Reporting, I Have Been Reborn - Chapter 54
Chapter 54: Captain Wei
The jeep moved for more than 4 hours before reaching the eastern end of Apricot Village. The roads inside the village were dirt roads which were narrow. It was still fine for donkey carts to pass through, but the jeep could not enter at all.
Luckily, Su Mian’s house was at the end of the village. When the second team leader stopped the jeep, Wei Zhen Hui nimbly jumped down the passenger seat and walked to the back.
Su Jin Long knew that he was going to carry Su Mian, so he tried to make the first move, “Let me carry her. I am quite strong.”
Wei Zhen Hui had already opened the door. He stooped down, got in the jeep, and carried Su Mian out, “You should lead the way.”
Su Jin Long wanted to say something else, but the second team leader restrained him, “Boy, don’t forget what the vice-captain said.”
Su Jin Long was dumbfounded. Before they left the encampment, Vice-captain Wu Feng had talked with him. As long as he helped their captain find a wife, then Wu Feng would note this as a great service after he joined the Interstellar Army.
How could he help Wei Zhen Hui find a wife? He wasn’t even his parent.
On the way, Su Jin Long scratched his head as he thought about the marriageable women in the village. As he thought about it, his cousin Su Hong was the most fitting.
When the jeep was 500 meters away from Su Mian’s home, Su jin Long broke into a run towards home while shouting, “Dad, mom, sister and I have returned. Sister and I have returned!”
It was currently a few minutes past noon. Many people were currently going for a walk after lunch.
Su Jin Long’s shouts had been heard by a few streets behind and in front.
This brat!
His shout had caused the entire village to hear about this. Su Mian closed her eyes in embarrassment and only opened them slightly to see the situation. She noticed that Wei Zhen Hui had sneaked a glance at her before quickly moving his line of sight.
“Oh! What happened to Su Mian. She’s even being carried back home!” Xiao Gao looked from afar and saw a uniformed man come over while carrying a person. She did not dare believe it until she got close. Although Su Mian had saved their house’s Lao Wu, there was nothing wrong with gossiping a bit. It was not like she was doing anything wrong.
“It really is Su Mian. Tsk, tsk. It’s broad daylight and she does not know how to refrain from doing this. In the future, how was she going to marry?” Another young married woman clicked her tongue and even spat out saliva and stepped on it.
“I heard that Su Mian had not been home for a few days now. I heard that some uniformed men came to bring her to see patients. How could she herself had gotten sick?”
“They say it’s to see patients, but who knows what really happened?”
The words after those were much worse. Wei Zhen Hui decided to turn a deaf ear and continued to carry Su Mian while advancing.
The second team leader had followed behind and secretly praised their captain for being quite patient. Other people had been spouting such vulgar words. If it were him, he might have just shamelessly thrown Su Mian onto the ground.
At this time, a lot of people had gathered to watch for fun.
However, under the pressure of Wei Zhen Hui’s stern manner, they only looked from afar.
Su Mian had lived for a long time in her previous life. She knew that where there were people, there would be trouble. Tomorrow, people might even say the same thing about them! She struggled, wishing to walk on her own, but she was tightly hugged by Wei Zhen Hui.
He Qin and Su Jiang Hai had been worried for two days and did not know where to enquire about them, nor did they know people in the army. When they heard Su Jin Long’s voice, they both came out.
Seeing her parents, Su Mian’s face reddened as she turned her head away. She did not know how to meet them while she was being carried around by someone else.
Wei Zhen Hui let out a low chuckle, carried her into the house, and placed her on the heatable brick bed.
Seeing Su Mian being carried by someone, He Qin’s heart sunk. She was worried that Su Mian had gotten sick. When she saw the thick bandage wrapped around her ankle, her eyes reddened, “Little Mian, what happened?”
“Mom, it’s nothing. It should be better in a few days,” Su Mian was afraid that He Qin would be worried and did not tell her that she had been bitten by a wolf.
Su Jiang Hai had a brief impression of Wei Zhen Hui. Wei Zhen Hui had left when he was 18 years old. Although his appearance had not changed, it took Su Jiang Hai a while to recognize him and coldly said, “Captain Wei.”
