- Chapter 6 - Regret it Yourself ~Be Happy with the Saint you Chose~ Chapter 6

“…There’s no way Lady Daisy would spread such a heartless rumor, yes?”
Due to Prince Freddie’s excessive remark, my mind had ceased thinking. In that moment, Ryan replied to him in a perplexed manner.
“Be silent, Ryan! I’m not talking to you!”
Ryan tried to interject, but I stopped him.
After all, even if he was a duke’s son, if he defied the first prince, he could end up in a bad position.
For the first time after a long while, I stared straight into his pair of blue eyes.
Then, I told him as calmly as possible.
“Your Highness Freddie, I have never spread any rumors about Lady Lula.”
Prince Freddie, who met my gaze, averted his eyes with slight embarrassment.
“…I understand. However, if anything were to happen to Lula, or if you were to harm Lula, I absolutely won’t forgive you!”
“…I’d never do such a thing.”
“This conversation is finished.”
Prince Freddie tried to leave the student council room.
“Your Highness Freddie.”
“…What is it?”
For me to involuntarily stop him… Even I was amazed.
…Despite that, he was my fiancé for five years. Thus, wishing for his happiness, I summoned up my courage to ask him a single question;
“…Will you ever regret being engaged with Lady Lula?”
I may not be able to do anything.
However, if Prince Freddie regretted it, it might be possible to change it…
After all, I had always supported Prince Freddie’s choices, even as of the present…
…The next moment, what fell on me were Prince Freddie’s unbelievable insults.
“—Cease it with your vile jealousy! I chose Lula over you! With the power of the saint, she saved me from the brink of death! Compared to her, what IS it that you can offer? This is my choice, and my decisions are never mistaken! As if I’d regret it! That’s just foolish! If you continue to insult my beloved Lula, prepare to be arrested for blasphemy!”
Those words were everything.
Those words, thrown at me by my fiancé, who I had devoted everything to for five whole years were all it took for me to want to disappear from his sight.
Apparently, everything I did for him in the past was meaningless simply because I wasn’t the saint.
Apparently, rather than all the effort I had put in for him, Prince Freddie much preferred a plain miracle, which Lula could offer.
…and to him, I was nothing but a powerless woman driven mad by jealousy.
“Forgive me. I’ll always believe in the judgment of Your Highness Freddie and support him. Therefore, I’ll also believe in your decision to be engaged to the saint, Lady Lula.”
I bowed.
“Well, of course. It doesn’t matter as long as Daisy vows to support my decisions. I’d also like to apologize for using the lèse-majesté law. Please continue to support me and Lula.”
With a satisfied voice, Prince Freddie left the student council room.
Even after he had left, I couldn’t raise my face for a while. Concerned, Ryan and Becky ran over to me. Upon seeing my tear-stained face, I was gently handed a handkerchief.

That night, my father came home late like usual.
No matter how late he might be, I waited for him every day so that we could eat dinner together.
“…Father, do you have any thoughts about my future?”
Since he rarely spoke to me at the dinner table, it was up to me to fill the silence by talking about what I had learned that day.
When I, who would usually keep talking despite his lack of respond, asked him a question, his knife paused.
“Your future?”
“Yes… Since it’s unlikely for me to find a new fiancé in this kingdom, I’m thinking of marrying abroad…”
My feelings, which took me tremendous courage to convey, were simply dismissed.
“That isn’t up to you to decide.”
“…”
“Just spend your days as usual without thinking about unnecessary things.”
“…B, but there’s a chance that I might become a concubine… of His Highness Freddie?”
“Well, that’s an honor, isn’t it?”
After saying that as if it were a matter of course, my father started slicing his food again as though the conversation had ended.
At that moment, my future felt bleak.
Apparently, it was only to be expected that I would devote my entire life to Prince Freddie.
Only that this time, it’d be for naught because Prince Freddie didn’t have a sliver of affection for me.
…Surely, in the future, I’ll have no choice but to suffer his hatred just like I did today.
Thus, after dinner, I quietly opened something that I had received from Prince Jake a while ago.
“But if you wish to escape from him, then…”
