Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 48: The New Ace Agent
During a rare leisurely weekend, Lu Chen had originally planned to snuggle inside his dormitory and watch the ‘08 masterpiece Code Geass with Finger.
As expected of its legendary name: even someone like Lu Chen watched with great interest.
But something more interesting to him came up: he received a summon from the Execution Bureau. Finally, he no longer had to rust slowly in the college.
As for the Lionheart Society, he already promoted a group of newcomers: Chu Zihang was now the vice president, and Susie, Milana and others were assistants for the paperwork. He was now freed of all this.
Poor Lancelot was immediately appointed to do some heavy lifting just after recovering, but looking at him, it looked like he was pretty happy to be preoccupied with Lionheart.
In the empty streets of Oakland, the sky was dark while the neon lights crisscrossed; rain poured down, and it was as if one could hear the angered roar of the god of thunder above the clouds.
A ferocious creature was running wildly, his flowing blood washed into the sewers by the rain. He should have been roaring in triumph, having torn apart and killed those who were after him, but instead, he was running like a lost dog.
He suddenly stopped. At the end of a road stood a youth, his rain-soaked hair sticking to his forehead, a pair of pure-gold eyes silently watching him.
A monster… stronger than himself.
As lightning slashed the sky, the youth moved, the pitter patter of steps in the rain sounded, but was instantly drowned out by the heavy rain and thunder. In a flash, a desolate head flew into the air.
Swords swung, blood spilled.
The circular arc of blood was instantly washed away by the heavy rain as if nothing happened, but the head that rolled was the best evidence.
“Mission accomplished, please come clean up,” Lu Chen opened his mouth, his voice traveling through his headset to the person on the other side. In less than 30 seconds, a group of Execution Bureau agents appeared and began to retrieve the body and eliminate traces.
Lu Chen opened the door and entered the RV that was the temporary command office of the Execution Bureau. Immediately, someone handed him a towel and hot water.
“Thank you,” Lu Chen took the towel and wiped his hands, but did not drink from the cup.
“Ruthless, efficient, powerful. You have not yet graduated but have already reached this level. You really aren’t letting these seniors save face.”
The officer in charge of this mission was an old acquaintance of Lu Chen. It was the one who had lured him into the college, Heinard.
“Please, you’re too kind, senior,” Lu Chen politely said.
In these few months, he had already gone on 19 missions, from the uncontrollable depraved Death Servitor, to the fourth generation species dug up in Egypt. It can be said that it was a bountiful few months.
In addition to the first kill rewards and side mission that gave the temporarily unusable Origin Coins, his reputation was shooting up, breaking the one thousand point milestone.
Much less not graduating yet, he was still just a freshman and had already become the ace agent of the Executive Department.
Yes, and the agents who worked with Lu Chen all said it was a good thing!
How couldn’t it be a good thing?
In the past, the pursuit of a target not only often needed a detailed and reliable plan, but they had to take into consideration what roads to block should the target flee, etc. Also, if the target was particularly strong, casualties were inevitable.
But with Lu Chen, it was completely different. With his Kotodama: Split Second, no matter how fast the target ran, they were still unable to escape from the palm of his hand. As of now, with the exception of the 4th generation dragon, few could survive more than a few moments against him.
At first, the senior members of the Execution Bureau were cautious and careful, making various plans for Lu Chen to ensure that everything would be safe and secure after acting together with the other agents to hunt and kill the target.
But after they were familiarized, the process was simplified.
It became: confirm the location of the target, if the area was uninhabited, then directly drop Lu Chen; if it was an urban area, then clear the flow of people, then drop Lu Chen.
In short: drop Lu Chen and be done.
Missions had never been so simple.
A Kotodama like Split Second equipped to an S-grade was like putting the Sword of Damocles* over the head of the target. In front of this absolute speed, there was simply nowhere to run.
*Sword of Damocles: “allusion to the imminent and ever-present peril faced by those with power.”
“After this mission, I reckon you won’t be summoned for a while,” Heinard said as he took a puff from his cigarette and looked at the pouring rain through the window.
“Why?” Lu Chen froze for a moment, thinking, is there something I didn’t handle well in this mission?
“Don’t get me wrong, the Execution Bureau is very satisfied with your performance. It’s your mentor,” Heinard paused, “Minister Schneider thinks that running too many missions is not good for your physical and mental health.”
“Huh? Physical and mental health?” Lu Chen short circuited. He never expected these words from the mentor that was as scary as an icy demon king. Why does he sound like an actual educator?
Oh, come to think of it, my mentor is also one of the college’s professors… he is an educator.
It’s just that educator wore a breathing mask, and under it a hideous and wretched face, giving orders that determined the fate of dangerous targets around the world.
“Don’t worry, if there’s a good job, I’ll call you,” Heinard smiled. He was also more familiar with Lu Chen now, realizing that this youth loved to fight and that he did not want to obediently stay in school.
“Mm, okay, then I’ll be going back to the college,” Lu Chen nodded. If Schneider himself said so, then there was probably no negotiating for the time being. He would consider going back to school “vacation.”

Sitting on the college’s train, World Python, Lu Chen looked at the red maples on both sides that had begun to shed. Now, it was late autumn, and it would truly be winter in another one.
In this period of time of missions, he completed the first kills of a 5th and 4th generation species. To be frank, he was a bit disappointed.
The so-called pureblood dragonkin were not much stronger, or perhaps the 4th and 5th generation species could only be considered the minions of the Dragon Clan.
He got and used three Dragon Blood Seeds, and aside from gaining +3 to each of his attributes, his dragon blood lineage also improved somewhat.
Using the standards of Cassell College, he should already be a qualified C-rank hybrid, but unfortunately, he still couldn’t awaken his Kotodama. However, he had a feeling that if he obtained a Dragon Blood Crystal, he’d be able to awaken it.
He hoped that it wouldn’t be some useless garbage. He actually thought his fake Kotodama, Split Second, was already pretty good, but he couldn’t pick Kotodama, so he could only leave it to luck.
The train arrived at the station. He held Red Maple in his left hand, a suitcase as big as a backpack in his right. A Lamborghini convertible was already waiting for him.
The young lady skillfully took the suitcase, put it into the front storage bin, and stood on tiptoe to help Lu Chen fix his shirt collar.
It wasn’t that Lu Chen became corrupt, but as the current president of the Lionheart Society, his appearance had to match his status, which was why with the combined efforts of Milana and others, he was given a complete makeover. It was just that he couldn’t get used to the high-end shirts; he liked casual attire that didn’t have buttons on them.
“Chicago is not warmer than California. You should wear something thicker,” Milana scolded. Even though she hardly got to see Lu Chen, she was now the full-time secretary to Lord President.
