Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 53: Namaqualand
“Blegh—”
Lu Chen patted Fingers back and disgustedly looked away. Finger at this moment was violently hurling inside the dorm toilet.
This dude also participated in the dice game. In the first half, he held his ground, high-spirited and vigorous, but after Lu Chen left the game, it was as if his bad luck passed onto him. He had so much alcohol forced down his throat.
After Lu Chen and Caesar were done talking and were about to return to the dorms, Finger had a bottle of champagne in his hand and looked very conflicted, but under the cheering of the junior sisters, he clenched his teeth and downed it.
And… that’s how he became like this upon returning to the dorm.
“Senior Brother, you’re not too good at holding your liquor,” Lu Chen teased.
“Blegh— Junior Brother, no, blegh— not everyone has a bottomless stomach, drinking alcohol like, blegh— it’s water.”
Finger didn’t know what to think. He suffered devastating losses today. It must’ve been a curse. How the hell did I keep losing during the end?

“Ugh, boring,” Lu Chen threw down his controller. Life at the college was so boring. Other than the classes that the principal made him take, he basically didn’t go to any other class. One reason was that he didn’t understand anything, and the other was that he was already prepared to undertake missions to make up for his merit points.
So every day was spent playing games or watching movies with Finger.
But he had to wait for the shows that suited his taste to update, and now he was undefeated in the games he played. Like in The King of Fighters, ever since he played with that person called Erii, playing against anyone else was yawn-inducing.
His mentor told him that for the sake of his physical and mental health, he needed to stop carrying out missions for the Execution Bureau, but he felt like if he didn’t get to go on a mission soon, then problems with his physical and mental health may really arise.
Cooped everyday within his dorm playing games caused even Chu Zihang to remark, “Brother Lu, if you really have that much time, why not come to Lionheart Society to approve documents.”
Lu Chen politely refused. Every time he saw those things, his head would hurt.
Chu Zihang recently had Susie and others to help him with “official business,” so now a lot of the pressure was taken off him.
The fact that Lu Chen was cooped up in his dormitory playing games was known to no one but Chu Zihang. In the eyes of the Lionheart members, their S-grade president was the absolute elite.
He didn’t go to his classes because they were too easy for him and made him bored. It was said that he used to be a warrior from the east, and that he didn’t leave his dorm because he was cultivating. It must be like that!
Lu Chen was indeed “cultivating.” Other than playing games, he was also refining his bloodline in stages, and now, his Mystic Blood of God finally ascended a level.
HIs Strength, Constitution, and Dexterity increased by 3 points while his Perception rose 2 points.
The increase in his attributes didn’t seem to have changed much from when he first came to this world. For example, his Strength used to be 39 points, and now it was 45 points, which is only a 6 point increase.
It seemed to be a small increase compared to his base stats, but the attribute bonus did not increase in a linear fashion. His Strength had increased by nearly 30% compared to the start. It was growing at an incredible pace. This made him look forward to the contents of the Road to Godhood.
As if the heavens heard his complaints, at night when he just finished watching one of his newly updated shows, his phone rang: it was an email from Norma.
He was being urgently summoned!

Northwest of the Republic of South Africa, the Great Namaqualand Desert
Local Time, 21:39
This land, which was supposed to be arid and barren, was covered in orange, pink white, and yellow wildflowers.
It was a variety of daisies, violets, geraniums, heliotropes, irises, gladioli… it was a sea of flowers.
The night wind blew, and the sea of flowers rippled. Countless flowering branches collided, emitting a sound of tidal waves. the flower tips shone with a faint fluorescence. This beautiful scene seemed to come from a kingdom of dreams.
But this truly was unusual. Namaqualand Desert was indeed one of the few magical areas in the world. From mid-August to mid-September every year, “spring” would come. A sea of flowers, breathtakingly beautiful. The rest of the year, however, it was an arid desert, truly a wonder of the world.
But now, it was close to January, and winter had already started, which was long after the “spring” of Namaqualand. It was supposed to be a desert, but it was still a sea of flowers, not to mention the fluorescence of the flowers. It wasn’t a normal natural phenomenon.
The local Nama people, who maintained animistic beliefs and worshiped natural forces and ancestors, were not alarmed by this phenomenon, instead believing it to be a gift from the nature gods.
In previous years, at this time of year, they had to leave Namaqualand with their children in donkey carts and sheep to look for new grazing grounds. This time though, the situation was different, as the cattle and sheep still had grass to eat, and the children could run through the sea of flowers at night, like dark spirits.
But the local villagers received a group of “uninvited guests” to expel them: Yanks wearing expensive clothes, black trench coats, and silver world tree emblems on their chests.
The Nama were very angry, thinking that the gifts of the nature gods were discovered by these outsiders, and they had long heard that the Yankees loved to loot and to pocket everything that was good, so they disagreed!
But in the end, the Nama compromised, because the Yankees bought all their cattle and sheep—at three times the price.
Now, the Nama were packing their bags and preparing to start their migration tomorrow, except that there was a lot of reluctance from the children, who thought the scenery was so beautiful that they didn’t want to leave.
Nearby, Yankee helicopters landed and took off every day, bringing a large number of survey instruments meant to survey this land. The Nama people, although ready to migrate, held heavy disdain in their hearts.
The great power of nature, how could simple technology possibly understand?
Sara is a small local girl, a Khoikhoi (the Nama were the largest group under them). Although they were referred to as the Hottentots by outsiders, they hated this name, because it was the insulting name given to them by the Dutch colonists when they first arrived in Africa, and thus, they have always identified as Khoikhoi.
At this moment, she was running through the sea of flowers. She loved this beautiful spectacle under the moonlit night, and as she was leaving tomorrow, she couldn’t resist sneaking out to play.
“Uncle, what are you doing here?”
She stopped and looked curiously at an uncle who was wearing nice clothes and holding a “big metal block” on the ground, operating it constantly.
Bob, the agent who was called, looked up. He was assigned to this mission because he knew the local language, Khoisan, which was a newly created phonetic script based on the Latin alphabet, a niche language for the local people.
“Little sister, it’s too late for you to be playing outside. Hurry back to the tribe, or there will be a terrible monster out to eat you.” Bob attempted to scare her. He was a little upset that there were no agents to set up a blockade.
But in fact can not blame the commissioners negligence. On one hand, though there were many people surveying the area, this area was too large to be able to cover everything, and on the other hand, the little girl knew the land very well. Plus the fact it was this late at night, and a little girl the height of the flowers was indeed difficult to find.
“What monster? Sara does not believe it,” the girl only stuck out her tongue.
Right at this moment, a gust of wind blew. The sea of flowers fluttered, shimmering with fluorescent light. It was devilishly beautiful.
