Super Gene Ⅱ: Evolution - Chapter 216
Chapter 216: Chapter 216 Intentional
Lin Shen also wanted to know what reward the person ranked first would ultimately receive, so when he cleared the levels, he was sprinting with all his might as well.
The only difference from Ximen Swordsman was that Ximen Swordsman didn’t have a loyal fan.
The combat power of a loyal fan was indeed off the charts, and the key point was their ability to adapt to various environments. Big or small, hard or soft, capable of flying or swimming, they could almost tackle any setting.
Ximen Swordsman needed to overcome different environments in the nine levels, face different Crystal Base Variant Creatures, switch pets, and adjust his own state.
Lin Shen didn’t need to consider these things; a single loyal fan took care of everything and the environment’s impact on him was also very low; he just needed to keep charging forward.
And sprinting was Lin Shen’s specialty, Stepping on the Immortal Court would only get faster and faster without any sign of stopping.
“I wonder if this ranking can be maintained until the end,” Lin Shen was not certain that he could stay in first place until the finish.
After all, the world was full of fierce people, and someone might break his record any day.
Upon exiting the Realm King Tower, Lin Shen had one more Pet Launcher in his hand; a 41-speed with a ten-round burst was indeed top-notch.
“No, I must sell the Pet Launcher in my hand as soon as possible; its value is definitely going to plummet,” Lin Shen calculated in his mind.
After waiting for a while, the countdown ended and Lin Shen returned to his own room.
It was still not dawn; Lin Shen had set a relatively short time this time and got back just in time to sleep a bit more.
Upon waking in the morning, Lin Shen hardly ate anymore, replacing all his meals with Base Mutation Fluid, aiming to reach a hundred percent Base Mutation rate as quickly as possible.
Just as he left his house, Lin Shen saw a flashy red sports car parked across the street, with quite a few people admiring the car.
Car production lines had been pretty much destroyed in the past, and because car parts weren’t produced in the same place, assembling a car used to be extremely difficult.
As various bases grew stronger and pathways between them were opened, the situation improved a lot.
But no one really bothered to set up car production lines again because cars were no longer practical.
They could only be driven within bases; outside, wild plants were rampant, and the roads were severely damaged—no one would spend so much effort to rebuild them.
Even if they were repaired, who knew when a Base Variant Creature might pass by and damage them? That would be a frequent occurrence.
So now, there were basically no more car production lines, and most of the existing cars were leftovers that had not been damaged from the past.
The red sports car in front of him looked really new from the paint job and obviously very expensive.
Unfortunately, Lin Shen didn’t know much about cars and had no idea what brand it was.
“Get in, I’ll take you to the training camp,” as Lin Shen was sizing up the sports car, the car window rolled down and Ye Yuzhen, sitting in the driver’s seat, waved to him.
“Where did this car come from?” Lin Shen settled into the passenger’s seat and saw that Ye Yuzhen was wearing a black bodycon skirt and black tights today. Her whole body’s curves and long legs, like a magnet, irresistibly drew one’s gaze towards her legs…
“Someone else’s, borrowed to drive for a few days,” Ye Yuzhen said as she started the car.
The next second, Lin Shen was indeed surprised; this was not just any car, it was practically a flying machine.
The vehicle rose vertically, and under Ye Yuzhen’s control, flew toward the training camp.
“Is this an alien device?” Lin Shen curiously examined the inside of the flying vehicle and asked.
“Yeah, want to try it? It’s very simple,” Ye Yuzhen offered.
“Sure,” Lin Shen was indeed eager to try it.
Ye Yuzhen pressed a button on the screen and, to Lin Shen’s surprise, a steering wheel popped out in front of him, at the passenger’s seat.
Ye Yuzhen explained how to pilot the device to Lin Shen, and after Lin Shen tried it, he indeed found it very simple, even simpler than driving a car. The flight device was too advanced, and operation was extremely convenient.
Lin Shen felt this was appropriate, the higher the technology, the simpler it should be to operate.
“Is it fun?” Ye Yuzhen, resting her chin on her hand, watched Lin Shen, who was thoroughly enjoying himself, and asked.
“It’s fun.” Lin Shen really liked playing, especially with these novel gadgets.
“If it’s fun, then take it and play with it. When you get tired of it, I’ll take it back,” Ye Yuzhen said as she handed the flight device’s control crystal card to Lin Shen.
“Forget it, it’s not even yours. It wouldn’t be good if it gets damaged,” Lin Shen refused to take it.
“It’s fine if the device gets damaged; it isn’t a big deal as long as you’re okay,” Ye Yuzhen said, stuffing the crystal card into Lin Shen’s top pocket.
“Then I won’t be polite.” Lin Shen said as he piloted, “Does this thing refuel?”
“No, it uses a solid energy block extracted from Base Mutation Fluid. The mother planet currently doesn’t have the technology to produce solid energy blocks and can only import them from Alien Worlds. The entire flight device is made from Base Mutation materials; its strength is acceptable, but at such high speeds, collisions definitely won’t end well, so you still need to be careful,” Ye Yuzhen explained.
Lin Shen had heard from Tian Xin before about flight devices on Alien Worlds, but he had never seen one for himself. He had thought they would be very cumbersome, never expecting them to be so portable and nearly indistinguishable from cars.
Moreover, the device did not have the kind of thrusters that one sees in science fiction films. Whether taking off vertically or flying, it moved very smoothly, and Lin Shen had no idea how it worked.
After playing for a while, Lin Shen piloted the flight device to a secluded open space near the training camp and landed. He handed the control crystal chip back to Ye Yuzhen.
“What’s up?” Ye Yuzhen asked, slightly taken aback.
“I’ve had enough fun for today. I’ll find you next time I want to play,” Lin Shen said with a smile as he got off.
“Okay, after your training is done, I’ll pick you up, and we can go check out the distillery street market,” Ye Yuzhen said casually, taking the control crystal chip.
“Sounds good, but let’s not use this,” Lin Shen said, patting the flight device.
“I thought you would like it. If you don’t, I’ll return it later,” Ye Yuzhen commented.
“It’s not that I don’t like it, it’s just too eye-catching. I don’t want to be tomorrow’s news on the Shanghai Corner Radio Station,” Lin Shen joked.
After Ye Yuzhen left, Lin Shen silently marveled to himself, “The Ye Family’s foundation in Sea Corn Base is deep indeed, managing to get their hands on a flight device from an Alien World. That’s something not even money can necessarily buy.”
He had also thought about visiting the distillery street market lately but simply hadn’t found the free time.
Today, since Ye Yuzhen invited him, it coincided perfectly with his own intentions.
The distillery street market, along with the sandfield and the salt drying field, were collectively known as the three major markets of Sea Corn Base. Lin Shen had previously visited the sandfield and also planned to visit the other two markets to see if he could find another Base Mutation Egg with a Fire Seed.
After arriving at the training camp, it was still the same three routines: running laps, stretching, and meditating, followed by theory lessons, and then free time.
For the past couple of days, Lin Shen had not practiced the Overlapping Waves Skill, and Instructor Mu hadn’t forced him to.
No matter how good Lin Shen’s physical condition was, without grasping the essence of the Overlapping Waves Skill it was useless, so Instructor Mu was considering what kind of skill Lin Shen was suited for.
With nothing better to do, Lin Shen practiced the Rod Skill he had learned from the fisherman with Death Powder.
Instructor Mu, who occasionally kept an eye on Lin Shen, watched for a while and his expression gradually turned peculiar.
“Is that kid doing it on purpose?” Instructor Mu realized the skill Lin Shen was practicing was very complex and unique.
He could learn such a complex skill, yet he seemed unable to grasp the Overlapping Waves Skill, which merely required repetition. It all seemed deliberate.
Originally, Instructor Mu had thought Lin Shen might not be too bright, with only average aptitude, suitable for simpler and more straightforward skills.
But now, it seemed that was not the case at all!
