Chapter 22: 022 The Victim

There were only a small number of people that Lu Wu could take advantage of.
Especially those who were willing to give Lu Wu money.
These would be his parents and Pang Tutu.
However, Lu Wu didn’t want to take it from his parents and as for his second choice, he was sure that he wouldn’t even get 50,000 yuan even if he sold her away.
Which was why none of them was the one that would be paying for Skeleton’s ingredients this time.
Instead, the chosen one was his boss –Li Kai!
That’s right. If you actually followed through, Li Kai had been his target ever since Lu Wu met him for the first time.
Lu Wu initially planned to impress Li Kai with his talent and get him to pay for all the upcoming funds that Lu Wu needed.
But then after that, Lu Wu thought about it and came up with another idea.
He realised that it was useless for him to be showing off his talents like a peacock because Li Kai wasn’t even interested. So, Lu Wu’s impetuous heart settled down.
Although he had calmed himself down, it didn’t mean that Lu Wu had no plans of taking advantage of his boss.
Li Kai was an extremely good target. Hmm…. In the very beginning, Lu Wu wanted Li Kai’s knowledge of the summoned beast trainer. Then, after that, Lu Wu was more interested in the resources that Li Kai had.
He had never given up on Li Kai. It was just that he had adjusted his thoughts and slowly came up with a new strategy.
He had used an entire month to get all the information that he needed and after working at the grocery store for a month, it was time for Lu Wu to execute his plan.
The plan that he had in mind was not only targeted at the 50,000 yuan, it wasn’t as simple as that.
Or it can be said that this was not the main purpose of Lu Wu’s plan. He wasn’t very concerned about money.
Lu Wu might not be able to take out 10,000 yuan for himself, but at the same time, he didn’t really care even if Li Kai could give him 100,000 yuan.
The thing that he wanted the most was to get into the circle of summoned beast trainers. For the past month, Lu Wu realised that the summoned beast trainers were a very discrete group. You would never be able to join them unless you were a trainer yourself which made it extremely difficult for him to get any information about them.
Which was why Lu Wu decided to give it a try. If it worked according to how he had planned, it would be his entry pass into the circle of summoned beast trainers.
If it failed, the worst thing that could happen would be Lu Wu losing his current job.
After evaluating the pros and cons, Lu Wu decided that he should give it a try!
…
29th July, Quancheng City, Li Kai Summoner’s Grocery Store.
This morning, Lu Wu went to work as per usual.
Then, he started his work as he usually did. Lu Wu would start his day by cleaning the shelves and then arranging all the items on the shelves. After that, he would find an item that he was interested in and experiment with it for the entire day.
Usually, Lu Wu would continue doing his own thing for the entire day until night time, but on this day, he stopped around 10:30 a.m.
After working for a month, Lu Wu was extremely clear about his boss’ daily routine and his boss would usually be awake by now.
So, Lu Wu stopped what he was doing and went to the room that was at the back of the store.
After a while, the door opened and Li Kai’s figure appeared at the door. He looked at the store that was quite empty and then looked at Lu Wu with a suspicious look.
Lu Wu took a deep breath and said, “There’s something that I would like to discuss with you, Boss!”
Li Kai was shocked. He noticed that Lu Wu was very different today and he had a feeling that something troublesome was heading his way. So, he asked, “What’s the matter?”
Lu Wu was a little nervous when he initiated the conversation, but as it went on, he was able to calm himself down as he slowly stated his appeal.
“I would like to borrow your studio. Umm… along with some of your ingredients.”
Li Kai became silent after hearing what Lu Wu said.
After working together for the entire month, Lu Wu had certain understandings of Li Kai and vice versa.
Li Kai knew that Lu Wu was trying to be a summoned beast trainer and he also knew that Lu Wu had been targeting him since the very beginning.
He definitely knew that this time, Lu Wu was officially making a move on him.
In fact, Li Kai didn’t mind helping Lu Wu.
Or to be more specific, Li Kai acknowledged the amount of effort that Lu Wu had put in, but this didn’t mean that he would just accept Lu Wu and introduce him into the circle of summoned beast trainers.
Li Kai knew better than anyone else that working hard was the most useless thing on the road to becoming a summoned beast trainer.
Also, it was because Li Kai didn’t have the time to help Lu Wu because he wasn’t in the circle yet!
Therefore, after being quiet for a period of time, he thought of how to reply to Lu Wu.
“I know what you’re thinking but it won’t work, I…”
Li Kai immediately rejected Lu Wu, but Lu Wu chimed in instead.
“If I’m not wrong, you’ve been busy trying to enhance the summoned beast in your studio for the past one month, right? Sorry for being rude, but you’re doing it all wrong! Your experiment will never work!”
Lu Wu’s words were surprising, but Li Kai still remained impassive.
For the past month, Lu Wu had been cleaning the studio for the entire month which was why Li Kai wasn’t surprised that Lu Wu knew what he was up to.
Lu Wu knew that this itself was not enough to convince Li Kai which was why he continued.
“The summoned beast in your studio is called a plant class summoned beast known as Firefly Grass. Its strength is at one star with a normal quality. For the past one month, you have tried three different ways to evolve it. The method you used every time was the same, the only difference was the ingredients. The ingredients that you’ve used are ‘Ancient Vine Juice’, ‘Peach Tree Heart’ and the ‘Foul Ape Blood’. All three experiments failed as well, am I right?”
This managed to surprise Li Kai.
It wasn’t shocking for Lu Wu to know what experiment he was doing since Lu Wu had been cleaning his studio every day.
However, Li Kai was shocked that Lu Wu was able to list down the three main ingredients that he used.
This was because every time Lu Wu came into the studio, all the ingredients had turned into ashes and it was highly unlikely that Lu Wu could identify the ingredients that were used. Plus, it was impossible that Lu Wu would know what was the main ingredient used in his experiments unless Lu Wu had been watching him the entire time.
As Li Kai thought about it, he looked at Lu Wu as though he was a threat.
“Please don’t look at me like that. It actually isn’t that hard to guess what ingredients you used. I have the ingredients list in my hands and since you take the ingredients from the store, it’s quite easy for me to know what the main ingredients are.”
Li Kai was stunned for a moment. He had already forgotten about the fact that Lu Wu indeed had the ingredients list… but wait!
“The number of ingredients used each time are different and I’ve been using more than ten ingredients each time. Every time I changed the main ingredient, I would also change the amount of the other ingredients as well. How did you manage to identify the three main ingredients?”
As soon as Li Kai asked this question, Lu Wu couldn’t help but smiled.
Li Kai had finally got to the main point and Lu Wu could now continue with his plan.
Lu Wu, who had been waiting for this moment, handed over the notebook that was in his hand…
