Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 57: The Song of the God of Nature
Bob, who was operating the instrument, trembled. He also had a certain degree of experience interpreting the wave patterns of the instrument. This was the pattern of a heartbeat!
Looking at the frequency and wavelength, the thing hidden in the land underfoot was definitely not something small, but something close to human size.
What could be something around the size of a human be doing in this place underground? A giant rabbit? How the hell would that be possible!
Bob, who did not specialize in combat, along with the fact that his blood rating was only B-grade, had a hard time calming down when he considered the possibility of a 3rd generation species sleeping right under his feet.
The A-grade combat agents from the Execution Bureau were already on their way, and the stabilization of the wave pattern made him sigh with relief. Apparently, the thing below was still in a stable dormant state. He had no reason to be alarmed.
But in the next moment, his expression changed dramatically.
What was a wave as gentle as a hill suddenly became deadly peaks and valleys. Their points were sharp as a sword, piercing through Bob’s frightened heart.
“This is Area A81. The target’s frequency and peaks changed drastically! Repeat! Target shows signs of awakening!” Bob shouted into the broadcast screen while taking out the Desert Eagle strapped to his waist. It was a gadget that had been modified by the Equipment Department.

Sara’s eyes, which had been slightly closed, opened as she smiled happily upon finally hearing the song of the God of Nature.
She cheered and leaped through the sea of flowers, which swayed and fluttered along, and the luminescence at the tips of the petals seemed brighter, as if they were rejoicing in the advent of the God of Nature.
Sara ran through the sea of daisies, violets, geraniums, sunflowers, irises, which parted as she ran through. She felt like she had come to the land of fantasy, a land of only flowers, and these flowers were still growing at a rapid pace.
Various flowers that were only able to grow to barely a meter at most were furiously branching upwards, as if the God of Nature had lifted the restrictions that bound them while speeding up time. In an instant, they exceeded a meter and a half in height.
Sara’s vision was blocked, but she was not afraid; she felt that the song just became even more magnificent, as if it were directly in her ears, making her forget her troubles.
I really do have the gift of shamanism! Look, the God of Nature is communicating with me again!
Yet this fairy tale garden in Sara’s eyes was a devilish sight in the eyes of the agents of the Execution Bureau.
The area of flowers where Bob was was growing even more fiercely, and even with his height of 1.8 meters*, he couldn’t see anything anymore.
The tendrils continued growing rapidly and soon exceeded two meters. He felt like he was trapped in a cage. Flowers enfolded his entire line of sight. The fluorescence of the flower tips illuminated the late night, like billions of fireflies fluttering across the land.
The sea of flowers swayed with the wind, flashes of fluorescence were reflected in Bob’s eyes, putting him in a trance, as if he had fallen into an ancient maze. These stunningly beautiful flowers, each of which looked like temptresses, twisted demonically, and the branches swung as if they were hands reaching for his face.
At this moment, even though he knew that the agents were less than a kilometer away, he felt like he was the only one left in the world, and the place he was in… was the depths of hell itself.
“Bob! Bob! Report your status!” The voices blared into the headset. They belonged to the other agents. It allowed Bob to return to his senses a bit; he bit his tongue, struggling to stay awake.
“The flowers changed somehow. It should be the precursor to its awakening. Requesting support, requesting support!” Bob roared in response, his hands clutching the Desert Eagle, replaced with alchemic live ammo, but in this vast world of flowers, what use was a gun? Could it break a few flower branches? Could it break through the thick earth to attack the reviving 3rd generation dragon?
He directed his gaze to the survey instrument. At this moment, he thought that the freaks over at the Equipment Department were pretty dependable for the first time. The explosion of the instrument would be close to the power of 20kg of C4. Even if it couldn’t blow that bastard to death, at least he wouldn’t be completely defenseless were he to face it.
“Roger. Evacuate towards the east. Agents will meet you there. Do not panic!” Executive officer Purtell directed.
But Bob raised his head to look at the flowers that were nearing 2.5 meters in height. Even the moon and stars were obscured. Which way… even was east?
He felt panic for the first time. He wanted to evacuate, but he found that his hands and feet were beginning to become entangled by the flowers. His Kotodama was Snake, which was specialized for detection, and he had no blades on him. Untangling himself was a nigh-impossible task.
And because of the magnetic field generated by the 3rd generation species as it began to recover, various electronic instruments began to malfunction, and the helicopter had much trouble descending to a sufficient height for rescue.
The same situation also occurred on the side of the agents who arrived. The lead agent hacked through the plants relentlessly, but their advancing speed was still very slow. Even a distance of less than a kilometer was too long.
At last, one agent couldn’t hold it anymore and said to the agent in front, “Chen Xiao, move, I’ll use my Kotodama.”
“But, you…” The agent who was called out hesitated a bit. He knew one of their ace agents, Kurys, was about to use some sort of technique.
Kurys stepped forward, closed then opened his eyes, his golden eyes flashing even brighter. A sphere emerged from him, and countless dark reapers slithered out. The flowers that originally obstructed their path withered, as if there was a large invisible reaper pushing through the sea of flowers, stopping only at Bob’s originally predicted location.
Kotodama No. 71: Vampire Scythe.
Kurys let out a sharp exhale of air after using his Kotodama, blood flowing out of both ears as his golden eyes flashed with brutality. He steadied himself and said, “You guys go first.”
The Execution Bureau evidently was prepared this time around, as none of the A-grade agents possessed a fire-type Kotodama, meaning everyone in the group could use their Kotodama. A fire-type Kotodama risked everyone becoming “fried chicken” in this sea of flowers.
There was originally a proposal to burn the entire sea of flowers, but the Information Department believed that observing the flowers’ growth would help surveying. Also the Nama people had not migrated; burning their ancestral land right in front of them was a bit unethical.
Bob heard a sound: it was the sound of flowers being cut down. His comrades had come to his rescue.
But he also heard another sound. It was his Kotodama: Snake, and with its biological transmitter, he sensed a lifeform approaching him quickly.
He was afraid to let his snakes go underground. The 3rd generation species’ field of consciousness would have broken him instantly.
The flowers parted, but they weren’t the agents he was expecting—it was the Khoikhoi he saw earlier, the little girl, Sara.
Sara was stunned to see that Bob had been trapped within the flowers. No flowers had tried to stop her when she was running through them. This place was like her very own fairy tale garden. All the flowers parted for her, making her feel like a princess of a fairy tale.
She had followed the song of the God of Nature and arrived here and instead of seeing the god, saw a mister who was completely entangled.
Bob too was stunned. He clearly made the girl leave, and even saw her running towards the outside, so how did she come back?
How was this weak little girl able to get through this sea of flowers over here?
“Mister, have you heard the song of the God of Nature?” The little girl asked innocently, but Bob’s expression instantly changed.
