Starting From the Dragon Tribe
Chapter 98: We’ll play at 9 p.m.
To start, Lu Chen, under the lead of Gen Chisei’s beautiful assistant, Sakura, took Caesar and Chu Zihang to the Japanese branch’s private hospital.
The main reason was that it was obvious Caesar and Zihang’s injuries weren’t caused by blades or other typical weapons, so going to a regular hospital would cause many problems.
After settling down the two, it was already 8 a.m. by the time Lu Chen returned to the Peninsula Hotel. He felt a bit guilty, as if he had secretly snuck out to do something bad.
Upon opening the door, the room reflected the faint light of the sunrise, but he was puzzled, because he sensed no one in the room.
He went to the master bedroom to take a look at the bed in there. It was empty, and the sheets were folded neatly. It was likely that the service staff had already changed them.
The stuffed animals that he and Erii had bought two days ago when they were out playing were gone. The room was empty except for “Huanhuan,” the giant panda stuffy, and the Mickey Mouse balloon, which was hanging up on the ceiling.
He saw a piece of paper on the bed, which was torn from Erii’s little notebook. He went over and picked it up.
“My family came to pick me up. I’m going back,” So the girl went back home…
Now that he no longer had the task of accompanying her, he could start his mission in earnest now, but inexplicably, he felt a sense of emptiness in his heart.
The room had a faint aroma of shampoo, accompanied by the scent of the girl’s natural cherry blossom body fragrance, causing Lu Chen to be stuck in a trance for a bit, as if she was still there.
Rustle—
He heard the rustling of paper, looked back, but found it to be a random piece of paper sandwiched between the window, blown by the wind.
Lu Chen laughed and shook his head. It was good that she left. After what happened last night, it was impossible for him to go out with Erii, anyway.
But he was still uneasy, so he took out his phone, went on Line, and sent Erii a message, “You got back home?”
He was afraid that this pure and somewhat naive girl was abducted by shady people.
A ding sounded; a reply actually came a second later.
“I’m already back home. Wanna play games together?”
Lu Chen smiled helplessly.
He replied, “I’m busy today. Let’s play when I have time.”
Ding, a reply within a second, “Then I’ll wait until you do.”
Lu Chen froze a bit, and thought how simple-minded this girl was. She didn’t understand that this sort of line meant that there was an indefinite time limit?
But he suddenly pictured the girl with long burgundy hair sitting in front of the LCD TV with her miko costume, the controller in her hand as she stared at her friend’s dim avatar, waiting for it to light up again, waiting for when he… had time.
He shook his head and waved this ridiculous thought out of his head. No matter how simple-minded Erii was, she couldn’t be like this, right?
But when he walked towards the bathroom to prepare for a shower, he still second-guessed himself, and as if uneasy, returned a line, “We’ll play at 9 pm. No need to wait for me before that.”
Ding—
“(〃’▽’〃)”
Erii actually replied with an emoticon, but it seemed like she understood what he meant. That was one worry out of the way.

He went to the bathroom and took a shower, then looked at himself in the mirror as he wiped his hair, thinking back to what happened last night.
Diamond was not a Kotodama that could be continuously activated.
He was in a hurry yesterday, and even used it when he was in a bad mood to kill those Death Servitors.
If not for his strong attributes, another person would have collapsed from exhaustion.
The burden caused by Diamond’s enhanced muscle strength was nothing to his physique at the moment, but he found that the use of his Kotodama, which consumed a certain mysterious power as well as drained his essence. Intuitively speaking, as he looked at his spatial attribute panel, the Kotodama was considered an active skill that consumed his Soul Gauge.
The Soul Gauge value on his pane was now just below 70% and was slowly recovering at this point, a result of his abuse of his Kotodama.
Last night, he had used his Kotodama for about three minutes total, which seemed short, but was already a perverse figure for other Kotodama users.
In comparison to Bronze Throne (he entrusted Milana to secretly investigate within the college), there were three students with this Kotodama. All of them were A-grade elites, but they had to use their Kotodama in a controlled manner. If they were to double their power three to four times, they’d only be able to use it for 30 seconds at mos, any longer would cause irreversible skeletal damage.
30 seconds may seem very short, but on the battlefield, winners and losers were decided in an instant, and it wasn’t like they had it activated the entire time anyway, merely only during critical moments, like drawing their blades or readying a punch.
If used skillfully, they could often “use the good steel to forge the sword’s edge” and engage in a battle as long as ten minutes without a problem.
The boost he got from Diamond was smaller in proportion, and his body could withstand the toll. He could maintain this state for quite long theoretically, but he was unable to keep up in other areas.
Bloodline.
Strictly speaking, the Kotodama of hybrids relied on bloodline. He was currently only on the level of an upper B-grade, so he couldn’t sustain his Kotodama for that long.
If his draconic bloodline wasn’t B-grade, but A-grade, then he’d be able to lengthen it for more than double the current time.
He would have to worry about improving his bloodline later. It was just that even 3rd generation species were able to exchange a blow or two with him, and he heard that 2nd generation species were on a completely different level of power. Even though he himself held so much power, he couldn’t dare say that he would be able to easily crush them.
And members of the Dragon Raja, strong or not, in addition to their physical specs, depended on what Kotodama they possessed.
Theoretically, if the 3rd generation dragon in Namaqualand had a Kotodama like Split Second or Time Zero, then it would definitely have been a difficult and bitter battle, and he may not even have won.
After all, that woman’s raw speed was still much inferior to his, but if it had been doubled several times over…
Lu Chen shook his head and stopped thinking about it and only cautioned himself not to become complacent.
After washing up, he sat cross-legged on his bed and meditated, as a sort of nourishment of his mind.
He made an appointment with Gen Chisei for tomorrow afternoon to go to the Inuyama clan head’s dojo to ask for advice on how to improve his Kotodama.
After negotiating with Chisei, he made him remove the Japanese branch’s surveillance of them, but for Lu Chen specifically, Chisei decided to personally “monitor.”
After refreshing himself, Lu Chen got up and went to his desk and opened the laptop provided by the college and prepared to write the report for last night’s mission.
This was his first time as a team leader, so he didn’t have much experience, but thankfully, Chu Zihang and Caesar had already roughly organized everything for him, so he only needed to double-check a bit, and if there was nothing wrong, then he would send it directly to the college.
Along the way, he also sent a private message to his mentor, a personal request of sorts, for a new weapon.
For some reason, he had a feeling that he would encounter an unprecedentedly strong enemy in Japan, and the Red Maple… was simply too fragile.
