Sigrid - Chapter 21
Chapter 21: Misunderstanding
“Why?”
“Huh?”
“Why did you change your mind?”
“Rowen Green.” Hearing what Rowen Green said made Marisuez a bit dumbfounded. Weren’t they supposed to pretend to not know Sigrid was ill?
Sigrid looked at Rowen green and nodded her head.
“Rowen Green’s question is understandable. For a long time, I’ve always held on to the thought that a knight should act according to knightley principles. I mean, I still think that is the way we should do it. However, after some thought, because of that, I ignored the things I wanted to do. Because, I think, if I don’t act according to those principles, it is a bad thing. And in those thoughts, it came to me a question ‘why is it bad?’. I asked myself ‘why’, and I could not answer my own question. I don’t know why it’s bad.”
“Hmm.” Rowen Green looked Sigrid interested.
Sigrid sighed, and continued, “So I thought about it and concluded that ‘there is nothing bad’. So I apologize for my previous remarks.”
“Interesting.” Rowen Green smiled.
“So, you followed the standardized conventional wisdom, but now after you thought about it, you’re saying that the conventional wisdom is not correct? Well, it’s funny that you’ve just realized that the form of Knight in your head is pretty biased.”
Marisuez once again came to think of Sigrid as a really strange person. So because she was going to die soon, she had a lot of thoughts which then changed her mind, then she spent her money and went wild. So she thought if she were not to change her mind, she would die while living as it was.
“It’s really.. Sigird is Sigrid”
“I’ll cooperate.”
“Huh?” At Rowen Green’s words, Sigrid was a bit confused and tilted her head.
“I mean having fun. I’m not interested in simply playing, but I think it’s fun to have people change their thoughts.”
“I sometimes think the way Rowen Green sees life is too complicated.” Marisuez grumbled as she put sugar into her tea.
Rowen Green laughed, “Maybe.”
“All you have to do is enjoy your life, right? So what do you enjoy doing, Sigrid?”
“Sword training….”
Marisuez’s forehead wrinkled hearing Sigrid’s answer. “Reject. Something else.”
“Something else….”
Sigrid was not sure if there was something else she enjoyed. While groaning, Sigrid said, “uhmm.. Buying clothes is complicated and difficult, but wearing pretty clothes is fun. That and also having freshly cooked food, and cleaning up…”
“What kind of life have you been living?” Marisuez muttered in shock.
Rowen Green tilted her head, and asked, “What about in District 3? I heard that the security is not that good?”
“Well.. when they knew that I was a knight, no one try to attack me. The size of the house is.. How could I explain it? Hmm.. Just the size of that little carpet over there.”
“Are you living in a closet?”
Sigrid laughed at Marisuez’s murmur.
“Well, now that I think about it, it is really just that size.”
“I think I may have claustrophobia.”
“It’s not that bad. There are windows. But yeah, the security is not good. There are also a lot of things happening at night. Still, it’s a normal place for people to live.”
After saying that, Sigrid unconsciously grabbed the skirt above her thigh. It was a normal place for people to live, yet it was her who set the fire. At that time, in her mind, what her master said was absolute. If her master said it was a bug, it was a bug, not a human, but a pest. And she herself led that cruel operation, that burnt-down operation.
Seeing Sigrid who suddenly turned palace, Marisuez was perplexed.
“Sigrid? Are you okay?”
Marisuez looked at her and a bit panicked ‘is she having a seizure?’
Hearing Marisuez’s concerned voice, Sigrid shook her head with difficulty.
“Yes, I’m fine….”
“You don’t look okay at all. Bring some cold water over here.”
At Marisuez’s words, the maid quickly brought a cup of water.
Sigrid took the glass and slowly drank the water. Her body trembled. Could her evil deeds she committed by orders be forgiven? She never thought what she did was a bad thing. Until today, at this moment.
‘It’s okay. Calm down, take it easy. It hasn’t happened yet. No one is dead. it ‘s okay Sigrid. Sigrid Ankertna.’
Her trembling hands slowly calmed down and then she raised her head.
“I’m sorry. Suddenly my body did not feel good. I suddenly got a chill.”
Marisuez and Rowen Green secretly exchanged glances.
“If you are not feeling well, would you like to rest for a while in the break room?”
“Right. You could take off your corset and rest.”
“No, thank you. I’m fine now.” Sigrid shook his head.
Subsequently, the three of them had a normal conversation. Mostly, It was only Marisuez and Rowen green that were talking, and Sigrid was the one to listen. In particular, Sigrid was mesmerized by the story of clothes and accessories that Marisuez talked about.
From the next day, Marisuez and Rowen Green dragged Sigrid around.
Because of that, Sigrid found that she liked opera more than theatre and learned that she preferred duets to solos. She also knew that gray and yellow did not go well together and found that blue and pink go well together. She, too, found that she preferred tea to coffee, mousse to sponge cake, and silk to velvet.
Taste expansion.
Rowen Green called it that way.
“You would not know if something is good or bad if you don’t try it. Not knowing what you like means you haven’t tried anything you’d like.”
Rowen Green said so and handed her books, which now Sigrid also found that romance novels were fun. She liked riding a horse to the suburbs for a picnic and taking a boat ride, but she preferred the former more.
“It’s good to follow trends, but the important thing is to choose the one that suits you. Clothes are about a lot of failing and then success. Well, if you have an advisor, the failing rate would decrease a little.”
Marisuez flipped through some sample clothes. She found herself enjoying and having a lot of fun making someone spend money.
The vacation was over when Sigrid finally filled up the closet in her house.
