Reporting, I Have Been Reborn - Chapter 48
Chapter 48: Circumstance
The few soldiers following behind them had seen the entire scene of the two of them holding hands from start to end. They were all glaring to the point where it looked like their eyeballs almost came out.
“This MF captain and miracle doctor Su definitely have something going on between them!”
“Is this really the pace of people who had just met?”
“They are already holding hands. Could it be that we are about to eat celebratory sweets?”
“Hehe! I dare bet that captain’s feelings are about to bloom into love!”
The soldiers were murmuring behind them. They would even laugh while covering their mouth from time to time. However, they had forgotten one thing, against the wind, sound travels farther.
Wei Zhen Hui’s strict iceberg-like expression relaxed a little.
Su Mian’s hearing surpassed others and did not miss a single word they were saying.
Although she had lived for 50 years in her previous life, her face still reddened until her ears when she heard the soldiers clamoring like this.
Su Mian wanted to pull back her hands but after trying twice, she could not move it at all.
Wei Zhen Hui knew that Su Mian was shy. He had never coaxed someone before, but his cold voice still came out, “Don’t listen to those brats talking nonsense. The mountain road is hard to walk on. If I let go, you might fall down and die.”
Having heard what was said, Su Mian looked down the side of the mountain and was scared to the point that her knees shook. What was beside her was a bottomless mountain stream. It wasn’t the same as the slope back at home.
“See,” Wei Zhen Hui pointed behind, “The mountain road is narrow and slippery. They are also working in pairs and holding each other while advancing.”
Su Mian took a look back and noticed that the soldiers formed two rows while pulling on a wooden stick in between.
So it was like that, these people are too mean.
Su Mian stuck out her tongue and quickened her pace to follow Wei Zhen Hui. Now, it was not that awkward anymore.
“Who did you learn Chinese medicine from?” Wei Zhen Hui suddenly asked. He already had his suspicions before this. The Su family was a generation of farmers, even the Apricot Village did not have any doctors after so many years.
Su Mian did not hide anything from him but now was not the time. In the future, she would tell him everything when she had the chance but now was not good.
“I am preparing to take an exam at the Imperial Medical School, so I borrowed some medical books from the library,” What Su Mian said was also the truth, but she did not say anything about the timeline. If she were to tell Wei Zhen Hui that she had only been reading medical books for a month and could already diagnose and treat people, then it would not be strange for him to treat her as a monster.
Wei Zhen Hui’s attention had indeed shifted, “You want to enter the Imperial Medical School? Are you preparing to become an Interstellar Military Doctor?”
“Yeah,” Su Mian strongly nodded her head as her expression remained resolute.
She wanted to fight alongside him, wanted to stand at the place closest to him, wanted to see his high-spirited appearance, wanted to be beside him in his time of utmost need.
Wei Zhen Hui stood still and stroked her head, “Girl, good luck,” Who knew why, but ripples suddenly appeared at the long-time quiet lake in his heart when he heard that she wanted to become an Interstellar Military Doctor.
In front of her was the person she had been thinking of every night. The palm on her hand transmitted a soft warmth. When she heard him call her ‘girl’, hey eyes almost reddened.
She was very regretful. In her previous life, she should not have doubted his feelings for her. She should not have married Jiang Yi in an act of fit. She should not have let her temper push him farther and farther away.
“Wei Zhen Hui, I will definitely do so!” Su Mian’s round eyes turned into two crescents, showing off a beautiful glistening smile towards him.
Wei Zhen Hui!
Wei Zhen Hui!
Wei Zhen Hui!
In Wei Zhen Hui’s memory, he felt as if someone had called him in the same way before.
He only felt an acute pain come from his heart. It was so painful that he clutched at his heart.
Wei Zhen Hui turned his back against her, causing the piercing north wind to blow away tears in his eye.
“Why aren’t you walking?” Su Mian pulled on his hand and already exceeded two steps in front of him. She stood in front of him and looked down from above.
