Chapter 30: Verification
No man could resist bursting out in fury upon hearing such a provocative piece of information. Although Ye Yang had tried to put it in an implicit way, no matter how subtle it was, the blow it dealt towards Tian Huayu was enormous.
No man could ever tolerate the fact that he was being cheated on. And the worst part was, he had been raising that child as if it was his own.
Although Tian Huayu’s rage had long reached a boiling point, having so many years of experience in the corporate world paid off, as he managed to retain his composure. His expression became chillingly dark but Tian Huayu was still calm on the surface.
All of a sudden, he made a call. No doubt, it was to his wife.
“Hello, Honey?” The voice on the other end sounded gentle as usual. Hearing how gentle his wife’s voice sounded made him doubt Ye Yang’s words.
Something like this came as a great humiliation for Tian Huayu. If it wasn’t for his fateful meeting with Ye Yang today, it was hard to imagine how he would have died in the hands of his wife. His life would undoubtedly have been lived in vain if that were to happen.
What made this all worse was that after he was dead, his wife would use the money he painstakingly earned to raise somebody else’s son.
Tian Huayu was currently seething with anger but he maintained a gentle tone to sound just like usual when he asked, “Where are you now? A friend is treating me to a dinner tonight, do you want to come over and join us?”
Having been frivolous for so many years, Tian Huayu’s tone was filled with deep affection and tenderness, despite the fact that he had already murdered his wife countless times in his imagination ever since becoming aware of the truth moments ago.
“I’m at home.” The woman’s reply was just as tender. “I’m feeling a little under the weather today, why don’t you go ahead and enjoy yourself, Honey.”
Had it been before, Tian Huayu would believe in what she said completely, but now, he wouldn’t believe a single word of hers even if it killed him.
After knowing where his woman was, Tian Huayu let out a sigh in relief. They chatted a bit on trivial matters concerning their child before hanging up. After the call ended, Tian Huayu’s expression slowly turned ice-cold, clearly doubtful of Ye Yang.
Ye Yang handed Tian Huayu a serviette and the on which the name of a hotel was scribbled. “If you go there right now, you might be able to catch a glimpse of that person.”
It was evident that Ye Yang knew what he was talking about.
Without holding back, Tian Huayu took the serviette, glanced at it, before chuckling to himself. “Thanks for today, Brother Ye.”
For a man to be caught in such a situation was indeed, humiliating. Under regular circumstances, Tian Huayu would have made sure that Ye Yang’s lips remained sealed. However, Tian Huayu never mentioned so much as a word about it, never mind directing hostility at him.
In fact, Tian Huayu understood that Ye Yang had shown him quite a bit of respect since they were supposedly at odds with each other.
Ye Yang could have notified the press or made it seem like an accident by having the media expose this adulterous marriage. If that were to happen, Tian Huayu would become the biggest laughing stock in his social circle, even though many of them weren’t themselves innocent either.
It was quite a strange phenomenon. Those who are down in the dumps would be laughed at by those who weren’t decent themselves. ‘Pot calling the kettle black’ was what perfectly described this.
However, Ye Yang did no such thing. Instead, he revealed the truth to Tian Huanyu. “I have some trouble at home so I’ll be leaving to take care of it. Mr. Ye, please enjoy yourself.”
As Tian Huayu left, he was slouched over, as if he was depressed as he walked. He looked up at the sky and sighed quietly. Right now, he still had the upper hand. He held the authority to control where things go from here, and he was no longer heading down the path of embarrassment.
Though, some people might already be laughing at him.
This was, after all, Tian Huayu’s family matter. Ye Yang merely gave him some simple words of advice. He knew well enough that he shouldn’t be doing anything that would cause Tian Huayu to dislike him for now.
After Tian Huayu left with a dark expression, Ye Yang turned to leave as well.
Meanwhile, as Huang Ruobing was struggling under her endless pile of work, she was suddenly informed that one of her opponents had finally retreated from the battleground.
Such behavior confused Huang Ruobing, and soon, her deduction arrived at Ye Yang who had gone to search for Tian Huayu.
Although Tian Huayu was no decent figure, his Huayu Group had grown into a prominent entity in the corporate world as of late. Huang Ruobing had expected that it would take quite some effort to face the attacks by Huayu Group on her and her company.
Feeling skeptical, Huang Ruobing called Ye Yang.
Ye Yang wasn’t surprised when he saw Huang Ruobing calling. At this point, he was quite literally able to read her like an open book. “Are you calling me because you’ve received some good news?”
There was a hint of carefreeness in his tone as Ye Yang spoke, proving that he already knew what was going on.
“Huayu Group has requested a ceasefire,” Huang Ruobing replied, sounding confused.
“How could it possibly fail when I’m the one behind the wheel?” Ye Yang was acting extremely nonchalant about this.
Although this change in situation was not enough to throw her off, Huang Ruobing was still pretty curious. “How did you do it?”
From the moment they met, Ye Yang had been creating miracles one after another. Never once had he failed and from this, it proved how capable he was.
Upon hearing her question, Ye Yang was briefly silent before saying, “Getting this pleasant outcome was good enough. As for how I did it, is it that important?”
While this whole incident ended on a positive note for Huang Ruobing, it would be difficult for her not to feel her dignity chip away should she become aware of what Ye Yang did. Moreover, it wasn’t like Ye Yang could just tell her the truth, for fear of tainting her ears.
