At night.
Shi Su was tidying the bed in Shi Mianmian’s room next door. Although the bed was not big, it was still enough to fit them both, since her daughter was still small.
However, her daughter’s bathroom was incredibly small, and only had a mini toilet and a mini bathtub without a showerhead.
She would have to shower in the master bedroom’s bathroom.
Shi Su went out with her pajamas and saw her daughter sitting on the sofa watching cartoons, having washed up already.
She had been busy cleaning the room today and had not hugged her daughter since the latter returned from kindergarten. Putting her pajamas aside, she brought the little girl into her embrace, tickling her for a long time until Shi Mianmian burst out laughing. She rubbed her head again before getting up and knocking on the door of the master bedroom.
She only knocked on the door out of politeness. This was her own home, after all, so she entered after knocking twice.
Jing Jihan had gotten out of bed to pour a glass of water for himself. When Shi Su came in, she saw the man standing in the room in a dark gray men’s pajamas. “I just went to the supermarket and casually bought a set of pajamas for you, but they fit you well.”
This man was obviously near 1.9 meters tall, so regardless of his appearance or figure, no clothes would look ugly on him.
His skin was a healthy Asian color among men, just a little whiter, making him look extra clean and fresh. His eyebrows were incredibly beautiful, and his thin lips were slightly pale because of his serious injury, but that did not diminish his overall handsome appearance.
Jing Jihan casually picked up the glass, took a sip of water quietly, put down the glass nonchalantly, and asked lightly, “What’s the matter?”
She pointed to the bathroom. “I want to take a shower.”
The man seemed to think he had misheard and slightly raised an eyebrow.
She explained, “You haven’t left this room ever since your injury, so you might not know how small my house is. I’ve always lived by myself, after all, so I only have one bathroom. While you were in a coma over the past few days, I didn’t pay much attention to it, but now that you’re awake, do you mind going out to the living room when I’m taking a shower?”
Without saying anything, Jing Jihan nodded faintly. Although his pace was quite slow due to his injury, he still walked out according to her wishes.
Shi Su turned around and saw that he had not forgotten to help her close the door.
Not bad. The man was showcasing a modest and sincere attitude now that he was living under her roof. He could be considered a gentleman, neither noisy nor disturbing. He even ate the white porridge that she had made for him. His behavior and attitude were pleasant and likable.
This allowed Shi Su to calm down her heart about taking him in. She stopped wasting time and went straight into the bathroom.
The living room was indeed small as Shi Su said. Just standing there was enough to see the end of the house, the child’s room, and the kitchen. The house spanned only about sixty or seventy square meters, but every place was clean and filled with small knick-knacks, revealing the woman’s cleanliness and warmth.
Jing Jihan saw the TV mounted on the living room’s wall playing a cartoon show. Enduring all kinds of pain in his body, he slowly walked over and saw that Mianmian had curled up into a ball. The girl had fallen asleep.
He watched the cartoon on TV. A pink piglet happily called its parents. At this time, he caught sight of a thin blanket beside him and reached out to cover the girl gently with it.
Seeing the remote control, he picked it up and switched to the news channel.
He had nothing to communicate with the outside world right now and had no plans of doing so for the time being. He could only browse the Internet or watch TV if he wanted to learn about the current situation of Yujing Corporation and his family.
With the status of the company, Jiang City News and all financial channels were bound to broadcast news about his accident over the past few days, so it was not difficult to find relevant information.
“Today is the fifth day since Mr. Jing Jihan, the president of Yujing Corporation, has gone missing after falling off the cliff. The city has dispatched rescue teams from all departments for search and rescue. Three days ago, the crash site was found four hundred meters below the cliff. After inspection, it was confirmed that the vehicle belonged to the president. The crash site is a forested area… but Mr. Jing has yet to be found, and there’s a turbulent river at the incident location…”
“Yujing is one of Asia’s largest diversified shareholder corporations, ranking first among the four major consortia. Its headquarters is in Jiang City, with overseas branches in Washington and London, and it is now the leading domestic business giant…”
“Jing Jihan’s disappearance will soon set off a storm in the Chinese business community. His family has been anxiously awaiting further news and has been unable to sleep for several days. They’re eagerly anticipating Mr. Jing’s safe return…”
Since the media outlets could not enter the Jing family’s residence to conduct an interview without permission, and because the security system was too perfect, they could only take shots of the villa from a distance. The shots flashed past, then the reporter continued making guesses about his mysterious disappearance.
The man listened to these people’s speculations about his life and death with an impassive face. When he saw the media interviewing representatives of Yujing Corporation’s board of directors, who cried with worry before the camera, and smirked sarcastically. His smirk held no warmth at all.
“Mianmian! Shi Mianmian —”
Suddenly, Shi Su’s voice sounded from the room. Jing Jihan glanced at the already sleeping girl on the sofa. He walked back into the bedroom and opened the door only after ensuring that it was alright to do so.
The woman’s voice from the bathroom became clearer. “Daughter, help me bring over the pajamas on the sofa. I put them there and forgot to bring them in!”
Jing Jihan glanced at the white pajamas on the sofa and listened to the urging of the woman inside the bathroom. Seeing Shi Mianmian sleeping soundly, he walked back, picked up the pajamas, and returned to the bedroom.
