Chapter 38: Ending
Due to that incident, Qian Yurou was no longer willing to stay at the wedding. Still, she forced herself to be there a little longer before hurrying away with Ye Yang.
Clearly, she had no idea how things came to this point.
As Phoenix Villa was in a secluded area, there was truly no better place where Ye Yang could talk to Qian Yurou in private. However, now that Phoenix Villa was in his grasp, Ye Yang didn’t have to be too mindful of their surroundings.
Qian Yurou stared at Ye Yang for the longest time before finally opening her mouth to say, “I’m sorry.”
She did indeed look apologetic as she continued, “I’ve been rash. You’re a good person, and if I’ve hurt you because of what I said, I’m sorry.”
Yet, Ye Yang didn’t see anything wrong with her behavior. Qian Yurou was a beautiful girl, and being attractive meant that she would have to constantly be cautious of sexual harassment. Hence, Qian Yurou’s response was considered reasonable for Ye Yang.
“Today is the first time we’ve met, it’s only natural for you to be paranoid of me.” Ye Yang was merely stating the truth. However, it seemed that he had said too much that he was beginning to sound biased.
Seeing as Ye Yang didn’t take it to heart, Qian Yurou heaved a quiet sigh of relief. After all, it was she who had been impolite and she still required Ye Yang’s assistance as well.
“You’ve indeed been a little rash. For something like this, you have to consider whether or not it’s a trap. Our country’s law-enforcement is strict and it’s been so many years since a robbery like this had happened in broad daylight. No matter how I look at it, something’s off.”
Ye Yang was trying his best to persuade her. While Huang Ruobing had a steadfast personality, in contrast to her, Qian Yurou was much more impulsive.
Upon hearing this, Qian Yurou nodded. She was aware of this as well. Previously, when a couple of goons tried to rob a bank, they were apprehended by the police in less than thirty minutes and became a laughing stock online.
Qian Yurou felt upset. Indeed, she had been too reckless this time.
“Their plan is basically divided into two parts. The first part was to rob the gold store when there aren’t many people around. Usually, moments after the store opens is the most dangerous time.”
Ye Yang was explaining the scheme to Qian Yurou bit by bit. It was obvious that he knew the scheme well. “Once they’ve secured the gold bars, they would take them to the outskirts and dispose of the stolen goods. Meanwhile, the others would stay near the store, and if you went ahead to check on the store, they would assassinate you there.”
By now, Qian Yurou had completely calmed down and her gaze darkened. While her aura wasn’t as intimidating as Huang Ruobing, it still gave off a hair-raising feeling. It was evident that Qian Yurou had now regained her composure as a mighty powerful heiress.
Ye Yang watched Qian Yurou with admiration in his eyes. But the young woman still lacked practical experience.
“I can tell you the location of their base. Call the police to have them search for the perpetrators.” With his rational mind, Ye Yang knew that if he were to interfere too much, no good would come of it.
While Qian Yurou was surprised, she did as she was told. After that phone call with Huang Ruobing, she now had complete faith in Ye Yang.
Seeing how trusting Qian Yurou was of him, Ye Yang chuckled. “Aren’t you afraid that I’m lying to you?”
“There’s nothing in it for you even if you lie to me.” As Qian Yurou casually replied to him, she pondered. Although that was rather out of topic, Qian Yurou couldn’t care less.
Considering how wealthy the Qian family was, they should be able to shrug off today’s losses effortlessly, but it was still quite embarrassing to have their shop robbed by a group of thugs.
“But how do you know about all this?” This wasn’t Qian Yurou’s current concern. Knowing where she was on the pecking order, she realized how odd it was for someone to be targeting her. What’s more, in their society, where law and order reigned supreme, an assassination sounded like something that was ripped out of a novel.
However, the mastermind had decided to use such an extreme measure, something that was illegal as well.
Everything had boundaries. The country would never tolerate such acts and Qian Yurou didn’t think that she was that charming to prompt the mastermind to carry out such acts.
Ye Yang began feeling helpless. Qian Yurou was getting increasingly curious and her gaze was in no way conceding when compared to Huang Ruobing’s gaze when she first saw Ye Yang. “Both of you are really alike.”
Qian Yurou was stunned, clearly not expecting Ye Yang to say this. “Maybe it’s because after people have spent a long time with each other, they start picking up each others’ quirks.”
Ye Yang smiled and said nothing else. They were aware of what should be said, and what should not. Hence, Ye Yang refrained from making further comments.
Phoenix Villa was very spacious. As Qian Yurou leisurely enjoyed her tea, the gorgeous scenery gradually improved the foul mood she had had due to the incident earlier.
That evening, she received pleasant news that the police had apprehended the perpetrators while they were trying to divide the stolen goods. This was all thanks to the clues Ye Yang had provided. With this, the case was considered closed.
To the Qian family, while they still suffered some losses, it wasn’t as huge as before.
A loss of this scale was considered light to the Qian family. Qian Yurou was feeling much better, but it seemed like she hadn’t given up on one thing. “You still haven’t told me how you knew all of this.”
Ye Yang chuckled before answering, “A man’s intuition if you will.”
Qian Yurou knew that Ye Yang’s answer was perfunctory, but it meant that he was still reluctant to disclose anything to her. Hence, she stopped pressing the question.
