Chapter 41 – Part 2
With more seriousness, I told him.
“So what if the King of Spirits is rude to a human?”
“Do you think that way?”
“Of course. I would have put all humans under my feet if I were the King of Spirits.”
[ …And this is maybe why Lord L’Aquila only made you a Saint. ]
I was just saying it as a joke, but Ignis took it too seriously. Meanwhile, Frey stared into my eyes before slowly nodded his head with his usual friendly smile.
“I understand, but it still can’t.”
“What?”
“It’s enough that Lisandro is rude to noona. Do you want to add one more who’s rude to you?”
Lisandro is my brother, so it doesn’t matter if he was rude, though…
Nonetheless, Frey wasn’t that wrong so I didn’t bother to tackle it with him. As he said, it was enough that Lisandro was rude to me. After all, who wanted to feel good when someone else was rude to you…?
“It’s because noona, you are a precious person who deserves to be treated [ with respect ] more than anyone else.”
Each of his words contained affection… that he valued me, from his actions to every words he says.
“That’s why I can’t stand to see things like that.”
Although he had a smile on his face, he looked like the lazy king of the beasts looking for prey. Like a warning to Ignis, he nodded slowly without saying anything. He looked more like a puppy eager to be loved by his master than the King of Spirits.
It was said that when a spirit has imprinted on its master, it would give them everything regardless if they received affection or not. Looking at Ignis, it seemed like it knows what it means. Even though a mere human spat out words of warning on the subject of borrowing their power, Ignis accepted his words as if it was only natural.
Perhaps because Frey was so attractive that he was a person Ignis wanted to reach, maybe, not only humans are bewitched by handsome appearances, but also spirits.
It was definitely very possible.
“Ju, just now, the Saint… heup!”
“Shut up.”
Abel sternly warned as he covered Patrick’s mouth again and he met Frey’s eyes.
The moment he met that pair of pupils with unknown depth, he felt like he was being sucked into that endless abyss. It seemed that their future was already clearly drawn as soon as they got close to the Saint.
Abel shuddered as he recalled the golden eyes paired with the silent murderous intent.
“If you hadn’t only interrupted, Patrick!”
“Still, do you really think that angels would want to kidnap a human being?”
“Are you doubting the angel again?”
Patrick shut his mouth again. He really couldn’t resist not speaking at all.
“I… never doubt the angels.”
“Then, shut up your mouth and only do what you are told to.”
Abel gritted his teeth and glanced around. There was clearly no one around and they didn’t even see that someone was coming after them, but it turned out to be none other than Frey.
Never let your guard down.
“…He may have been connected to the King of Spirits. I saw Frey Eckhart.”
“Wh, what?!”
“Please! Shut that mouth…!”
Abel growled annoyingly, silencing that voice.
Only then did Patrick notice and gently shut his mouth. If Abel saw him, then it wasn’t a lie. Frey Eckhart was one of the people they should be the wariest about, including the younger brother who was always beside the Saint.
If Lisandro rose to his position as the youngest sword master and became an object of fear for his strong swordsmanship, then Frey was currently the most powerful person in the continent who signed a contract with the King of Spirits.
The Fire Spirit King was said to be the strongest in terms of attacking power, a person who shouldn’t be underestimated. So, if they lowered their guard even for a moment, they might fall to the ground by the scythe of death.
There was no way that he [ Frey ] didn’t see how Patrick marveled at the Saint.
“…D*mn it. Why on earth are you that surprised to see the Saint?”
Abel cursed in a low voice, biting his lips in annoyance. Paula gave them a second mission to retrieve a new body after their first mission failed. This time, without Francis.
Patrick grumbled and opened his mouth.
“Would I rather not have looked surprised?”
He then peered around and whispered in a low voice that only Abel could hear.
“Why is the Saint, who was said to go to recuperate, here? I’ve definitely checked everything, though.”
The ordeal the Saint was given by the angel wasn’t over yet. One, after announcing that she was going to recuperate, she went to a villa far away and didn’t come out. So, for the time being, they kept an eye on her and tried to get the body Paula had ordered them to.
That was what should happen.
“I guess she was just doing it without giving much thought, but it seems like it wasn’t the case.”
She even raised the faith of people with a single forgiveness.
‘…Maybe that was also deliberate.’
He thought that she was a slacking Saint by how she hid behind Duke Rohelio and her younger brother, but it didn’t seem that way now.
“We should report that the Saint had appeared here first. Why did she suddenly show up here?”
“That’s right. This is a place that’s difficult to find to say that it was only a coincidence. We also…”
“Enough.”
He covered Patrick’s mouth and closed his mouth.
Even though they spoke as quietly as possible so that no one would hear them, it was true that they were anxious. Considering that the Fire Spirit King was after them, they needed to run away from it. Otherwise, it would be like directing it to their hideout.
They needed a way—a way to get rid of it.
They couldn’t feel any of its presence though it would be impossible for that man not to have sent something after them. They were sure that they were at a certain distance so that they wouldn’t be noticed.
The good Saint would wanted to catch the kidnapper, and Frey Eckhart was likely to help.
Abel thought silently as she went in the opposite direction from their hideout. Then, he glanced back at Patrick.
“Did you bring the bead?”
“I brought one, but can we use it?”
“We are given this to use in situations like this.”
Rummaging through his bosom, Patrick quietly pulled out a bead. Abel snatched it away from him.
“What about the body?”
“There is no need to reveal our existence. We just have to find someone else.”
After saying that, he put strength on the bead, and at the same time, they disappeared from the spot without a trace.
