She’s Not Our Daughter! - Chapter 55-2

Chapter 55 – There Was An Uproar, In The House Of Ideos
Meanwhile, Sierra, who was feeling refreshed after slightly playing with Ijiel, slowly headed to the Duke Ideos’ mansion. She hummed at the thought of the magic tool she gave Ijiel.
‘Once he seemed to be interested in me, it would be enough to get information through the magic tool,’
Ijiel had no idea, but the effect of the truth potion was divided into the short-term and long-term effects. The short-term effects of it are for him to confess everything she wants him to say. And the long-term effects that Ijiel still had no idea about is that it would make him feel guilty whenever he tries to tell lies.
‘The truth potion, that was very good to that guy, that one.’
A grinning Sierra looked over the window of the carriage. She could see the Duke Ideos’ mansion out of the window.
Feeling the carriage slow down and staring leisurely outside the window, Sierra was surprised to see the dark energy surrounding the Duke Ideos’ mansion.
“What is that?”
When she got closer, she realized that it wasn’t a black mist but knights in black armor. As if deploying their forces, the knights were densely packed while surrounding the Duke’s mansion.
‘No… what’s with this atmosphere?’
Sierra carefully got off the carriage in front of Duke Ideos’ mansion, where the surrounding was deadly quiet. She didn’t take it seriously until the gatekeeper took her to the main hall of the mansion with a pale face. But… as she entered the main hall of the first floor of the house, she met the Godmother who called her name as if she was screaming.
“Miss!”
She had walked around the first floor so many times that her face looked pale. In addition, the center of the hall was filled with heavily armed knights along with the Godmother. Looking at her familiar face, she must have been a knight from the Duke who was closely monitoring and escorting her. Sierra was startled when her Godmother patted her, and opened her mouth as if she was very upset.
“You’ve even been kidnapped….”
“Yes? Kidnapped?”
“Whatever it was! You were reported missing to the Imperial Palace and were looking for you.”
Sierra gaped her mouth. Her Godmother hugged Sierra tightly as she patted her on her shoulder to make sure her body was fine.
“You must have been scared without having a single knight with you.”
“I mean, I was only gone for about three hours….”
“You were missing for three hours!”
Her Godmother who was hugging Sierra tightly and was patting her, gently released her and glared at the knights coldly.
“You will all pay the price for this – even the knights and the Imperial Palace who weren’t able to protect you!”
Veins were popping on her neck. She was really venting her rage.
Sierra looked towards the Head Lady-in-waiting looking at her with an expression asking her to calm down the Godmother. Fortunately, perhaps noticing how she felt, the Head Lady-in-waiting spoke carefully.
“How about putting a petition in the Imperial Palace?”
… The Head Lady-in-waiting seems to be slow-witted.
“This isn’t something that will end just by simply filing a petition in the Imperial Palace!”
… Moreover, Godmother is getting a bit more out of the way.
‘This got really serious.’
It wasn’t just that. When the Godmother called her daughter-in-law, Andante was just standing by and shouted to the knights.
“How dare you disregard House of Ideos’ daughter-in-law!”
… But I’m not your daughter-in-law.
But this wasn’t the right time for her to say that in this situation. Since she earned a lot from that kidnapping, she had to deal with the aftermath. Sierra sighed inwardly and exhaled.
‘I’ll have to take care of this quickly. Because I deliberately left them out.’
Sierra, Godmother, and Andante were gathered at the center of the hall, while the knights who were supposedly escorting her were boring their heads in a circle, which was quite strange.
“It’s all because of me!”
Sierra fell on her stomach and sobbed. It was the same fake cries that she deceived Ijiel with. Of course, as Sierra began to shed tears, the air around became colder too.
“Drag all these people in charge and let them face their death penalty.”
… I knew this would happen!
Sierra hastily opened her mouth to turn the situation around.
“No! In fact, I… I was the one who left them. I used potion. I’m sorry!”
“You… used potion?”
“Yes!”
“Wh, why did you do that?”
“I just… wanted freedom.”
The word ‘freedom’ made the Godmother frozen.
Andante murmured, pondering about it, “F, freedom….”
“… But even so after three hours, I m, missed the Duke’s mansion as well as Godmother and Marchioness Andante.”
At those words, their expressions softened again.
‘This is simple.’
Her knees were slowly getting numb and wanted to get up. She carefully opened her mouth.
“So, can you just let them off the hook?”
‘… Still, it would be great if they could all avoid punishment by kneeling once.’
It was unavoidable. Indeed, Sierra didn’t want the knights to be punished for her kidnapping. As a commoner herself, she knew what kind of punishments the knight received and what commoners were treated as. They shouldn’t be disciplined only because of her.
“if they suffer because of my own mischievousness… how would they feel?”
Sierra’s tears dropped and appealed to them about her feelings. The atmosphere suddenly became chilly. In that situation where neither Godmother nor Andante could rush to her, there was the sharp sound of the shoes.
“What’s going on?”
A voice sounding like frozen ice. The only man invisible in the hall, Cassius, was coming down the stairs. Cassius headed straight to Sierra, and asked her while raising her body from her kneeling on the cold floor.
“What’s going on, Sierra?”
With a sweet voice different from before, Sierra said in a low voice, “I was very curious about the outside, so I left the knights for a while, but I was afraid that they would have to be punished because of me….”
“That was what you were concerned about?”
Cassius’ tenderness made the knights around them even more stiff than when they were in despair about receiving the disciplinary punishment. The ladies-in-waiting were adjusted to this side of him, but the knights weren’t
