- Chapter 7 - Regret it Yourself ~Be Happy with the Saint you Chose~ Chapter 7

“Well, isn’t that an honor?”
When I heard the lord of the house utter those words, anger rose within me, anger which I desperately suppressed.
As if becoming the concubine of His Highness Freddie could be considered an honor…
I started working at that mansion when Lady Daisy was only 7-years-old.
From the first time I met her, Lady Daisy had always been a perfect noble lady.
The servants who had served Lady Daisy for a long time told me that her mother passed away when she was only 5-years-old. During that time, while desperately holding back tears, she told the servants, “I want to be of help to the marquis family!”
…However, since the day of madam’s funeral, she had never shed any tears.
Perhaps taking Lady Daisy’s strong act for granted, the lord treated her rather coldly.
Not only did he never compliment Lady Daisy, he also one-sidedly approved of her engagement to Prince Freddie. Even when it was annulled, he merely notified her as it was.
On the other hand, without relying on the lord, Lady Daisy solved things that no ordinary lady would have been able to. As a result, the lord and even us—the servants, relied on her.
After all, if it was Lady Daisy, then there would be no problem.
Or so we thought.
In reality, despite being a marquis’ daughter, she was still a 15-year-old girl. Moreover, the man she had adored broke off their engagement under the pretext of having found his true love. Then to top it off, her own father told her to humor the idea of becoming a concubine.
I, who had always been by Lady Daisy’s side, was aware of her inner vulnerability. I could see through her perfect lady façade—along with the sorrow and pain she hid within. Regardless, on the surface, Lady Daisy neither complained nor shed any tears.
It was only in the next morning, when Lady Daisy wouldn’t wake up, did I realize that things weren’t alright.
“…Isn’t she just oversleeping to brood?”
After the butler had informed him that Lady Daisy wouldn’t wake up, the lord merely said those words and nonchalantly left.
…However, the young lady I knew never overslept.
In the first place, the young lady didn’t need to wake up as early as she did, but she always made an effort to have breakfast with the lord. At night, she also stayed up late just to have dinner with him. Hence, us servants had always been worried about her sleeping habits, but Lady Daisy only laughed and said, “Well, I also need time to study.”
“The young lady has fallen into a coma of unknown cause.”
The doctor merely gave a dubious diagnosis.
The lord, who learned of the situation by express mail from the butler, came home at the usual time. However, as soon as he got home, he paid the lady’s room a visit. Not once had he ever done such a thing since I started working there.
“Daisy, you have to wake up. You have to fulfil your obligation and become the concubine of the first prince, His Highness Freddie.”
That was the first thing he said.
Unbelievable.
As if the young lady would wake up with those words!
In the first place, she ended up in this situation because of Prince Freddie’s change of heart and the lord’s heartless attitude.
…And yet, the lord was still forcing the young lady, who was in shamble, to become the first prince’s concubine.
Feeling sorry for the young lady, I instinctively tried to raise a protest. Yet before I could do so, the lord had already left the room while passing some instructions to the butler.
“Get a different doctor tomorrow. If that doctor also doesn’t know the cause, then get another one. Keep making arrangements until Daisy wakes up.”
After that, various doctors came from all over the country almost every day, but Lady Daisy never woke up.
Thus, without the cause being known, a month had passed.
Over the past month, the lord hadn’t visited Lady Daisy’s room even once.
While a lot of flowers and gifts had been sent to the young lady, the only people who visited were the son of the duke, Ryan, and the daughter of the count, Becky. It went without saying that I was grateful towards them.
“At last, the saint will come to offer you her prayer tomorrow, Lady Daisy. As she was capable of healing Prince Freddie from Tiarz disease, surely, she’ll be able to heal Milady, too…”
I spoke to the unresponsive young lady as usual.
By that point, the engagement between Lady Daisy and Prince Freddie had been annulled. As for the saint, she hadn’t used her power since she healed Prince Freddie. Nevertheless, she insisted to help some reason, saying that it was for young lady’s sake.
As a mere servant, I didn’t understand how the saint using her power would benefit the young lady in anyway. Regardless, the fact remained that she’d be using her holy power. That alone became a beacon of hope for us servants who wished for nothing more than the young lady’s recovery.
“—May Lady Daisy wake up.”
When I first saw the saint, my impression was that she was a lovable person.
I was annoyed by the fact that Prince Freddie came with her. Still, the saint stood by our lady’s bedside and offered her prayers, and that alone was enough for me.
…However, no matter how much the saint prayed, the young lady never woke up.
***T/N: Hahaha, fake saint alert.
