Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution - Chapter 86
Chapter 86: Chapter 86 Countdown Over
After Tian Xin left, the Mutators of the Lu Family ran back one after another and decided to wait here for the countdown to end.
They were not Lin Shen; if they encountered Tian Xin again, they would only be able to offer gifts upon meeting. They didn’t want the Base Mutation Eggs and materials they had just harvested to be stolen again, so they decided to stay on Lin Shen’s side.
Of course, this was also partly due to Zheng Yan stirring the pot, for he feared the Angel would come looking for trouble after he left.
Although he didn’t know why the Angel not only refrained from robbing Lin Shen but instead gave him a Red Jade Lion, it was clearly not a good sign and was very disadvantageous to him.
Lin Shen merely watched coldly and said nothing.
He had already decided to go out and search for Mutant creatures, but since he had promised to help guard the body of the Sea Demon God General and Xu Tiange had not yet returned, it was inconvenient for him to leave now.
Luckily, there were not many hours left until the countdown ended, and Xu Tiange should be back soon.
Lin Shen didn’t mind the wait, and after the countdown, he didn’t plan to return just yet.
Since the plains here were relatively safe, and after the countdown ended he could teleport back at will, there was nothing to worry about.
Safe hunting of Mutants to obtain Base Mutation rates was what Lin Shen needed to do at the moment.
At Steel Level, he was still too weak, currently relying on external forces to resolve battles. If he didn’t enhance his own strength, it would ultimately remain unsafe.
After resting for a few hours, Xu Tiange finally returned with his group. Their harvest was quite impressive, and they even obtained two Mutated Steel Eggs, something previously unimaginable.
Some people live their whole lives without ever seeing a Mutant creature, let alone Mutant Eggs.
Checking the time, Lin Shen saw that it was almost due, with less than an hour remaining. He casually chatted with Xu Tiange and his group, inquiring about where they had gone and what they had encountered.
In a place like this, the more information one knew, the better.
Lin Shen planned to wait until Lu Qing and Xu Tiange and their group left before going to search for Mutant creatures.
Time passed quickly, and at the moment the countdown ended, something unexpected happened.
Previously, the black wristwatch Teleporter allowed for a choice to return or not, but this white wristwatch Teleporter had no options and, without their consent, teleported them back as soon as the countdown ended.
Lin Shen only felt a severe spinning sensation, and by the time he came to his senses, he was already submerged in water.
“I can’t swim!” Lin Shen immediately held his breath and desperately flailed his arms and legs, trying to make himself float.
After all these years, he had never gone into the water and had no idea how to swim. Without moving his limbs, it was fine, but as soon as he started flailing, he sank even further down.
“Wei, hurry and save me!” Lin Shen could only hope for Wei to rescue him, but then he realized that Wei probably wasn’t much of a swimmer either.
Wei was doing a little better than Lin Shen, if not by much. He knew a bit of doggy paddle, but was still unskilled, and was struggling desperately in the water, trying to reach Lin Shen. He churned the water into waves over a meter high, but his body just wouldn’t move forward.
At the critical moment, a figure came swimming over like a mermaid, reached Lin Shen’s side, and pulled him upwards.
Before long, the two surfaced. Lin Shen gasped for air; he had almost suffocated.
“Don’t rush. I’m here, breathe slowly, stay still, stay relaxed, and leave the rest to me,” a familiar voice sounded in his ear.
Lin Shen knew it was Lu Qing. Without saying a word, he did as she suggested, staying relaxed and letting her swim with him.
There were boats on the lake surface, and people from both the Lu Family and Xu Family came over for the rescue, pulling everyone onto the boats.
After being pulled onto the boat, Lin Shen looked at Lu Qing sitting beside him, drenched from head to toe, and said “thank you.”
Lu Qing gave him a sidelong glance and chided, “What kind of relationship do we have that you’re still being so formal with me?”
Having said that, she realized it didn’t sound right and her cheeks turned slightly red as she hastily explained, “When we were on that planet, you took care of me the whole time, so now we’re even.”
“Okay,” Lin Shen nodded slightly.
People from both the Lu and Xu families were unusually polite to Lin Shen, which puzzled Lu Qing and the others. Zheng Yan’s expression was not too good, as if he thought of something, yet he wasn’t sure about it.
From the way the people of the Lu Family looked at him, he realized something was amiss.
He glanced in the direction of the Realm King Cultivation Device and found that it was the same as when it was first discovered, without the slightest bit of activity.
After they teleported out, the projection of the Realm King Cultivation Device had already ended, so Lin Shen and the others didn’t see the projection.
After reaching the shore, Lin Shen and Wei Wufu said goodbye to Lu Qing and Xu Tiange and went straight back to Yashen Base.
All the way there, the two of them felt rather strange, as everyone they passed by seemed to look at them oddly.
Young ladies and wives smiled at them, which Lin Shen could understand—who wouldn’t if you looked pale, clean-cut, and decent?
But what was with those grown men grinning foolishly at them? That left Lin Shen somewhat speechless.
Lin Shen roughly guessed what was going on and hurried towards the Ye Family’s castle.
“Mr. Lin Shen, Mr. Lin Shen, you still know to come back, huh?” Lin Shen hadn’t yet reached the castle gates when he saw Ye Yuzhen standing at the entrance, smiling somewhat maliciously.
“Why wouldn’t I know to come back?” Lin Shen asked, blinking.
“Hero saves the beauty, the beauty protects the hero, mutual feelings, reignited passion—I thought you decided to go back home with your old flame,” Ye Yuzhen said, her words dripping with a tinge of sourness.
Lin Shen thought to himself, “Sure enough, our image from the inside must have been seen by others. It seems the Realm King Cultivation Device’s broadcast must have been played nearby. Hasn’t everyone at Yashen Base seen it?”
“How could that be? A good horse doesn’t eat the grass behind it. Besides, I’m related to the grass—we’re both meant to be eaten,” Lin Shen said with a sly smile as he stepped forward and lightly hugged Ye Yuzhen’s slender waist.
“What kind of grass are you?” Ye Yuzhen dodged Lin Shen’s hands with a twist of her waist and asked curiously.
“I’m not grass, I’m cabbage—your exclusive cabbage. I won’t let anybody else ‘turn the soil’ but you,” Lin Shen said with a serious face.
“Cabbage?” Ye Yuzhen was taken aback at first, then quickly caught on and went to pinch him, “Who are you calling a pig… You’re the pig…”
Back in the castle, Lin Shen asked Ye Yuzhen for an update on the situation, and after she gave him a brief overview, Lin Shen was dumbfounded.
“A projection of the void… doesn’t that mean every move we made was seen by the whole world?” Lin Shen said with a strange expression.
“That’s probably the case. That projection was really odd. I heard on the channels that the image, just like the atmosphere, enveloped the entire planet. It could be seen from anywhere,” Ye Yuzhen said with a laugh, “You guys are now famous figures throughout the world.”
“What kind of title?” Lin Shen asked curiously.
“Wei Wufu is revered as War God Wei, and as for you, you’re now everyone’s most respected, strongest… playboy,” Ye Yuzhen said, grinning.
