Seven World Martial God - Chapter 55
Chapter 55: Stuck in his Teeth
Astonishing people was good and all, but if he revealed too much of his talent, Ye Tian was afraid that his superiors would take too much notice and he seriously couldn’t be bothered to deal with excessive envy from the other Scarlet Guards.
So, Ye Tian had never planned on showing his true power or ever using his Saber Intent. He knew his own strength and that none of the other recruits were his equal, and that understanding was good enough.
Hong! Hong! Hong!
The young girl’s palm strikes grew more and more fierce, her red sleeves fluttering in the air. The strength of her attacks was setting off a stir in the other recruits, but Ye Tian clearly understood that this was the little girl’s last burst of strength.
And if Ye Tian could see it, of course the five Commanders on the platform could tell as well.
The female Commander shook her head as she chuckled. “That Hong Wu girl is going to lose.”
“Haha, losing will be good for her; otherwise, she’ll truly grow too proud and arrogant.” Zhao Dapeng laughed as he replied.
“There are talents beyond talents and heavens beyond heavens. When she understands this, her future will be limitless,” Uncle Duan solemnly replied.
While his fellow Commanders spoke, the young man remained fixated on Ye Tian and Hong Wu’s duel.
Zhao Dapeng glanced at the young man and chuckled. “So, Xue Yun, will either of them threaten you?”
The other three Commanders turned at this comment, all of them smiling.
The young man had an extraordinary status, his name capable of shaking all of Blood Jade City.
In the eyes of Blood Jade City’s people, Xue Yun was perfect.
The young man’s father was the Blood Jade City Lord, and as the first in line for succession, he had been scrutinized since his birth.
And Xue Yun didn’t dissapoint, advancing to Level Seven Martial Master at the age of thirty. He was the youngest Level Seven Martial Master in the entire city area and also the youngest Commander in Scarlet Guard history.
So, the people of the city called him the Number One Expert in the Younger Generation.
With both his talent and his status, Xue Yun was incredibly famous.
“Perhaps there will be some pressure!” Xue Yun smiled wryly as he replied.
Although Ye Tian and Hong Wu had talent, they were still just children in his eyes, completely unable to threaten his title.
And ultimately the Martial Dao wasn’t a smooth road; geniuses were often snuffed out in their youth.
In the end, only those who lived would truly become powerhouses.
“Hong Wu is out!” Niu Yunshan smiled.
The Commanders turned back to the arena.
Ye Tian’s duel with the young girl had finally come to its end. As the fight had raged on, the young girl’s attacks had weakened while Ye Tian’s strength had only grown, and she was eventually knocked out of the circle with a final palm strike.
“Liu Hong Wu… Sixth Place!” Li Tian called out loudly as he recorded the young girl’s position.
“Liu Hongwu!” Ye Tian repeated to himself, memorizing the name. Clearly the young girl had an extraordinary status, so while he hadn’t actually injured her at all, he still needed to approach the firebrand with caution.
“Number six!!!”
Liu Hongwu was glaring in wide-eyed disbelief, her teeth gritted in anger and reluctance, her stare burning holes through Ye Tian’s back.
She had lost and to a youth only a year older than her! Liu Hongwu couldn’t accept this! No one her age had ever won against her!
“Ye Tian, this young lady will remember you!” Liu Hongwu cried out firmly, her pretty eyes filled with determination.
Ye Tian paid her no mind. With her knocked out, there were only five people remaining. With five Centurion positions, there was no longer any need to fight.
Li Tian announced the competition was over and began granting the Centurion and Squad Leader tokens.
“Good child, I didn’t misjudge. Cultivate diligently and break through to Martial Master as soon as possible.”
Li Tian waited until the final token to approach Ye Tian, handing him his new status and patting him encouragingly as he spoke.
“Thank you, Honored Li.” Ye Tian bowed lightly.
“Honored? Just call me Uncle Li. If there’s anything you don’t understand, just come find me.” Li Tian laughed, sincere and earnest in his words.
Ye Tian paused then nodded, smiling. “Thank you Uncle Li!’
Blood Jade City was still a strange and foreign place and Ye Tian had really only interacted with Li Tian before. If Li Tian wanted to drag him into his camp, Ye Tian wouldn’t refuse. After all, their familiarity would help him in many ways.
“Good. Haha, go pick your subordinates. These recruits will be under your command and your future brothers, so pick wisely. You definitely cannot be careless.” Li Tian chuckled happily, whispering quiet advice to Ye Tian.
Ye Tian nodded as he fell into thought, grasping his token as he walked back to the main crowd of recruits.
The fifty Squad Leaders would first pick out the members of their squads then the five Centurions would each pick ten Squad Leaders.
While the five hundred or so people were noisily arranging themselves, Ye Tian stood slightly to the side and just watched. Most of the recruits gravitated to the powerful Squad Leaders while the weak officers were largely ignored and forced to pick from the leftovers.
While the Squads sorted themselves out, Ye Tian and the other Centurions got to know each other.
“This one is Wu Qinghu, greetings to my brothers,” Wu Qinghu began, laughing brightly. He currently held the most influence in their camp of recruits since everyone believed his Half-Step Martial Master cultivation was the strongest.
“Bai Shui. Greetings to my brothers!” A young man with pretty white skin introduced himself, a well-dressed Level Ten Martial Artist probably from one of Blood Jade City’s wealthy families.
“Huang Fei. Gentlemen, we’re now brothers, haha!” A large and earnest man cheerfully laughed, his aura putting him somewhere between Bai Shui and Wu Qinghu.
The four Centurions turned to examine Ye Tian, the mysterious sixteen year old genius in their midst.
“Ye Tian. In the future, I will have to trouble my elder uncles to give me pointers,” Ye Tian said, smiling faintly.
“Elder uncles?”
The three men didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, dazed by the new appellation. They weren’t actually that old, but compared to Ye Tian, they really could be elder uncles.
“Brat… just call us big brothers!” Wu Qinghu laughed, shaking his head as Bai Shui and Huang Fei quickly agreed.
Ye Tian smiled politely, nodding. “Then this child greets his big brothers.”
“Ha ha!”
The three laughed cheerfully.
“Don’t forget the young lady here,” the sole female Centurion teased.
The woman was quite pretty, probably somewhere in her late twenties or early thirties, considered at the peak of her youth on Shen Zhou Continent. Her beauty immediately enchanted Wu Qinghu and the others.
Only Ye Tian remained calm, smiling faintly as he turned to the female Centurion.
“This little sister is Yun Feifei. Greetings big brothers, and hello Little Brother Ye Tian! Hehe!” The female Centurion chuckled, shooting a teasing glance at Ye Tian.
“Haha, then we’ve all been introduced. Let us work together so that we can quickly become real Scarlet Guards.” Wu Qinghu laughed happily.
Ye Tian smiled and chuckled while they spoke. He felt as if he had traveled back in time to his time on Earth when he met his comrades for the first time.
As the Centurions mingled, the Squad Leaders quickly finished sorting themselves out and the fifty squads lined up in front of Ye Tian and the others.
Ye Tian immediately noticed the red-robed girl Liu Hongwu standing right in front of him, glaring at him with her big eyes as she gritted her teeth.
“Hehe, little brother, you’re in trouble. The girl has targeted you, so you need to be careful.” Yun Feifei quietly laughed at him.
Apparently this big sister really enjoyed teasing Ye Tian, prodding him until he had no comeback.
“Sister Yun, do you know her background?” Ye Tian asked instead, truly curious.
“How could I not? She’s the precious daughter of the Scarlet Guard’s General. No one in the Scarlet Guard dares to displease her!” Yun Feifei chuckled, cheerfully amused by Ye Tian’s suffering.
Ye Tian rolled his eyes in helpless dismay, a headache forming as he turned back to look at Liu Hongwu.
The General of the Scarlet Guard was second only to the City Lord, an incredibly influential figure in all of Blood Jade City.
Soon, the fifty Squad Leaders had chosen their Centurions and if the Centurions agreed, they would form their first company.
As the most powerful, Wu Qinghu was the first choice.
Ye Tian was quite strong, but most of the Squad Leaders felt that he was too young and had no interest in following the orders of a child.
Only three Squad Leaders picked him.
Moreover, Ye Tian could tell that these three Squad Leaders had chosen him with ulterior motives, not even hiding their disdain for him. Clearly they thought that with a child as their Centurion, they would have more freedom in the future.
And of course, among those three Squad Leaders was the girl, Liu Hongwu.
Ye Tian could neither laugh nor cry. This girl was truly a pest, sticking to him and refusing to let him go. Ye Tian could already tell he was in for a lot of trouble.
“Brat. Just wait—one day, I’ll definitely beat you.” Liu Hongwu gritted her teeth, still glaring. She had chosen Ye Tian so she could challenge him to duels more easily.
Wu Qinghu, Huang Fei, and Bai Shui could only send him sympathetic looks.
Ye Tian rolled his eyes again, his face dark. Though he had tried his best to avoid it, trouble had come to him.
