Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 91: Sudden Change
“How many levels does Ganryuu Institute have underground in total?” After listening for a while, Caesar’s expression suddenly became strange.
“During the day, when I toured this place, Director Miyamoto said that the building goes at most to level -1,” Chu Zihang lit up his golden pupils at this moment, gripping Murasame tensely. The countdown on the tool felt so long.
“But I clearly heard the security personnel below. This place… has a level -2!” At first, Caesar did not hear where the Japanese branch people were fighting. The alarm ‘s loud noise affected his judgment, which was amplified a million times through his usage of the Wind Devils.
And as for the enemy that the Japanese branch was facing, the number didn’t seem to be few. He heard hoards of people shooting, drawing swords and slashing at each other, and many even used their Kotodama.
They were at level -1 and could hear the slight vibrations from time to time.
It seemed the visitors… were an army!
But what kind of people would dare attack such important buildings within Tokyo?
The nature of this was no different from attacking Cassell College in Chicago.
As time inched forward, Chu Zihang did not speak, and Caesar gravely listened to the movements below.
“Damn, how did I not notice that there was an underground river, and that the enemies were invading from there!” Caesar suddenly exclaimed.
Chu Zihang, on the other hand, pondered and said, “Maybe it’s not an underground river. According to my memory of the map, there should be a branch of the G-Cans below here,”
“G-Cans?” Caesar obviously wasn’t as intent on memorizing the map as Chu Zihang, and it was the first time he had heard of it.
“Tokyo is a rainy city, yet never gets waterlogged thanks to the G-Cans, a drainage system, which is deep underground in Tokyo, like the city’s veins. It’s an artificial underground river, flowing incessantly,” Chu Zihang explained.
TL Note: G-Cans, nickname of the extensive drainage system within Japan known as Metropolitan Area Outer Underground Discharge Channel.
Caesar was a little shocked, not because the Japanese had built such an advanced drainage system, but that Zihang was extremely talkative today.
However, he did not roast him. Though the two did not say it, in fact, both were a little nervous. The situation had gone out of their control and expectations.
“The branch is being pushed back. The enemy is strong,” Caesar said gravely, “I feel… their enemies aren’t… human.”
He didn’t hear the enemy’s gunfire, only the collision of flesh, the sound of swords and other hard objects clashing, the sound of sharp things cutting through flesh, and even the sound… of chewing.
Damn, what kind of person would eat on the battlefield?
Even a foodie like Lu Chen wouldn’t do something like that, right!?
“Death Servitors?” Chu Zihang’s grip on his sword tightened. Caesar probably wouldn’t speak nonsense; the attackers might really be non-human existences.
But a Death Servitor was uncontrollable, much less an army of them attacking Ganryuu Institute!
Beep—!
The two sighed in relief alongside the sound. The door had been unlocked.
No matter what kind of enemy the branch had encountered, it was not their first concern right now, and it wasn’t as if they were in the right position to help either.
What identity would they even use to help?
A righteous friend passing by late at night?

The college was taking this mission very seriously. The waveform frequency was likely from an ancient dragon. If it were in Tokyo, reviving it would probably reduce the city to rubble!
The two quickly entered the computer room. Chu Zihang found the socket for inserting Mini Norma and started the preset program. In less than three minutes, they would be able to get detailed data about that waveform report.
“Don’t you feel hot?” Caesar was in charge of the “lookout,” observing the battle occurring below.
“A little,” Chu zihang also wiped sweat off his forehead. It wasn’t brought about by nervousness.
The Ganryuu Institute’s computer room used advanced heat dissipation technology, and the room had a high-powered air conditioner that was always on. Though it was winter and they dressed more warmly, they didn’t feel hot when they came in.
But now he felt that the temperature was sharply rising!
“Someone below used a fire-type Kotodama, and it seems the order isn’t low either. We’re like meat sausages getting roasted on a grill right now,” Caesar shrugged after probing a bit.
“The walls of the Ganryuu Institute buildings are thick, each partition being at least 1.5 meters of reinforced concrete. Even fire can’t burn through it,” Chu Zihang analyzed from an academic point of view, causing Caesar to lament that the other person had not even one humorous bone in his body.
“Fire can’t burn through, but something is coming up,” Caesar tucked the M92F in his waist and pulled out his preferred weaponry—two large-caliber Desert Eagles, filled with mercury core armor penetrating bullets, bullets capable of wounding even dragons.
The M92F was just a toy loaded with Frigga bullets, and if what came up from below really wasn’t human, then he would let his Desert Eagles loose within the corridor.
Chu Zihang gripped Murasame. His contact lenses would affect his vision to a certain extent, so he must give his best effort in the upcoming battle.
Suddenly, the shrill siren stopped, but the whole space was not quiet.
Chu Zihang finally heard it, that numbing sound, the sound of scales rubbing against the floor and sharp claws cutting through walls.
When the first creature at the end of the corridor appeared in front of them, Caesar laughed and said, “Looks like it’s time to tell Brother Lu to get out of bed.”
Chu Zihang had already pressed the emergency contact button, while Caesar ran towards the computer room door and started to close the heavy alloy door.
The creature at the end of the corridor was a snake-tailed human, like a mythical snake man, its upper body limbs thick and strong, a pair of bright golden pupils sweeping around, until it saw the two of them, then shot towards the computer room!
“Damn, what the hell is that!” Caesar cursed. It wasn’t that he hadn’t been sent by the Execution Bureau to kill Death Servitors, but that they were often humanoid. Even if they were dragonified, their humanoid limbs were still “there.” This was the first time he saw this kind of snake-like disgusting thing.
The Desert Eagles roared, both of them firing at the same time, but the Death Servitor’s reflexes were amazing, and used its claws and arms to block them.
The mercury core armor-penetrating bullets pierced its arms, and though it was the same as a slow death that gradually eroded it with toxins, it couldn’t kill it instantly.
The serpentine Death Servitor was gaining speed. At this rate, it would rush in before the door closed, and from what the Wind Devils were telling Caesar, there was a swarm of snakes behind it. The fastest of them had even appeared at the entrance to the corridor!
The two guns fired four rounds in a row, until Caesar broke one of the forearms of the serpentine Death Servitor, alchemic bullets finally burying themselves within its head. The body of the Death Servitor fell with a thud, just two meters in front of the door, sliding to Caesar’s feet, who kicked it aside.
“Disgusting,” He blew the smoke from his Desert Eagles, the heavy alloy door closing at the exact time.
Then the muffled sound of heavy objects colliding, the piercing sound of sharp claws scraping, and the ghostly screams were like babies crying… entered the computer room, almost like evil spirits of hell knocking at the door.
