Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 46: Interesting Caesar
Caesar and Lu Chen sat shoulder to shoulder on the bench. Caesar’s upper body was bare, and he was applying medicine to his wounds while Lu Chen finished a bottle of water and threw it into the trashcan in the distance.
“Tsk—I didn’t expect you to be able to dodge that.”
Caesar seemed to touch somewhere painful and grimaced.
Back at that moment, Caesar was sure that he had won: Lu Chen had thrown away the steel plate and weapon. He was barehanded!
Twisting the body takes balance into account; there was no way Lu Chen would have dodged my shots.
But what Lu Chen did was jaw-dropping: his foot launched out suddenly, breaking apart the ledge of the wall, then he kicked the debris out, blocking Caesar’s carefully planned fatal shots.
From the beginning, Caesar did not plan to compete with Lu Chen in a hand-to-hand bout. He was proud and confident, but not stupid: Lu Chen was a youth with abnormal strength who ran a martial arts dojo in his hometown. How could he try to confront the enemy’s strong point using a weak point?
He had decided to use his shooting, which he was most proficient in, from the start, but it was just that Lu Chen’s reflexes were too ridiculous. The barrage that he had fired into the smoke previously left him left with only two bullets; thus, he couldn’t guarantee a fatal shot.
Which resulted in the plan afterwards.
It’s just that he didn’t expect his perfect timing and position to be overcome by his opponent through brute force. Caesar didn’t know whether to cry or laugh.
“Senior Brother Caesar, I didn’t expect you to be the dishonorable type.” Lu Chen felt at a loss of words. We agreed to a hand-to-hand fight, but then you brought out a gun. All you were missing was the “times have changed, old man” line.
“It was a spar, hm? So, of course each man had to utilize their strengths,” Caesar also unscrewed a bottle of water and drank a mouthful, “Just call me Caesar.”
He had spent a long time in the clock tower in advance in order to ponder every possible situation. Falling from such an altitude was within his consideration as well. If his plans worked, he’d be able to get down safely using certain parts of the clock tower that were jutting out. He had even taken into account the possibility of catching Lu Chen safely if he fell.
But he didn’t expect himself to be the one to be injured by a pile of debris…
“Caesar, you sure are interesting. If you were allowed to use your Kotodama, it would’ve been more interesting.”
Lu Chen thought the college was being too careful with the combat confrontation class. The duel between him and Caesar was considered to be overly aggressive, but in his opinion, he thought it was boring if people weren’t allowed to use their full strength.
“I’m of the same opinion. We should advise the school to open up a Kotodama combat class,” Caesar had a “great minds think alike” expression.
Lu Chen lit up a cigarette, which was swiped from Finger, and looked at the fluttering white doves on campus. This campus life was quite different from what he had imagined, but he liked it.
“Try this, Cuban origin, Cohiba. This is what men should smoke,” Caesar pulled out a metal box and gave a cigar to Lu Chen.
Lu Chen took it and lit it, then took a drag, “Cough…”
Caesar was shocked, this guy was inhaling cigar smoke!
“Lu Chen, you can’t inhale this,” Caesar kindly remarked. He just remembered that this S-grade was a “bumpkin.”
“I choked a little,” Lu Chen smiled awkwardly. Should’ve told me earlier.
He then slowly took another puff, swirling with his tongue this time. The aroma of the tobacco permeated throughout his mouth; it indeed was something else.
“Not bad,” he commented.
“The stuff I like is always top notch,” Caesar smiled brightly, but he may have aggravated a wound, causing his smile to crumple a bit. It was a bit amusing to see.
As the two cordially interacted, a certain unexpected guest came: an instructor with a grim facade.
“Lu Chen, Caesar, this is the cost of damages.”
He handed a list, and Lu Chen received it and took a look.
Violent breach of trenches, destruction of the industrial-grade gate… destruction of the clock tower’s outer wall, collapse of the clock tower’s top floor…
Lu Chen froze. Weren’t you allowed to do anything you wanted in the confrontation match?
As if seeing what Lu Chen was thinking, the instructor said, “Usually, a certain degree of damage is allowed, but there are too many facilities that have either collapsed or are severely damaged this time, which will affect future use and need to be repaired.
Lu Chen was silent as he looked at all the zeroes on the paper. It seemed like his scholarship wouldn’t be enough to cover it. Would he really end up having to rely on the money Finger made from his photos to eat? Then he would really be a leech at that point.
“The school is too petty. The money the trustees donate annually should be more than enough to fix a few crappy buildings. Don’t worry, in consideration of the result of our battle, I’ll cover it,” Caesar took the list and magnanimously patted Lu Chen’s shoulder. Lu Chen smiled somewhat embarrassingly, as most of these facilities were broken by him.
The amount on the list was about a year’s worth of scholarship for him, but it seemed to not even amount to pocket change for Caesar. The noble son from Italy seemed not to have any concept of money at all.
“I heard that you’ll soon become the next Lionheart president?” The two of them conversed casually.
“They’re all rumors. Senior Brother Valery hasn’t returned yet, and when he does, he might not even be satisfied with the current me.”
“Ah Valery, he is indeed an outstanding man. It’s too bad he’s not at the college. The days of not having a rival were so boring, but it’s all good now.”
“Am I considered your rival now?”
“Yes, and a friend as well.”
“Haha, then I’m looking forward to my days as president.”
The two people on the bench glanced at each other and both smiled.
“Lu Chen, the president is back. He wants to see you,” at this moment, a Lionheart Society sophomore came over and said to Lu Chen.
He’s here? Lu Chen got up and said goodbye to Caesar.

Late at night, when all was silent, Amber Hall remained brightly lit.
It was a very grand building. The hall contained all essential internal facilities, and at this time, only an ancient candelabra was lit. Overnight, as if going back in time, the ancient solemn air permeated throughout the building.
The Lionheart Society’s members were dressed in school uniforms, and the sides of the first floor’s hall and the second floor’s corridors were filled with people.
None of the members present were below B-grade: those who joined the Lionheart Society were elites.
At the center of the second floor’s circular corridor stood Valery, tall, gazing at everyone.
“The meeting hall is quite large; Amber Hall would serve as a fine club activity venue.” For some reason, under this solemn atmosphere, the first thing to come out of Valery’s mouth was a comment about activity venues. But, what he said immediately after made all of the members of Lionheart pale, “But we should feel shame; I should feel shame.”
“The history of the Lionheart Society can be traced back to before the founding of Cassell College. Ever since the founding of the college, we have always held the succession ceremony at Norton Hall, yet here we are at Amber Hall instead,” Valery’s voice was low and slow, causing a number of Lionheart members to bow their heads.
“This is because of my incompetence and failure to fulfill my duty, and it is because of indolence on everyone’s part. The Lionheart Society’s glory was stolen away by the Student Union; for the first time, the lion’s proud head bowed in defeat.”
Valery raised both fists into the air, his voice growing more and more incensed.
