Chapter 1: Luo Fei!

Luo Fei was woken up by the glaring sunlight that shone on his face through the window. He was staying in a small room that had only a faulty desk and a chair. There was also a toilet right in front of the door.
After Luo Fei freshened up, he changed into a set of black warrior clothes. He couldn’t resist admiring his tall and handsome reflection in the mirror.
He then let out a sigh of relief and murmured softly. “It has been two years since I came to this planet…”
He was once an ordinary young man from the 21st century but by coincidence, he transmigrated to this planet, which was far more dangerous than Earth. This planet was completely different from where he came from. Here, he was bestowed with extraordinary powers.
On this planet, martial arts were extremely developed and almost everyone here pursued martial arts. All of the highly-skilled martial artists were very respected by the people.
In this new life, his name, Luo Fei, remained the same as the one from his previous life. Two years ago, his parents had passed away from fighting ferocious beasts, leaving behind his blind but obedient little sister for him to care for.
With his own eyes, he had seen a giant wolf that was five to six meters long descending from the sky onto the crowded streets, recklessly slaughtering humans in its way. The giant wolf was so fast that it could not be tracked with the naked eye. Luo Fei could only see blood splattered around the streets with deafening dreadful screams that resounded through the sky.
During the bloodshed, a strong group of martial artists appeared and successfully killed the giant wolf after a ferocious battle.
He could not erase the memory of that particular bloody scene. Until now, Luo Fei could still remember the tragedy vividly.
Recalling the incident, if the group of martial artists had not come to their rescue, Luo Fei couldn’t imagine how he would have survived the incident. That incident made him realize how weak ordinary people were as life was so fragile when faced with a monstrous beast.
Therefore, in order to survive on this planet, he desperately wanted to become a strong martial artist to protect and to have more control over his life.
After a series of detailed investigations, Luo Fei finally understood how this planet worked. This planet was much bigger than Earth, and there were ferocious beasts that ran rampant and terrorized civilians wherever they went. Humans were no longer at the top of the food chain. Instead, they had fallen to the lowest level and were preyed on by beasts.
In order to defend against the ferocious beasts, humans had to set up several bases to stay united and keep each other warm. They made use of various technological weapons but still barely managed to defend themselves against the attacks of the ferocious beasts.
However, a more terrifying war with the beasts broke out and within one night, countless bases were destroyed. Only a handful of large bases managed to survive the war without total destruction. It was during these trying times that humans suddenly discovered a strange power.
This strange power could be absorbed by the human body, and it enabled humans to gain powerful combat strength which was on par with the superpowers of Superman.
Since then, humans embarked on the path of cultivation.
…
Every base had then set up cultivation academies to teach and train their people to defend themselves against the ferocious beasts. Humans that were interested could apply for admission to these cultivation academies after they reached the age of sixteen. After becoming a martial artist, they could then choose to join various forces.
Luo Fei also enrolled in a cultivation academy and became a martial art disciple two years ago. However, he didn’t seem to have displayed great talent like the main characters in day-to-day novels. Instead, he was still a mere loser and his abilities didn’t improve even after he trained for two years.
“If I still can’t become a martial artist this semester, I’ll leave the academy!” Luo Fei laughed meekly. After he made up his mind and adjusted his clothes, he strode out of his room.
In his academy, there were disciples that were more well-off, and there were also disciples from average families. The two social classes were clearly divided and were constantly going up against each other.
Luo Fei didn’t get involved but instead, he kept himself isolated from the other disciples. Every day, he would rather improve his abilities and spend his whole day on the training ground.
“Ha! Hei!” As he arrived, Luo Fei heard the bustling sounds of other disciples practicing at the training ground. Everyone was focused on their own training and nobody noticed Luo Fei’s arrival. He walked over to the fitness training corner and began his strength training for the day.
Two conditions had to be met in order for someone to become a martial artist and both conditions were indispensable. The first condition was to possess 1,000kg of strength and the second condition was to boost his speed to 100m/s.
After two years of training, Luo Fei’s strength had reached 320kg, which was the beginner qualification for a martial artist disciple. The path to become a martial artist was very difficult. Hence, everyone would first be trained as martial artist disciples before being able to achieve the status of a martial artist.
Strength training was relatively easy compared to speed training. Martial artist disciples just needed to focus their strength and punch wildly on the sandbags. Today was no exception for Luo Fei as he warmed up his body and began his strength training.
Thwack! Thwack! Thwack!
Left hook! Right hook! Uppercut! Lower Jab!
Luo Fei’s punches on the sandbag sounded intensive and heavy. Shortly after he started training, he was already sweating and exhaling loudly, as his motivated face slightly blushed from the training.
An hour had passed, Luo Fei continued to focus on throwing his punches while sweating profusely.
“Stop! Stop! Stop!” Luo Fei froze immediately after he heard an unexpected voice. He turned around and a look of disgust flashed instantly across his eyes. He frowned and asked, “How may I help you?”
“Move aside! It’s my turn to train!” There were five or six people that stood in front of Luo Fei. The arrogant man in the lead who had ordered Luo Fei to move aside looked at Luo Fei with a mocking expression.
Luo Fei was stunned by the situation and said. “Aren’t there empty training spots next to mine?”
The leader then pointed to the sandbag Luo Fei was training on and retorted, “I prefer to train on yours!”
Luo Fei flew into rage as he was mocked and taunted. “Yang Jie, don’t cross the line!”
“Do you want to challenge me? I will gladly fight you. Whoever wins gets your sandbag.” Yang Jie arrogantly raised his eyebrows and sneered at Luo Fei.
Luo Fei clenched his fists tightly as his heart burnt with anger. He wanted to defeat this guy so badly. Instead, Luo Fei inhaled deeply and took a step back.
“Okay! I’ll let you have this sandbag!” Luo Fei tolerated and was about to change to another sandbag when he heard Yang Jie’s annoying voice again.
“This entire training ground is fully booked by me today.”
Luo Fei paused after he heard Yang Jie’s demanding request. He then observed Yang Jie closely for a moment and without saying a word, Luo Fei immediately left the training ground.
“Haha! Brother Jie, you are the best!”
“Of course he is! Do you think that Luo Fei will dare to challenge Brother Jie to a fight?”
“Brother Jie is an intermediate-level martial artist whom Luo Fei would never dare to challenge!”
…
Even though the mocking voices behind made Luo Fei very angry, he was helpless. He had been mocked similarly for countless times since he joined the academy.
Yang Jie was a senior martial arts disciple in the academy who often abused his older brother’s martial artist status to mistreat and bully ordinary disciples. His actions had already caused many disciples to drop out of the academy. However, Yang Jie usually did not disturb any talented martial arts disciples or disciples from martial arts families. Hence, the academy decided to turn a blind eye on his behavior as there were many respected martial artists in Yang Jie’s family.
Hence, Luo Fei became one of Yang Jie’s targets to be bullied. Yang Jie despised Luo Fei’s hardworking attitude to train as a martial artist despite not having the talent in martial arts. He also looked down on the fact that Luo Fei was not from a family that had any status in the martial arts world. Many disciples would have given up and dropped out of the academy due to Yang Jie’s bullying. However, Luo Fei was different as he had endured the mockery for two years, which consequently made Yang Jie even more displeased with Luo Fei’s determination.
Luo Fei then left the training ground and walked into the quiet compound of the academy.
Luo Fei did not have any natural talent in martial arts and therefore had remained as a beginner-level martial artist for the past two years. Yang Jie’s constant bullying also contributed to Luo Fei’s poor performance. Throughout the years, Yang Jie always applied various tactics to hog the training ground and to snatch away the free beast meat that was given out by the academy to Luo Fei.
On this planet, it was crueler to obstruct one’s path to becoming a martial artist than to kill one’s parents because failure to become a martial artist would mean that they would not have the power to protect themself and their family. No one would possibly be willing to die in the hands of a beast just because their martial artist pathway was being obstructed by others.
‘Yang Jie! I will end your life sooner or later!’ Luo Fei thought to himself..
