Chapter 36: Xiaoqian, Trump Card!
Chen Lin was not happy that Xiaoqian said that it was all hers.
“You are the older sister, shouldn’t you act like one? Save some for your brother!”
‘The father of my daughter bought these for me, why do I have to share them?’ Xiaoqian grunted.
“Do you want Dalong to use this pink-colored blanket?”
“Just ask your mother to make a blue cover. It’s time to change your brother’s blanket. And the snacks, send some for him in school. It’s tiring to study so much, he needs some to energize…grab some for him.”
Xiaoqian looked away. Yu Minglang was so practical. He bought different kinds of nuts for her as snacks and you could keep them for a long time. It looked like there were a few catties, it must be expensive.
Chen Lin was so ‘generous’ that he wanted her to grab some from these few catties.
“I will not give him any. If he needs it, I need it too. If he needs to change the blanket, I need to change the blanket too!”
Chen Lin was speechless. He spoke calmly, “Why are you comparing yourself with your brother, can you behave more like an elder sister?”
“Even if I’m the younger sister, you would still save the good things for him. Let me tell you, these are all mine. I will burn it if anyone touches it!”
Yu Minglang bought all these for her. Why would she share it with her hedonistic brother!
“Xiaoqian’s father, stop arguing. The engagement was cancelled, she must feel bad. Save these pink color necessities for Xiaoqian. They can share the snacks, ok?”
“No! It is all mine!” Silly Yu bought these, no one else can have it!
Chen Lin got mad and pointed at Xiaoqian, “You useless girl! You didn’t get into the university, and your engagement was cancelled. You have the ability to hold on to things, I give you that.”
Xiaoqian smiled and took the red admission notice.
“Who said that I didn’t get admitted to the university?”
Chen Ling saw that, f*ck!
He was dumbstruck.
Jia Xiufang grabbed it to have a look. “This is the admission notice…Qian’er, are you bewitched? You counterfeit this when you didn’t get the admission notice?”
“Why is there no stamp?”
“Ah! Where did this come from?” Jia Xiufang was over the moon.
“I saw one of the teachers today. She said that I shouldn’t have failed. She checked for me. It turns out they were mistaken, I got admitted.”
Seeing that Chen Lin was confused, Xiaoqian was happy.
“Why didn’t they send this admission notice earlier?” Jia Xiufang was flipping it back and forth to make sure that it was authentic. She forgot about the cancelled engagement.
“Another teacher helped me to get this admission notice, this teacher is better than my teacher in charge. The teacher in charge knew nothing when I asked her questions.” Xiaoqian was smiling while looking at Chen Lin.
“Tell me again, who wasn’t admitted to university? I believe you have seen this admission notice. Nine eight five, prestigious university. They have the best psychology program in the country. The result was six hundred and sixty eight points. Does this make you proud?”
No one could believe it when the teacher said that Xiaoqian failed.
However, Chen Lin said that this girl applied to prestigious universities and she wrote that she would not take any other subjects other than psychology. It was normal to be disqualified. Under normal circumstances, they usually retake another year. Afterall she was a top student. However, Chen Lin was stingy and he wanted her to get married.
Many relatives used Xiaoqian as an example. They said there was no point in letting the girls study so hard and they could not get into the university anyway…
Now, the red colored admission notice was right in front of them. Jia Xiufang was so excited, she was all fired up. She wanted to pull Xiaoqian and parade in the neighborhood. Who dared to say that my daughter was useless. Open your eyes and read this, how many points did she get!
Chen Lin could not care about Jia Xiufang who went crazy. He walked past Xiaoqian and went upstairs.
He could not understand how the daughter got the well hidden admission notice.
“Xiaoqian’s father, where are you going? It is such good news that Qian’er got into the university, why aren’t you happy about this?”
Jia Xiufang was unhappy for a few days and now she was elated.
Xiaoqian knew that not only was Chen Lin unhappy, he was also getting mad.
She held Jia Xiufang’s held and asked happily,
“Mom, I’m going to university. I could use all these, shouldn’t I take all of them?”
“Yes, of course. All yours!”
“What about Dalong?”
“Don’t worry about him, his teacher in-charge just called. He said he had enrolled for the tuition class, but he skipped class. We spent so much money on the summer tuition class and he actually skipped class!”
Jia Xiufang waved her hand. So many unhappy things happened recently. There was finally something worth celebrating.
The menopausal aunty started to pick up the phone and call all the relatives to tell them about it.
“Aunty, let me tell you something, our Qian’er was accepted into the university! The best university in the province. I was thinking about having dinner to celebrate the admission. Our brother Chen was so happy that his son got into the college. He was so cocky, I must have a bigger party…marriage? What marriage? She is still so young. Education is more important. Furthermore the guy has Hepatitis B…”
Jia Xiufang’s voice could bring down the house.
Xiaoqian knew that when her mother was in the mood, she could stay on the phone for the whole morning calling each and every cousin. Then announce it to the neighbors around. Being admitted to a prestigious university was something that could make her happy for a few days.
However, the man upstairs must be angry now.
Xiaoqian was flipping through the things that Yu Minglang sent her and thought that Chen Lin must be so angry now.
He opened the soapbox where he hid the admission notice. There was a piece of paper inside that said,
‘I won’t be angered by others, if I ruined my body by putting it in anger mode there was no one to replace me. Hiring a doctor to have a look, he said it is difficult to treat an angered body. Calm down[1]!’
He was FURIOUS!!!
This girl!
Chen Lin teared up the paper and was angry at himself for not tearing up the admission notice back then.
He kept the admission notice to have a chance to brag to his friends in the future that he had a smart daughter.
He never thought that this daughter would make him so angry.
The daughter was crafty. She used this method against him because she knew that he would not be able to tell the truth.
The crazy women downstairs must have called every relative under the sun by now. If he did not pay for her tuition, the relatives would spit on him. He would never again be able to walk with his head high.
Now, he did not have money and he had emptied the bank account. What should he do now…
