Singlehandedly - Chapter 29
Chapter 29: Guo Bojun
On June 29th, Yunhai City, inside a residential building next to the Huangpu River.
Guo Bojun stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows, looking over the river with a clear view.
The view here was excellent, he could have a panoramic view of the large river. Especially at night, there would be boats on the river and people along the river. The pleasure of overlooking the night view was a feeling of satisfaction that many people couldn’t imagine.
Yet, Guo Bojun didn’t have the mood to appreciate this view.
Guo Bojun didn’t want to go to the imperial capital anymore. He kept feeling that the special training camp was more than just training their physical fitness and willpower.
“Jiang Lulu?”
“Is your mother sending you when we go to the Imperial Capital this time?” Guo Bojun asked in a message.
Strictly speaking, Jiang Lulu belonged to the category of a person with mental retardation. She dropped out after finishing junior high school and stopped studying. Her family hired private tutoring to teach her since then.
It was a pity that there wasn’t much result. She only scored 200 plus marks for the college entrance examination.
And this also caused Jiang Lulu’s mother to accompany her every time she went out. Either that or her personal bodyguard would follow her. Not only Guo Bojun knew about it, the whole circle knew about this, so they would usually accommodate her.
Dong Dong.
Jiang Lulu returned the message.
When Guo Bojun looked at it, his heart went cold. “Jiang Lulu’s mother won’t be sending her this time?”
“That’s right, my mother said that I must exercise my ability to be independent!” Jiang Lulu was very happy, she felt that she had finally grown up.
Guo Bojun turned dark and cursed secretly.
‘Even taking medicine is useless for you!’
‘Aren’t you aware of what kind of brain you have!’
Ignoring Jiang Lulu’s messages.
He turned his head,
his father who built an empire from scratch was slowly eating steamed buns and drinking soy milk, while at the same time browsing the news on his tablet.
“Dad.”
Guo Bojun said in a low voice, “I want to take care of the company affairs with Elder Brother. Even being an assistant is also okay for me.”
The middle-aged man took a sip of soy milk and shook his head in silence.
Guo Bojun smiled miserably and said, “You don’t allow me to manage the subsidiary company and also don’t allow me to help Elder Brother, then why did you ask me to return to Hua Country? I was living very well abroad.”
The middle-aged man with white hair on the temples looked sideways at Guo Bojun.
“The things you eat,
the thinks you drink,
the things you wear,
and all things you play and live in are given to you by your family. You have played enough, it’s time to come back and do proper stuff. You can’t keep playing forever, I don’t allow it.”
Hearing this.
Guo Bojun’s face paled. “Proper stuff? I think taking over the family business is what proper stuff is.”
“Come here, sit here.” The middle-aged man looked away from the government affairs news and waved to his third son Guo Bojun, motioning him to sit down and talk.
Guo Bojun sat next to him obediently.
“Who am I.”
The middle-aged man asked directly.
Guo Bojun hesitated for a moment, then said obediently, “You are my Dad, and also…”
“Then what’s the problem. Fortunately, you still know that I am your dad.” The middle-aged man glared at him, then gave Guo Bojun two cups of special soy milk and continued to read the news on the web.
“Uh.”
Guo Bojun took a mouth of sweet soy milk.
“That’s right.”
With a flash of his inspiration, he understood. Even if his father didn’t like him, or was disappointed in him, he wouldn’t harm his own son.
After drinking finish the two cups of soy milk, Guo Bojun dressed up and went out. Before leaving for the Imperial Capital, he had to go comfort his girlfriends. After all, he expected that he wouldn’t be returning until the end of the year.
Of course.
Guo Bojun wished he could return to Yunhai in advance.
That would mean he could start to take over the family business.
…
Yunhai University of Finance and Economics, male dormitory building.
“Yo!”
“Almsgiver Tang has returned from retrieving the scriptures!”[1]
Wu Jie, who was doing push-ups in the small space of the bedroom, jumped up instantly, walked to the door, opened the door, and tried to hug Tang Hong, but Tang Hong avoided him with a look of disgust.
Wu Jie instantly felt sad. “My heart hurts so much.”
Tang Hong curled his lips and smiled. “You clearly want to use me as a towel!”
Wu Jie was wearing a vest, not only was he sweaty, but his hands were also very dirty.
“Hehe.”
Wu Jie shrugged. “Today’s Saturday, shall we go out to barbecue together?”
“That buffet barbecue restaurant?” Tang Hong held his chin and shook his head. “There is no Coke and Sprite in that restaurant. Let’s change to another buffet restaurant today, my treat.”
Wu Jie’s eyes lit up. “Really?!”
Without waiting for Tang Hong to say anything more, Wu Jie pushed open the wooden door of the bedroom like the wind, pulling up Zeng Li, who was still lying in bed, and Han Shibin, who was sitting cross-legged on the bed and playing games.
“What are you doing.” Han Shibin was unhappy.
“Don’t disrupt my sleep…” Zeng Li continued to cover himself with his quilt.
Wu Jie hurriedly said, “Let’s go for a good meal, Tang Hong is treating.”
There was a moment of silence.
Swoosh!
The quilt was violently pulled away.
While adjusting his fluffy hairstyle, Zeng Li blandly said, “It won’t do if there’s no meat.”
“Actually, it’s okay without meat.” Han Shibin followed by saying shyly, “Um, brothers, can you wait for me to finish this game.”
“How long.”
Wu Jie didn’t lift his head.
Han Shibin clicked his mouse madly. “Ten minutes, ten minutes is definitely enough.”
“Okay, I shall use the time to wash my face.” Zeng Li kicked the quilt to the end of the bed, kicked it into a ball, took his tooth cup, and slowly went to wash up.
Seeing Tang Hong, Zeng Li laughed.
“Aiya.”
“Having one less person to share the electricity bill, we can’t even afford to turn on the air conditioner now.” Zeng Li wanted to ask Tang Hong where exactly was he living now.
If Tang Hong was renting a single room, it was much better to stay with them in the dormitory.
Tang Hong blinked and said, “I’m turning on the central air conditioner every day and blowing a small breeze, it’s so cold that I have to cover myself with the quilt.”
“Tsk tsk, rich man.”
Zeng Li only thought that Tang Hong was joking. After brushing his teeth, he took out a few shirts from the cabinet and chose a lotus-colored shirt after some comparison.
On the scorching summer day at the end of June, the weather was too hot.
Wearing a dark shirt would definitely get soaked.
“Oh right.”
Zeng Li buttoned his shirt as he asked, “What will we eat later?”
“Seafood steak buffet, in a nearby hotel. The score is not bad.” Tang Hong was looking at the public review food list. He felt that the score in this list was more accurate than that in Meituan.
Zeng Li was startled.
He has been to that place, the price wasn’t low, it would cost an average of a few hundred per person.
“Actually, there is no need to treat.” Zeng Li tugged at the corner of his shirt.
“I’ve already bought it, lunch coupons.”
Tang Hong shook his phone with a smile on his face. Zeng Li was stunned by Tang Hong’s prominent arm muscles.
After they had their meal.
Zeng Li and Wujie watched Tang Hong walk into the subway station entrance, then took a taxi back to school with Han Shibin.
“Do you think…”
Zeng Li rubbed his fingers as he said, “Tang Hong won the lottery?”
Zeng Li’s family was quite well-doing, he wasn’t concerned about this small amount of expense. But having lived together for three years, he believed that he knew Tang Hong quite well. Tang Hong’s living expenses were 2,000 per month, and previously, he had a girlfriend, Jiao Xiaoyu. It could be said that Tang Hong’s spent most of his living expenses every month and couldn’t save money.
These two months were better than before, but Tang Hong shouldn’t be able to bear the cost of treating them like this. “I looked at the bill just now, the four of us spent almost 2,000 just now.”
“What internship did he get.”
“Causing him to celebrate like this.”
Zeng Li wondered. He proposed to split the bit accordingly, but Tang Hong rejected it.
It wouldn’t be good if he continued to talk about splitting the bill since Tang Hong already rejected it. If not, it would seem like he, Zeng Li, had lots of money and was insisting on treating them instead.
“Could it be that he’s the godly man with an internship salary of 30,000 Hua dollars?” Zeng Li scratched his head. The class counselor had already said that it was a rumor.
False news.
And the news was very strange, no one knew who spread it.
“I’m wondering too.”
Wu Jie slightly glanced at Han Shibin who was sitting in the front row of the ride-hailing service car. Han Shibin was busy chatting with a lady on WeChat, and various emoticons filled his field of vision.
In the past, it was Han Shibin who was closest with Tang Hong.
Nowadays, it was different. Instead, Wu Jie and Zeng Li’s relationship with Tang Hong was better.
“Oh right.”
Wu Jie moved close to Zeng Li and whispered, “Every time I think back about that car key, it didn’t seem to be that fake.”
Wu Jie remembered the fake keys that looked legit, and so did Zeng Li.
“That key?”
“Not so fake?”
Zeng Li opened his mouth, partly understanding and partly stunned. “It’s not possible, right?”
“Wait and ask him next semester.”
Wu Jie looked out the window. The street scene receded, and the afternoon sun was shining on this blossoming cosmopolitan modern city.
…
Countdown to the special training camp: one day.
