was my first time seeing Lady Daisy’s bashful side.
Upon seeing that, Lord Ryan also blushed profusely.
…This is so sweet.
I couldn’t help but grin when I saw the two of them.
“I apologize for troubling the two of you with the work of the student council while I was absent.”
Lady Daisy bowed her head apologetically. Lord Ryan aside, for her to bow to a low-ranking aristocrat like me, I panicked!
“It was no problem at all! As I said before, Lady Daisy, please depend on us more!”
“Lady Becky, thank you.”
Lady Daisy smiled like a flower in full-bloom, and I was very happy.
“Like Lady Becky said, I want Lady Daisy to rely on us more. Moreover, His Highness Freddie would give the stamp of approval once a week, so there was no problem. However, it seems that His Highness didn’t look at the contents of the document.”
“…He just stamped them and went home. Also, his scores seem to have dropped because he was busy with the student council’s work.”
Lord Ryan informed her of what had happened, while I unintentionally let my dissatisfaction escape. However, Lady Daisy merely smiled in embarrassment. In the past, she’d surely have defend Prince Freddie…
…Apparently, Lady Daisy had somehow gotten over Prince Freddie.
I was relieved that the Lady Daisy who’d cry over Prince Freddie’s heartless words was no longer there.
