Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 39: Aftermath
Lu Chen was uninterested, unlike Lutecia, in understanding Albert’s thought process. What Senior Brother Finger had worried would happen would not happen to him now.
Albert’s experiences were somewhat pitiful, but Lu Chen could not muster sympathy for him.
In the grand scheme of things, he should not have mutilated multiple people; he deserved to die.
Which is why Lu Chen’s stroke was clean and precise, without a shred of hesitation.
Not far away, Lancelot, who still had some strength left in him, rushed to drag an agent who was about to be consumed by the flames. He looked at the man and woman under the maple tree.
So this is an S-grade?
To call it a gap would be an understatement; the difference between them was a rift’s length!
Eight agents fought tooth and nail to no avail, and other than him, there were three other A-class seniors, yet they were pushed to the brink, and against Albert, who had dragonized to such an extreme level, they could do nothing.
Yet the S-grade arrived in a gust of wind, then reaped Albert’s life in a gust of wind, with the ease of someone picking up a leaf during sightseeing.
He suddenly started to question life.
And Lutecia looked at Lu Chen with excitement, but then shifted her attention, “Junior Brother… you’re on fire.”
Lu Chen was a little confused and mentally repeated what Senior Brother Finger would always say to him, did Lutecia get scared so badly that she became dumb?
But in the next moment, he felt the area on his left waist was a bit hot; glancing at it, he found some flames flaring up again, so he hastily put them out.
It would be difficult to rush through a fire unscathed, but at least the casual wear Milana bought him only had some holes instead of being completely charred.
His refined pectorals were exposed, and Lutecia had been staring at them just now…
“Ahem, Senior Sister, let’s get away from here first. The fire department has been called to tie up loose ends over here.” Lu Chen was a bit embarrassed, so he changed the subject.
Lutecia apparently also realized that now was not the time for sarcastic remarks and, grabbing her junior brother’s hand, stood up. She glanced at the massive body, which was still occasionally twitching, its draconic vitality still visible.
Albert himself was indeed dead, but his torso was still subconsciously fighting to survive, though it wouldn’t last long.
Lu Chen then rushed back into the fire and to rescue Lancelot and the other agents, then placed them in a safe place outside the fire.
“Recover the corpse.” Lancelot pointed toward Albert’s corpse, which no longer resembled that of a human’s. This sort of news must never be exposed to the public. In comparison to this, the mountain fire would hardly be considered impactful headlines.
Half an hour later, Lutecia sat down outside Redhill Park on a blanket, watching the fire department struggling to put out the fire in the distance.
Albert’s corpse had already been retrieved by the Execution Bureau. The seriously injured agents were sent to the hospital, but not all: two agents died on the spot in combat, and another agent’s rib bones punctured his alveoli. Lu Chen brought him to the ambulance to save him, but he was declared dead.
Dragonslaying is no game. This was a battlefield, and people die on battlefields. This truth was perhaps what Principal Anjou was trying to convey to them.

After the mission was over, everything came to light.
Six bodies were found in the villa area located behind Redhill Park: Five young men, and one young lady.
The young lady was called Marissa, coinciding with the name that Albert kept shouting. Everyone saw the pictures of her when she was still alive and agreed that she was indeed quite pretty.
But both Lutecia and Milana’s faces were full of discontent.
The young girl was indeed quite beautiful; they shared similar facial features, but their temperaments were more than just a little different.
And using the sampling and analysis done afterwards on the scene, the Execution Bureau was able to recreate what happened that night, which was roughly the same as what Lutecia had deduced before—Except for one point: it was that Albert had not violated Marissa. Marissa had been split in half by a glass table. Looking at the markings on the scene, perhaps Albert accidentally killed Marissa in a fit of madness; he never intended to hurt her, which explained why during the battle, there were a few ‘sorry’s amongst all the howling.
How ironic that after mastering absolute violence and destroying everything he hated, he was still unable to get what he desired. Even though he became the strongest boy, he still preferred to be a pathetic lapdog to a girl.
“What’s on your mind?” It was early in the morning. After finishing the mission report, Lu Chen walked to the balcony to get some fresh air, where he saw Lutecia lying in front of the railing.
“Nothing much, just thinking how if you love the wrong person, it could be the last mistake you make.” Lutecia looked at the people going their separate ways on the street, the rising sun adding layers of almost transparent texture upon her already dazzling blonde hair. Her face was slightly pale and haggard; it was apparent that the damage caused by having one’s Kotodama broken through was not something a night’s sleep could heal.
“How did you figure out that something was wrong with him?” Lu Chen lit a cigarette. Albert did indeed have some regrettable qualities: according to what the Execution Bureau found after extracting his blood and analyzing it, the teenager’s blood belonged to a high-risk series. If it hadn’t involuntarily awakened and become corrupted, he could have been a super A-class hybrid.
If he had been discovered by Cassell College and received formal education and training, he may have led a more noteworthy life. But, Albert fell in love with a rotten bitch; fury and remorse shattered his heart, effectively making him into a true monster.
“I didn’t.” No one would have expected Lutecia to say that, and Lu Chen froze for a moment too. He had assumed that Lutecia had deduced it due to her superior profiling skills.
“Profiling isn’t omnipotent. Not to mention I was only able to have a conversation with him. Things would’ve been different if I’d been able to go to the first crime scene,” Lutecia shrugged.
“Then you…” Lu Chen hesitated.
“Yes, I believed the whole time that he was just a shy, ordinary teenager with low self-esteem, and even after learning he was adopted, I still didn’t suspect him.” Lutecia’s expression was melancholic, “Redhill Park at night is indeed a good place to commit a crime, but if you think about it, everything that happened yesterday was under my manipulation; rather than saying he took me there, it was I who took him there instead, so the location couldn’t be considered a major suspicion.”
“But Senior Sister, it really looked like you saw through him towards the end.” Lu Chen was puzzled.
“I was only using a series of preplanned questions; who knew if he was the real deal.” Lutecia’s expression was fearful, thinking about the risk she was in at the moment, then patted her chest in relief. “When I saw his golden eyes when he raised his head, I really was frightened, but I had to keep up the act, because I was also a bit angry at that moment.”
“Angry?“
“Dunno who it was aimed towards. That licentious girl or wimpy Albert.”
Lu Chen nodded, “Got it.”
“What do you get? Sure you got it.” Lutecia rolled her eyes.
“Senior Sister, you… are actually a gentle person, huh?” Lu Chen extinguished the cigarette in his hand, took in the morning light, then looked out into the distance.
When he slashed down, he had no such complicated thoughts.
That bad boy and Marissa did some bad things, so they were punished.
Albert did wrong, so Lu Chen simply cut him apart.
