- Chapter 8 - Regret it Yourself ~Be Happy with the Saint you Chose~ Chapter 8
By Antoinette Vanessa October 27, 2022
“…Lady Daisy fell into a coma for unknown reasons.”
About a week after Lady Daisy’s absence, that story spread throughout the academy.
From the day Prince Freddie came into the student council room and threw those ruthless words at her, I was already concerned about Lady Daisy. When I finally found out about her predicament, I became even more so, to the point that I couldn’t sit still.
“Lord Ryan! Are the rumors about Lady Daisy true!?”
As soon as my classes ended, I rushed into the student council room and asked Ryan to which he quietly nodded.
“I was concerned when I learned that the Marquis Astor household was being visited by doctors with various specialties on a daily basis. Yesterday, Marquis Astor reported Lady Daisy’s condition to the royal family.”
“No way…”
…So, Lady Daisy is indeed in coma.
“…Is it because she heard rumors about Lady Lula? Was she in shock after His Highness Freddie was robbed from her?”
“I don’t think so. Lady Daisy is not that weak.”
“…But—”
“…If this is her own intention, then there’s no problem.” Ryan spoke with a thoughtful expression.
I didn’t know what he meant.
Why would Lady Daisy decide to fall into a coma? Not only that, can someone go into a coma just like that?
“Is there anything I can do?”
At that party, Lula said that she had always admired Daisy. Of course, that was nothing more than a shallow statement.
I was the one who had always admired Lady Daisy.
When I first beheld her appearance, I was blown away by the fact that such a beautiful person existed in the world.
Be it her gestures or manners, they were perfect. In fact, they were even more beautiful than the teacher’s examples.
Despite only being able to visit the student council room briefly and having to undergo the queen’s education afterwards, she had a massive amount of work to do.
In the past, I had left some unfinished business in the student council room and had decided to finish it early the next morning. Yet arriving there the day after, Lady Daisy was already working.
“Lady Daisy, what are you doing so early in the morning?”
“Oh, Lady Becky, there is some unfinished work from yesterday, so I secretly did it.”
“Oh, no… You should’ve said something! Besides, that was meant to be my work! Lady Daisy, please rely on us more!”
“Thank you… No one has ever told me that before… I’m happy, very happy…”
Lady Daisy thanked me, and proceeded to show me the most beautiful smile ever.
As I was reminiscing about Lady Daisy, Ryan’s suggestion brought me back to my senses.
“Shall we visit her under the pretext of being from the student council?”
Immediately afterward, Lord Ryan made an arrangement with the Astor family, and we went to visit Lady Daisy three days later.
Upon seeing that Lord Ryan had brought a bouquet of freesia, the maid of Marquis Astor’s eyes narrowed with joy.
“Why, if it isn’t Lady Daisy’s favorite flower!”
After escorting me and Lord Ryan to Lady Daisy’s bedroom, the servants subsequently dismissed themselves.
…It was as if Lady Daisy was merely asleep.
Even with her eyes closed, she was so beautiful, I couldn’t believe more than a week had passed.
After talking to Lady Daisy alternately with Lord Ryan, I asked him.
“How did you know Lady Daisy’s favorite flower?”
Lord Ryan, who was gazing at Daisy in concern, answered me without averting his gaze.
“She mentioned it in passing.”
“…But she was always so busy, right? Did she ever talk about her favorite flower?”
“In between student council duties, she happened to talk about her favorite things once. Freesia, roasted chicken, cloudy skies… I remember all of them.”
Lord Ryan had cherished those trivial words like treasure.
Lady Daisy, please wake up, a bright future is waiting for you…
After that, we visited Lady Daisy several times. Of course, Lord Ryan never forgot to bring a bouquet of freesia.
…Nevertheless, Lady Daisy didn’t wake up.
“…And she calls herself a saint?” I muttered to myself.
Thus, rumors began to spread.
‘—Even though Lady Lula, the saint, prayed for her, Lady Daisy didn’t wake up.’
‘—Apparently, His Majesty the King set her up to it.’
However, before Lord Ryan could respond, the door to the student council room was violently opened.
“Ryan! What is the meaning of this!? Why is the student council’s work behind schedule!?”
…Well, about time.
If it wasn’t obvious, we weren’t surprised by Prince Freddie’s sudden visit.
By the way, Prince Freddie was a bit thinner than a month ago, and his complexion didn’t look good either.
It may come off as disrespectful, but I always had a bad feeling about Prince Freddie.
Using the prince’s education as an excuse, he had always neglected his duties as the student council president. At the same time, all of the student council’s achievements would be reported to the royal palace and the academy as his.
In the first place, if Prince Freddie couldn’t participate in the student council because he was too busy with the prince’s education, then what about Lady Daisy? Despite being busy with queen’s education, she still fulfilled her obligations.
Not only that, Prince Freddie seemed to take it for granted that Lady Daisy would work in the student council every day in his stead.
…As if I’d respect a person who pushes all his duties to his fiancée and takes credit for it.
“Well, we aren’t exactly behind. However, it’s been difficult without Lady Daisy. Lady Becky and I have been trying our best to fill the gaps. The only matters that remain unfinished are those that require the student council president’s approval.”
Ryan answered with a blank expression.
“But until now, everything went on without a hitch!”
“Until now, Lady Daisy—Your Highness’ fiancée, had been filling in for you. The academy has given her the authority to make such decisions. By the way, more than a week ago, I had reported to the academy that we’re behind because you’ve been missing work.”
Prince Freddie was taken aback.
No… no way, he doesn’t know?
After all, the one who decided to hand the authority to his fiancée because he was supposedly busy with prince’s education was none other than Prince Freddie himself.
When Prince Freddie was engaged to Lady Daisy, his reputation soared.
From the point of view of the students who didn’t know the inner workings, Prince Freddie had always fulfilled his duty as both the student council president and the prince. Not only that, he had a gentle demeanor, was all-smiles, and had a handsome face akin to a fairytale prince. Because of that, they never doubted him,
By the way, Lord Ryan and Lady Daisy were always competing for first place in exams, while Prince Freddie always hovered around tenth place…
However, after getting engaged to Lula, Prince Freddie’s reputation had suffered.
As his plating peeled off little by little, everyone gradually started to see him for who he was…
