Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 89: Undercurrents
Within the wide Japanese-style room, a man whose face had a few shades of feminine softness sat in seiza, an ancient blade with a cherry-colored sheath across his lap. He raised his head to look at the figure in the shadows.
Osho, who was wearing the Noh mask, was placing flowers. The white porcelain vase was adorned with a winter plum, the rest were a bunch of bare branches, but looking at Osho’s cautious actions, it seemed as if he were waiting for them to bloom.
“You are very interested in that teenager,” the man opened his mouth to break the silence.
“Your brother also seems to be interested in him,” Osho inserted another branch.
“I already warned you. Do not mention him in front of me,” the man eye’s exuded a murderous look. If he hadn’t tried countless times already, the katana on his lap would already have been drawn.
“No need to get excited. I do have an interest in that teenager. Who wouldn’t be interested in a hybrid who could toy around with a 3rd generation species?” Osho stopped his hand and looked at the youth in front of him, who was the Dragon Lord of the Mou Kishu, “You need not worry. Even if he was powerful, how could he compete with the likes of you, the masterpiece of God?”
His tone was like placating a jealous child, but the Dragon Lord was not a jealous child. He merely wanted to behead the ghoul in front of him, so that the mouth that reeked of rot never opened again.
“I hope you’ve made all the arrangements. The Yamata no Orochi and Europe’s Secret Party are no fools,” the Dragon Lord said in a cold voice. Truly, Osho’s plan was too frightening. The Mou Kishu had always run rampant, but had never acted so erratically. It was almost like a sign of all-out war.
Although the hybrid Mou Kishu congregation were known as Oni, in the eyes of the Dragon Lord, they still had the right to live, and not have their value gnawed out by this ghoul and then discarded like tattered rags.
“A momentary dormancy may not be the best choice. I merely want a drop of his blood, which should not be hard for you,” Osho always loved to say these profound things, but the Dragon Lord just sneered, got up, and left the room.

Uesugi Koshi looked on as the pair of teenagers walked away and silently began to pack up his ramen stand. The weather was so cold, it was unlikely that anyone would come here to eat ramen at this time.
Business was done for today.
On the way, Lu Chen asked Erii whether to send her home, but her response was still “I want to play a little longer.”
So Lu Chen had no choice but to take Erii back to the Peninsula Hotel. He decided to play with this online friend for another day, then officially begin his mission.
No matter how one spun it, it was a bit unjustified for him to be leisurely spending time with a girl while Chu Zihang and Caesar were hard at work.
Moreover, he somewhat knew now that Erii probably ran away from home. She didn’t even have a cell phone on her, and she only had one now because Lu Chen had gotten her one before they went to the Ueno Zoo.
What was more strange was that this girl had no social media and only created a Line account under his guidance. Currently, he was the only friend on it.
In this process, Lu Chen finally got a taste of feeling “superior,” thinking back to Finger’s mocking gaze when he instructed him how to register for all sorts of apps.
Since Erii had run away from home, and now it had been two days, maybe her family was also very worried. After playing tomorrow, he had to send the other back no matter what, or at least let Erii contact her family.
But every time he asked where Erii’s home was, she was “silent.”
In the evening, the two played the same game like always for a while, and Erii then went to take a shower. He left the room, ready to talk with the others to ask them about the results of today’s investigation.
It was mainly because Erii’s clothes strewn about the floor and the sound of running water coming from the bathroom was not conducive to clear thought.
Knock knock knock—
Lu Chen knocked on the door of Caesar’s room. But strangely, there was no response.
He looked at the time on his phone. It was already past twelve o’clock, yet the other hadn’t returned?
He knocked again on Chu Zihang’s room with the same result.
What a coincidence. At that moment, Lu Chen received a text from Caesar.
“Brother Lu, Brother Chu and I found some clues. We’ll follow those tracks and meet tomorrow to discuss.”
He replied with “Be careful, call me if you need anything” and then got ready to rest. Although the Japanese branch was suspicious, he believed that they wouldn’t dare go against the agents. Even if Caesar and Chu Zihang were caught while doing some sort of secret infiltration, as long as they had him, the human weapon, as well as the deterring power of the Secret Party, they would dare not do anything to Caesar to Chu Zihang.
Yes, Lu Chen was always self-aware. Though he wasn’t sure what level the 2nd generation species were at, if he were to wreak havoc on Tokyo right now, the damage wouldn’t be any less than them.
Of course, he could not do that. He had always upheld the principle not to harm civilians ever since he joined the military.
Soldiers existed to protect their country, not to bully the weak. No matter how much conflict existed between two forces, soldiers should never harm civilians.
“Good night,” upon returning to his room, he stood outside the bathroom, bid good night to Erii who was still in the shower, and prepared to go back to the second bedroom.
Then, the glass door rattled. Lu Chen turned around and saw a delicate finger sliding across the foggy glass, writing out the words “Good night.”
Erii was a polite girl.

Time: 03:12:11
Location: Ganyuu Institute
“You’re poking me,” Chu Zihang whispered. The feeling of having his sphincter violently bumped into obviously wasn’t a good one.
“It’s so cramped in here. Why’d you stop all of a sudden?” Caesar also complained as he inched back.
“There seems to be someone in front. Use your Kotodama to confirm,” Chu Zihang said in a small voice.
The two of them were now crawling forward in the ventilation ducts of the Ganryuu Institute. During the day, Chu Zihang had taken note of the layout of the Institute and the estimated route of the ducts when he came to visit and investigate.
Although the college did include a lot of high-tech secret agent gadgets within the equipment box, they weren’t dumb enough to imitate Agent 007 and see if these gadgets were hand or not.
During the day, Chu Zihang had “inspected” the various projects of Ganryuu Institute, asking about the projects that were in progress, and according to the Japanese branch, there was nothing wrong.
But Chu Zihang was not as easily fooled as Lu Chen was. He could read the feedback of the waveforms monitored on the various screens. The mission details provided by the college also showed what abnormal waveforms looked like.
The Japanese branch was not only using ultrasonic technology to survey, but also analyzing electromagnetic wave signals.
They were obviously conducting some sort of underground exploration and already had some results, even finding a certain target, yet they were hiding it.
If it were a dragonkin, why didn’t they report back to headquarters?
Even if they had the power to take care of the target, this kind of thing should be reported to headquarters. They were hiding something, with another purpose in mind!
