Chapter 13: Nine Swords of Flying Star

Adams squatted in front of the door and shifted all the stones that were piled on the ground aside. Sure enough, he found a key. It was made of a special material and even though it had been placed outside for many years, it actually looked like it was newly forged.
“Looks like the humans at that time must have understood the Zergs very well. They were sure that the Zergs did not have the intelligence to find the key and open the door. At the same time, it also benefited me, who came later!” Adams exclaimed gleefully. Then, he inserted the key into the keyhole and gently turned it.
Creak!
Accompanied by a creaking sound, a small crack opened between the two tightly shut doors. Adams carefully pushed open the doors and used the light outside to survey the interior.
The cave did not feel primitive at all. Instead, it was like a steel castle. There were many huge machines placed in the middle, as well as many conference tables and chairs. There were stairs leading up from both sides, and the entire building was surrounded by rooms of roughly the same size. It was like a grand military base!
The moment he pushed open the door, markers of all sizes appeared before Adams’ eyes.
“Wow, did I find a treasure?” Adams couldn’t help but exclaim as he eagerly walked in.
Although the base had been sealed for many years, the air inside was not musty. It was likely that the ventilation system here had been operating for many years, which made Adams rather thrilled.
If the ventilation system is not damaged, the other facilities in the base should be able to function normally as well!
Thinking of this, Adams turned to look at the walls on both sides of the gate and found a huge circuit breaker.
“Electric circuit breaker, circuit breaker… I hope you are a circuit breaker. I also hope there is electricity here!” Adams muttered under his breath as he walked forward to close the circuit.
The next moment, the base was lit up, and the sound of machines humming gradually reached Adams’ ears.
“Awesome!” Adams happily snapped his fingers. As long as there was light, he could rummage the entire base as he pleased.
All of sudden, Adams noticed the few machines in the middle of the hall. The huge screen seemed to be playing some kind of video. He hurried forward to watch.
The video on the screen was like a surveillance video of the base. It was a bunch of human officers in uniforms for higher ranks who were discussing something at the conference table.
“Our exploration of the Zerg planet has reached the final stage. We have already locked onto the location of the Zerg Queen. Once we wait for the weapons to arrive, we can destroy the high-level combatants of the Zerg race!”
“This way, the planet of the Zergs will become the territory of the Human race! The botanists and agricultural experts sent by the headquarters have arrived. They are testing the soil and water sources of the Zerg planet to see if they are suitable to grow crops or fruit trees. If this plan works, this place will become the granary of the Human race!”
“Everyone, the war is not over yet. For the future of the Human race, we must do our best and achieve victory!”
“Yes!”
Amidst the chorus response of the group of generals, the video suddenly dimmed.
When Adams saw this, he couldn’t help but sigh and say, “Looks like the human race was very powerful back then. They actually started a colony here. I wonder if those experts’ experiments were successful. If there really is a granary here, I’ll be rich!”
At that moment, the screen lit up again. The figures on the screen had changed. A few old men who wore spectacles were reporting to a general.
“General, after our inspection, the soil and environment of the Zerg planet are not suitable for the growth of crops. However, they seem to be suitable for the growth of fruit trees. We need a piece of land for planting and cultivation experiments!”
“No problem! I’ll give you a mountain and mark it as an S-rank strategic location on the military map. I will make sure that your experiments can proceed safely and that no Zergs will disturb you!”
“Thank you, General!”
As the scene ended again, Adams was lost in thought. I must get a military map to see where the mountain used for the experiment was. If the experiment back then succeeded, wouldn’t that mean that there’s a fruit garden waiting for me?
Moreover, based on the fruits he had gathered previously, Adams believed that the experiment had most likely succeeded!
The screen lit up again. However, this time, it was a somewhat useless video. There was no valuable information.
Adams looked down at the controls and found the button to skip the video. He began to quickly filter through the useful videos.
However, Adams was greatly disappointed by all the videos after that. There was no other information aside from conference records.
After a long time, the character on the screen suddenly changed, evoking Adams’ curiosity.
In front of the General, who would appear in almost every scene, was no longer a group of high-ranking military officers. Instead, it was an old man with gray sideburns. He looked old but had a muscular body.
“General, I’m probably going to die here!”
“Master Charlie, you’re a level-nine warrior, one of the most powerful human cultivators. Why would you say something like that?”
“Cultivators are not immortal. I am already 300 years old. It’s difficult for me to progress further in my cultivation and I have reached the point where my lifespan is running out. It is a pity that I did not find a suitable successor to inherit my legacy. Therefore, I hope that the General can help me with something!”
The General stood up with a grave expression on his face. He straightened his clothes and said solemnly, “Please speak!”
Master Charlie took out a jade box and placed it in front of the General. “This is my lifetime’s worth of knowledge. If you meet someone suitable, please pass on my legacy!”
“Alright, I promise you!”
As the General solemnly took the box, the screen dimmed again.
The next video showed a large number of soldiers scurrying around the base in a panic.
Suddenly, a soldier rushed in and shouted loudly, “The Zergs are starting their counterattack! The General has unfortunately died in battle. Everyone, prepare to head to the teleportation array and temporarily retreat from the Zergs’ planet!”
The video came to an abrupt stop, and there was a notification indicating that there was no next video.
Adams took a deep breath and quickly looked around.
Back then, that General had died all of a sudden. If he had not let his subordinates know about Master Charlie’s dying wish, that jade box might still be in the base. Moreover, it should be the high-grade cultivation item that the system had indicated!
Adams quickly locked onto the room where the blue marker was and quickly rushed into the room. He then found the jade box under the bed.
“Come on, Master Charlie! Let me see what your legacy is!” Adams chanted in a ritualistic manner before opening the box.
A military photography equipment, a ring embedded with seven-colored gems, and an unknown notebook appeared before Adams’ eyes.
At the same time, the system’s voice suddenly sounded, “Hint! Congratulations to the Host for obtaining the S-rank martial arts technique, Nine Swords of Flying Star!”
