Chapter 50: First Exploration of the Mysterious Realm
While he walked into the cave, Li Huailin was surprised by the size of the area. When Li Huailin walked deeper into it, the space had somehow become even larger. This led him to believe that he had come to another place through the tunnel.
Even though he was still surrounded by the color red, the space was relatively dark, only a few magma pools were slightly lighting up the place. Li Huailin looked up to the ceiling and couldn’t see the top as this place was too dark. Some Fire Elemental Guards were wandering beside the magma pools. They looked slightly different from the elementals Li Huailin saw earlier outside. Although they were still clusters of fire in human shape floating in the air, they were wearing suits of red armor now, this made them look more advanced.
Li Huailin looked at them and saw their stats.
Fire Elemental Guard: Level 20, HP: 1400, Physical Attack 90, Magic Attack 100, Physical Defense 60, Magic Defense 90. Skills: Fireball, Elemental Body.
Fireball: Fire Damage 75-100. Cast Time: 2 seconds.
Elemental Body: Suffers 75% less Fire Damage and 75% extra Ice Damage.
Li Huailin was surprised that he could even see their skills. This was something that happened for the first time. Li Huailin guessed that this was just to remind the players that they should use ice spells instead of fire spells while attacking these elementals, it was very considerate of the game to do this. Although the Fire Elemental Guards neither had high physical defense nor lots of health points, their damage output was too high for most players to handle.
However, he chose to give them a try. Li Huailin randomly picked a Fire Elemental Guard that was wandering alone. Because it was 5 levels higher than Li Huailin, it easily noticed Li Huailin from a distance away and instantly started casting the Fireball Spell.
Since casting the spell would take at least 2 seconds and Li Huailin could move very fast, before the fireball was completed, he managed to reach the Fire Elemental Guard first.
-511
His attack wasn’t a critical hit and the damage wasn’t that high. Since Li Huailin was now Level 15, his normal attack had reached over 600. When compared to the damage that Li Huailin could do to the mobs in the Abyss Mode dungeon, the damage he did here to this elemental was basically the same. In other words, this place was just like an Abyss Mode dungeon.
When Li Huailin was caught by this brief moment of hesitation, the Fire Elemental Guard opened its arms and a fireball directly hit Li Huailin’s face.
“Pa!”
The fireball exploded, however, these were just visual effects. Even though Li Huailin was struck by the magic spell, he didn’t feel the heat at all.
-141, +8
Two numbers appeared on Li Huailin’s screen and he was really surprised by the amount of damage. This was definitely the highest number he had ever seen from a mob. The damage that the Mage from the World Destruction guild did to him was only below 100. The positive 8, had actually come from the burning effect. Li Huailin checked his status bar and, and as expected, he saw a new buff appear.
Burning: Regenerates 8 Health Points per second, continues for 10 seconds.
With this buff, Li Huailin believed that he could still challenge this Fire Elemental Guard. Due to him not having any items or spells that could properly recover his health points, Li Huailin had to wait for a while in order to naturally recover. Because he had never added any points to his Constitution, despite the fact that all of his attributes had been increased by 280%, his recovery speed was still rather slow.
Fortunately, Li Huailin’s attack was high enough. Just like a Mage, when the mob was under attack, its spellcasting would be forced to stop. Before the second fireball could even be summoned, Li Huailin had already launched a slash again and brought down the Fire Elemental Guard.
“Golkin will punish you!” The Fire Elemental Guard shouted before its body turned into a red light spot and dispersed in the air. Its tarnished armor fell to the ground.
“This mob has a line?”
Li Huailin was very surprised since most mobs wouldn’t say anything when they were killed by players. He wondered if killing this mob was part of some plot.
After he checked his Battle Records, he found that he had simply lost 55 Experience Points. He was okay with this amount because he had just earned over a few thousand experience points from the Brotherhood of World Destruction. What mattered the most to him right now was still the land title.
Li Huailin bent down to search the body and found 17 Bronze Coins and a small, red bead.
The Heart of Fire: For Forging, Leatherworking, Tailoring, Engineering, and Alchemy.
Li Huailin found that this object was totally useless to him. He was expecting a piece of equipment or something. At the very least, he could sell it for some money… Wait, how much could he sell this red bead for?
Li Huailin wondered if the materials from this Mysterious Realm were worth some money. Unfortunately, he didn’t really know the market all that well. Fortunately, he knew a lady who was very good at Economics.
“Why are you calling?” After picking up the long distance call, Red Dust Misty Rain’s voice sounded quite annoyed.
“Do You know the Heart of Fire? Is it valuable?” Li Huailin asked.
“The Heart of Fire?” Red Dust Misty Rain tone became more serious. “That isn’t something rare, you can get this from Fire Elementals. However, some forging and tailoring recipes require this item, which is why the market needs a lot of them. How many do you have? If you have more than 100, you can get 5 Silver Coins.”
“Sh*t…!” Li Huailin almost wanted to throw the Heart of Fire away. He thought this was something rare, but it could actually be found anywhere on the street! It wasn’t even worth a bottle of health potion.
“By the way, how are things going with the World Destruction guild? Red Moon made me ask you this. And why are you fighting Fire Elementals? Are you in the Lava Crack right now?” Red Dust Misty Rain asked him a series of questions.
“Er… Well…” Li Huailin scratched his head. “Things seem to have gone a little different from what my plans. Those people from the World Destruction guild are very cunning. It’s not easy to make them agree with me.”
“Of course, the Lava Crack is a very profitable location. If our guild monopolized the area, we also wouldn’t let other people take it easily.” Red Dust Misty Rain had already expected this. “What are you doing right now? Little Water just got up and is now dressing up. I guess she’ll be looking for you again when she goes online.”
“Come on! Nobody can tell whether she dresses up or not in this game.” Li Huailin didn’t understand why.
“Well, we like it. It’s none of your business,” Red Dust Misty Rain blurted out.
“You’re also wearing makeup?” Li Huailin really didn’t understand women.
“I… Why do you even care? I’m ending this call now,” Red Dust Misty Rain quickly said.
“Wait! Something unexpected happened earlier and I’m now in a Mysterious Realm,” Li Huailin hurriedly spoke, “I just ran into an NPC telling me that some rare treasures can be found here. Do you think I can find a land title around?”
“A Mysterious Realm?” Red Dust Misty Rain was a bit surprised. “I’ve heard of something like this, but I’ve never had the chance to be in one. Have you found anything rare so far?”
“Not really. I just killed the first mob here and got the Heart of Fire. I thought it was a precious item…” Li Huailin started complaining.
“Red Moon is asking you where the Mysterious Realm is. Do you need our help?” Red Dust Misty Rain asked him.
It seemed that Red Moon was with Red Dust Misty Rain right now.
“The Mysterious Realm is in the Lava Crack, you ladies can’t come in.” Li Huailin didn’t lie to them. After all, they wouldn’t be able to swim across the magma without the suit. “I’ll keep looking for a while. If I can’t find anything, I’ll just let a mob kill me in order to get out.”
“Watch out for treasure chests! I heard that there’s an even bigger chance to find treasure chests in Mysterious Realms than in Abyss Mode dungeons.” That was all Red Dust Misty Rain knew. There was very limited information about Mysterious Realms.
“Understood, don’t let your younger cousin know where I am,” Li Huailin reminded her.
Red Dust Misty Rain giggled. “I got it.”
